No,you`re not! Her body language speaks for itself! All these mini movements to reduce her stress level I live in europe , so I never heard of the "Kevin & Bean Show! Amazing, that these morons, are allowed to interview other human beings!
Yes, it was obvious. Laura and James were being sweet and courteous Something must have happened before the interview, as well, because you could read their faces and see they were not their usual comfortable selves. Too many personal questions to Laura....maybe she wasn't ready to answer them...and truthfully, they are there to promote a new album, why should she be asked so many personal questions.
Wow. That interviewer really wasn't being cool. Cracking transphobic jokes and using the incorrect pronouns. I love when Laura told them that "just because you're diagnosed with cancer doesn't make you an expert on it." This is a very personal thing for her; she's so brave to do it in public. But the interviewer pretty much ignored her music to just ask questions they could have researched themselves!
I don't know how its not completely obvious to these ignorant interviewers the level of uncomfortability both James and Laura are feeling during this. it makes me feel awkward.
When he said Tom, he was referring to the time when Tom came out to James as transgender. He was he then and coincidentally went by Tom. Him saying "he or she" was a human mistake and Laura corrected him. No harm done.
The interviewer asked some things that made me wiggle in my chair a bit but I feel like Laura can handle anything. Also, I was a fan of AM! before she started transitioning, so I know nothing about it. Only what I hear from her. I know that as a front woman of a punk band she's putting the issue more in everyone's face but that doesn't mean people just automatically know the correct terms and what not to say. And I mean, these dudes don't seem very PC so they just crack jokes. It's whatever. People are still learning. I don't really care. She used to be Tom, now she's Laura but that hasn't changed the way I feel about her as a musician or how I feel about the band. If anything, I'm like fuck yeah look at that lady shred, she's awesome! But I thought she was awesome before too. She is who she is and I don't feel the need to know everything about it I just like the band's music.
Yeah I agree with this, I think if she'd been that bothered she would have walked out, she's either got the patience of a saint or knew what she was dealing with anyway. At the same time, perhaps she just knows she's gonna get all these questions now since it's a really big deal and wants to help other people going through the same thing
All these people making comments about how awful these radio hosts were... Against me wasn't forced to come on this radio show. There are people who don't understand what this person is going through and who are very curious. That doesn't make them horrible people. If she didn't want to answer she could have left. I thought the hosts were very respectful and asked questions that the average person would want to know.
But they weren't being respectful. The "ball-less" joke was disrespectful. To me the whole tone was disrespectful. I know how radio personalities are and that kind of humor doesn't bother me. I just think they should have done a little research on the subject before the interview.
MsMercury If you don't like the show you don't have to listen. Or you could demand an apology and then demand they get fired even after they apologize. Then sit there feeling satisfied with yourself. People in this country are way to sensitive. This was harmless. Also I just made breakfast for dinner.
You are wrong. I'm not sensitive at all. I've got thick skin. You are going way overboard. I don't listen to the show as a matter of fact. I only watched this clip because it's Laura Jane Grace. It was my opinion that they were insensitive. That's all. They don't need to be fired or anything like that. Damn.
MsMercury Sorry. I wasn't talking about you specifically. I'm just so frustrated with the phony sensitivity and outrage some people cry about these days. A guy from my favorite radio show got canned a few months ago. It drives me nuts.
Trust me. I'm not sensitive or easily offended at all. I hate political correctness. It's gotten to a point that EVERYONE wants to be offended by something so they can get some attention. It's also gotten to the point that there is almost no freedom of speech. Drives me crazy too.
All of you guys in the comments are referring to the guy as the interviewer. Apparently your not from LA n know of the Kevin and bean show lol. KROQ...
The interviewer had that crass, casual sort of way that assumes a lot of the interviewee. Any body that is cisgender and says i know what you must be going through is simply being condescending in a really rude and actually uncaring way. It is as if the interviewer was offering a look at how easy going and wonderful i am towards this TG person, dig me.
You guys need to calm down. I've listened to these guys for a long time and I know they weren't trying to be mean. That's not the type of show they run. They don't have people on to make fun of them. Since the name of the album is "Transgender Dysphoria Blues", I'm guessing they figured Against Me is trying to raise awareness of the disorder, so they were trying to give them an opportunity to enlighten people and maybe help people that may be listening that might be going through it. Was the way they asked it right? No, but they admitted that. The intent of the questions was valid, however. For those of you saying they should be fired... come on. Not everything has to be politically correct. That shit is making the world a boring and dull place. You all, and Against Me for that matter, seriously need a sense of humor. If you don't like the interview or the way it was handled, fine, say so. But get off your pedestals. There are people out there that really are being mean spirited, but you're wasting your time with some good natured people just trying to put on a show.
My point was the interviewer needed to at least read up on the subject of transgender. I don't think he should be fired but he could have been more sensitive.
MsMercury There's nothing wrong with being ignorant on a subject so long as you're open to learning about it, which I think they were. That is why they were asking so many questions. They admitted they handled the interview badly in the next segment.
Mirthlesslaugh Oh they did? I'd like to have heard what they had to say. Yes, they could have handled it better. I don't think they are malicious guys and I know they don't bring on guests to make fun of them. Well at least they realized they could have handled it better.
The Kevin & Bean show is a morning show. Don't expect the best interviewers. I'm a Southern California native and have been listening to them for years. They are good people. Just don't expect serious journalism. It concerns me that she looks a little down. But, she may not be a morning person.
Such sensitive folks commenting on here. I thought that Bean was fine and Laura handled everything well. I guess sensitive fans will always want special treatment. The new album rocks btw.
I'm sure dude didn't mean any disrespect by it, it seemed like a slip yo me. I bet even James has slipped once or twice and said tom shortly after the change.
"He OR she"?? Hello!? SHE! Fucking Christ. My heart hurt looking at Laura's reaction to the interviewers insensitivity.
this entire interview made me so pissed
That guy is incredibly ignorant. Good on Laura for keeping her cool and remaining polite. She rocks!!
Wow this interviewer should be fired. What a totally jackass. Props to Laura for not walking out I so would have. She handled this with total grace.
Am I the only one that thought this was an extremely uncomfortable interview...?
No,you`re not! Her body language speaks for itself! All these mini movements to reduce her stress level I live in europe , so I never heard of the "Kevin & Bean Show! Amazing, that these morons, are allowed to interview other human beings!

I love this part most. Interviewer: He or She... Laura: She.
Laura handled this so good
Wow. That interviewer really wasn't being cool. Cracking transphobic jokes and using the incorrect pronouns. Laura said "she" with so much sass. Also this is why I don't listen to Kevin & Bean anymore. Instead I rock out to Against Me's new album.
i realize it is kind of off topic but do anybody know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Cassius Jimmy I use FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
@Cassius Jimmy try FlixZone. You can find it by googling =)
Why have James on the show when they're not even gonna ask him any questions? And also, I wish they would have talked more about the music...
I don't know how its not completely obvious to these ignorant interviewers the level of uncomfortability both James and Laura are feeling during this. it makes me feel awkward.
They make bad, bad jokes. It's okay not to laugh.
ugh....the interviewer was rather rude calling laura tom and he :/
When he said Tom, he was referring to the time when Tom came out to James as transgender. He was he then and coincidentally went by Tom. Him saying "he or she" was a human mistake and Laura corrected him. No harm done.
She.
Seriously, a very cringy interview, they don't get it, you know they don't.
"He or she"... That was rude.
The interviewer asked some things that made me wiggle in my chair a bit but I feel like Laura can handle anything. I feel so bad for Laura. At this point in her life, she shouldn’t have to correct this guy on her pronouns. He is so disrespectful.
she looks so uncomfortable, and sad, it upsets me a lot....this guys a jerk
wow, this dude has no respect.
be who u r fuck the rest be you an who u want
Guy came off as rude but it kinda points out how clueless people are. It'll get better
All of you guys in the comments are referring to the guy as the interviewer. Apparently your not from LA n know of the Kevin and bean show lol. KROQ...
But the main reason why I came to the comments section too was cause I thought he was being a bit insensitive as well.
The interviewer had that crass, casual sort of way that assumes a lot of the interviewee. Honestly, I was cringing during this interview. Get your pronouns right. LJG looked so uncomfortable. /:
hhhhhhhhhhhh when she has to correct the interviewer referring to her with the wrong pronouns
The Kevin & Bean show is a morning show. Don't expect the best interviewers. I'm a Southern California native and have been listening to them for years. They are good people. Just don't expect serious journalism.

4:06 - Awkward.
Oh big time! She looks pretty pissed there. I love that she corrected him though.
