Today at Speedy's Garage we install a Per4mance Development "reduced clearance" rear differential brace on our Dodge Hellcat. This brace also works on Dodge Challenger R/T and SRT models as well as the Dodge Charger. The install is simple and straightforward if you know the tricks :) This will keep the diff nice and happy at the drag strip or when having some spirited fun on the street.
Here's where to get one:

My heart sunk and hope you’d double checked those bolts on the diff when you confirmed the crow foot is working! @14:46 from the angle it was filmed at, the crow foot appeared to be at the end of its usable range jammed against the brace lmao. Great video btw excellent walkthrough!
Thank you!
Love the channel Speedy and very detailed information. 👍
Thanks Speedy! Just installed my diff brace using your video as a guide. Good stuff!
Great video, and excellent step by step directions. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Very well done!
I don't know about everyone else but I feel like I'm inside a Nasa facility clean room. I really really like your workbence, tools and floor. It's so damn clean lol even the underside of your car - wow!! Great video as always.
So this bracket is not available on there website anymore and the one on my car is broken some how
There are upgraded versions available now.
Awesome information... 👍🏽
You'd be AMAZED how much better the car sounds without them resonators.
It's already loud to me. Guess I'm gettin' old LOL.
@@SpeedysGarage not a huge difference until you get in it but I couldn't believe how much it changes the tone at idle and makes it sound like a muscle car should lol
Regarding the diff. bolts wouldn't it be much easier to have an allen bolt? Then you wouldn't need to worry about the brace being so close to the bolt hex head.Does the Demon and Hellcat have the same diff. ? Wondering because I see when people use the launch control on a sticky track sometimes it will eventually crack. I guess when you unleash 800 hp anything is fair game
Good video. My install is coming soon. So good to have a reference.
Great install video. Subbed and notified. Found you thru hellcat.org. Installing my extreme brace here in a week or so along with BMR links.
Hi Speedy quick question once again love your videos you notice a little more harmonic noise after the install from the rear at certain speeds? Just wondering thanks in advance like always.
I didn't notice any difference. These are muscle cars, and mine rear end has always had a small amount of sound at light throttle. I call it character :)
Good way to put it THANKS!
Hey Speedy, great video! One question, does this brace eliminate ALL wheel hop? And how does it drive with the brace vs stock? I'm guessing the rear is a bit stiffer?
I never got much wheel hop to begin with so can't comment. I seem to remember the rear feeling more planted, but I've driven more miles with the diff on that off by now and am used to it now.
Great job as always Speedy!!!
Thank you sir! Hope you guys are doing well.
Just recieved mine and I dont have a rubber spacer at all. Is it not needed? 2016 charger hellcat
I've been trying to figure a way to limit the danger of blowing the diff. Thanks.
Question, I have air ride Suspension on my 2016 challenger R/T will this product be a issue when I Air out my car?
Unless you drag the sub frame I don't see how it could be.
@@SpeedysGarage thank you🤙
Great video. I can't wait to start on my Hellcat. I like the red to. I'm going to copy this upgrade and driveshaft. Did you do an air intake or oil catch can?
Check the channel for other additions :)
Just something to mention. I know space is limited and you torqued with the crows foot as properly as possible. To anybody doing this. You want to torque with the crows foot as close to 90 degrees as possible. You do not want the crows foot straight out from the head of the torque wrench.
Perfect! The clearance for oil fill is key. Thank you. This is what I'll order for my pair of 2016 Cats. 👌 Was gonna buy another firearm today (Stoeger Stainless steel double barrel Stage Coach shotgun), but the price of that, case, & ammo would cover 2 diff braces for my Cats. 🤔 Besides, my Benelli M4 semiauto is already sitting around doing nothing. 🙄 My Hellcats, yup! Used weekly! 😄
do you like that floor jack ?
Yep, get the 3000 pound model, the heavy duty one though. I bent the 2000 pound (I think) one.
Speedy's Garage I decided to go with the steel low profile extended reach 3ton it's heavy but stable lower than the aluminum and higher lift so also good for my truck
What do you torque the 13mm bracket bolts too? I must've missed it in the video.
I got 75ftlbs for the 16mm driver and passenger bracket bolts though
There wasn't a torque spec for those listed, just tighten until the rubber spacer starts to bulge.
So, what's the purpose of this mod again?
Helps keep the rear diff from breaking.
Breaking? How would it break? Sounds like I do need to invest in one.
Better do some Googling on that. The aluminum housing has been known as a weak point.
do you know what diameter and thread are the crossmember bolts?
Not off the top of my head.
They should have designed the brace with clearance for the driver's side differential bolt.
Off topic, but Speedy do you recommend both a passenger side catch can, and a driver side catch can, or just the passenger side??
I'm only going to do the passenger side on mine. Already placed the order with Billet Technologies with some other goodies, so stay tuned for that :)
I have a 2016 Scat my cross member is threaded will the supplied bolts work ?
Yep.
What does this part you are installing actually do?
Strengthens the rear diff.
Question, off topic for a moment- do you use a Radar detector or Dash cams? I was just curious.
I use radar detectors. I'm more worried about that than what would be seen on a video.
Noticed you were using thick wall impact sockets, but it looks like there may be clearance for a standard wall socket?... instead of a crow's foot.
I didn't try that but good call out. My only concern would be the required 75ft/lbs of torque on a standard socket. Good ones might hold up.
Standard socket won't work on the drivers side, been there already. If they machined the bracket you'd be able to use a std. wobble, but no dice the way it's made.
Same experience as Greg V said. Crow's foot is the only option other than an open end wrench.
Are you going to add 309 gearing?
I don't think so. The guys from OSTDyno.com are running in the mid to low 9s with a 2.62.
Wait... am I missing parts?
I just got mine and I didnt get no rubber spacer. Did you get one?
