Like many games i love, this one is driven by the theme and how that theme connects to its gameplay. And what a theme it is. I think this is my fav science game, if you discount something like Leavign Earth, which probably counts. What is your fav science game? (PS, something is off with the subtitles today, ill sort it out once you tube stops being weird).
This one is out of stock at miniature market, but their new game Genotype is available here: www.miniaturemarket.com/gns1011.html
Theme is gold for me when it comes to board games. My wife, who is a lab technician, absolutely loves this game - however, I could never figure out how to play it. It's like trying to learn a game in a different language.
Ha, sounds like one of my good friends who wife spends most of her day in a clean room messing around with biological things, she also kicks ass at all the genius games
Yass looks great Jarrod!👍
Ah, nothing quite like flashbacks to high school biology on a Friday evening
Hahaha, yep. Bio was one subject i actually liked at school, probably why i like this game
@@3MBG Same. I was in a class with extended bio and chemistry and I still think it was fun.
"Reasonably complex." (brain explodes) ;-)
Lol, that's most because of the terms. Its really just "place worker to get green thing, then place another to put green thing somewhere"
Really like this game, great blend of theme and mechanics. (You'll find my name on the "Science behind..." leaflet.) Very excited by the upcoming sequel, Cellulose.
Yeah, keen to get cellulose, and love that you were on the science bit. It's a neat thing genius games does and why i like spotlighting them
@@3MBG I would recommend genotype for the gameplay (also, plays well solo), but doesn't achieve the same depth scientifically.
Gonna play this with my genetics lab members.
Gidday from another kiwi. Just found your channel today. Starting to get into board games. Do you guys have a store to play in …. Once the real life pandemic level lowers
All depends where you are mate. I grew up in Hamilton and we had games clubs and Mark 1, but im now in Wellington which has 3 different places to play games. That said, i mostly just host people at my place.
I'm guessing you are in Auckland, in which case, my condolences for the long lockdown. kia kaha.
I've been to a couple of places up there, Cakes and Ladders and Dice and Fork are both good. the first one is not too far from the central hospital, and the other is in the Victoria park market complex
I think I only have one realistic science game. High Frontier 4 All. Love it so far. Only had it a short time. But I love how real science, engineering gives me a place I can pretend I am living out The Martian.
I have that as well, its a beast.
I have it too. There's not many science games as it should be.
Have you tried the virus expansion? If so, what’s your take on it?
I've got it, but not played it sorry
@@3MBG thank you
My only gripe with Cytosis, is the box it comes in. The box was too small and barely fit everything in, which means you cannot use any containers for the cards or put bins for component storage. It is the x^2/2x biological organism consumption necessity to size ratio all over again, demonstrated by the game box.
I rarely do that with games, mines in plastic baggies and it all fits with the expansion
Fun and educational? Sign me up! 😂
Damn I hate you now. I need to play this, but it is out of stock anywhere reasonably close. Need to ship it from somewhere :/ Thank you for great review as always though.
As a biotechnology dropout I had to get this game.
Too bad there isn't a mitochondria action to take over the cell to produce the ultimate being lol , darn im old
Wtf is a kyriakoto?
"Hello all" in Te Reo Maori one of my countries official languages. And its kia ora koutou
