Brilliant vlog buddy, fantastic insight into floater fishing. Great way to target specific fish. Hope you have a great weekend and Best wishes and stay safe and well to you and your family buddy, tight lines 🎣
Just wanted tonsaybi think you are amazing ! Thank you for sharing so many tips on yours and Korums channel . Learned quite a lot from you now from surface to bream and tench fishing 🎣 thank you
Great informative video, last year i watched your surface feeding video, made it my target to catch my first ever 20lb carp and in the surface, yesterday i had my first from a billiericy District angling club water, absolutely buzzing i was, keep up the work and tips, came in handy for me thanx
Hi Nick, I have surface fished all of my angling life and I consider it my main edge as no one else does it. However using the standard 6-7ft hooklink I always miss takes and try to stike when they take the bait. I used your rig yesterday on my lake where I always end up frustrated, I had one 1st cast then another whilst rod laying on floor baiting up. I have never had takes this easy on this lake. Many thanks all the best, I have just bought the korum bubbles in XL. no more wasting hooklink anymore , all the best
This makes me so happy!!! 😁😁😁 The shorter hooklink and the bolt style controller is a game changer. They hook themselves! Even with the rod on the floor 👍👍😁 Thanks for the comment. 🙌
@@Lifeonthebank no thank you Nick, my dad is now converted so he will be giving it a go next. :) pre spawning I had them taking mixers like mad on one fairly hard lake so cant wait to get back down there once re-open. have a great season mate
@@Lifeonthebank where I live chub are 5hebiggest fish here but there are trout to sadly I don't have gear so I can catch them , my dream is to become a famous youtuber like u will become 😁
Hi Nick just found you & subscribed. And there was me thinking that you could find a stick piece of string and fashion a hook and catch fish like Hucklebury Finn. Seem's at 71 & having only been fishing for a short while I have much to learn. Pretty sure your video's will help me do that. Just got to learn now casting from under the tree's without getting caught up.
great vid, I go to a small quite on an evening when everybody has gone home, nice to be able to move about and not disturb anyone as I find some get a bit funny when surface fishing. what main line did you use.
Yeah, definitely. Tbh I’ve upset people in the past when I’m mobile and moving around spots. It’s a tricky one. I was using 12lb Kruiser Control on the spool. 👍
Hello was wondering what lake this is?. I surface fish a lot but the biggest carp that feed off the top in all the lakes around me are around 15 pound. I’ve been looking for a lake in Somerset with big surface feeding carp for ages but can’t find any. Is this lake near Somerset and if not do you know any? Thanks
Awesome nick 1 of my favorite ways of catching carp the other is surface fishing for carp on a fly rod it's heart stopping stuff the problem is many people are finding is that most of the commercial fishery don't allow any surface fishing what so ever especially the surface bomb floats and no barbed or micro barbed hooks i fish barbless hooks i think it's ridiculous banning surface fishing I'm lucky i have private lakes i can visit these commercials are getting away with crazy rules like bread is banned no feeder fishing the list goes on thats why a lot of people are starting to leave commercial fishing they also close at 18.00 -19.00 best time to fish it's about time they started to change there ridiculous rules, excellent video nick well fished sir, para
I’m quite clear that this is a rig for when you’ve really got the fish feeding, competing for the food. If you get them going like that you really don’t need much finesse. I bet it’s tricky to get them in a frenzy on your lake, hence then having to refine things a bit more. Tell me more, I’m interested 😉👍
yes great to see your vids but long drawn out talk about the rig, got boring, yes I would like to know about rigs, etc, but it can be made a lot shorter, seemed to me you were advertising every bit of your tackle,,,i don't like ads ,
Wasn’t trying to advertise, I really wanted to get across the heavy bomb + short hooklink + straight point hook, but maybe got too wordy. I gave a couple of options for the bomb (Korum or Nash bolt machine). But I take your point and whilst some might take offence I certainly don’t. I appreciate all feedback - positive or negative. Onto the next vid … hopefully you’ll still check them out 👍
@@Lifeonthebank Sorry I think that is unfair criticism. If you have been fishing for a long time then perhaps it is too wordy but if like me you are new to fishing a deeper and longer explanation is welcomed.
I did put out a warning at the start! 🤣 Digging into the detail isn’t for everyone. I kinda knew the risks. I’ll probably not do this too often. I think feedback was always gonna be mixed on this one.
Would you recommend shortening the hook link when the fish ARENT competing, and are only taking the bait very tentatively? I freeline on my local pond, and the carp tend to take the bait only 6 inches before spitting it, so I use the line as the indicator, and I have to be quick to strike. I’m thinking of using an interceptor so I can cast further out, but also interested in the bolt rigging capabilities too. I fear that, because they spit it easy, a 2ft hook link might be too long and they’ll spit it before feeling the interceptor resistance. What do you think?
I think the shorter 2ft hook lengths works best when they’re competing, however I would still start with this even if the fish are being cagey! I would see how the fish react and then start lengthening it by a foot at a time. Sounds like you’re thinking of going shorter. Why not try it and see. I don’t tend to go shorter than 1.5 feet. Hope that helps!

What throwing stick are you using pal ? no better way of fishing imo than from the surface, the excitement and the battle it amazing
I need something small, cos I’m on the move and so I use Nash Deliverance Stealth Throwing Stick. 👍👍👍

Holland, awesome place for carping 👌👌👌
Love it still remember my first ever surface carp 17lb 8oz do you remeber yours ?I think its definitely the best way of catching carp !!👌👌👌
Yes, was how I started fishing for them. Was probably only 4lb and would have been about 35years ago! 😮
@@Lifeonthebank christ you only early 40s haha its great the buzz is still there sorry for the late response didn't even see my notifications

Great video. How much does the XL Korum surface float weigh filled up to 3/4 with water?
How heavy is the main line if the hook link is 10lb doesn't the heavy main line sink in the water ?
I go with 12lb Kruiser Control, it’s a floating line. 👍
I know you’re using floating line on the hook length but what about your mainline ?

Can’t believe some of those rules! Crazy! I love catching them on my fly rod. Will definitely do a video of that some time soon!!! 👍👍👍
I thought fluorocarbon sinks?
Not sure why, but I thought Kruiser Control uses low visibility fluorocarbon but maybe it doesn’t 🤔 Tend to use 10lb Smokescreen these days anyway.
I can tell you this would catch sod all on my lake. Far too clumsy...

If you care for Carp, do not hold them high and not even if you want a good picture.
I agree, although not really sure what fish / shot you’re referring to. Big XL cradle will be just out of shot though for sure.
