22K views?? i genuinely did not expect this kind of response to this game, thank you all for checking it out and for watching some of my other content as well!
The arcade version of this game is still around, remember playing this around mid to late 2010s in a bolling alley when i was a kid. The idle screen when not in use is the truck trying to outrun a train, it looked awsome to me.
Maybe give Long Horn a try, I know he has low speed stats, but as a kid I struggled just as much as you did, but then I picked Long Horn and basically beat the game in one try, also, watch your shifting like a hawk, low gear is for lower speeds, it accelerates faster but has less top speed. High gear is for when you get up and moving, it lets the truck go faster, but if you slow down too much on a turn or after you hit something like a wall, it will bog you down and you'll need to shift back down to low gear until you build up more momentum again. In later stages you'll get MASSIVELY steep hills you need to climb, they will cause you to lose speed and you will need to shift into low gear for them too.
I still got this game somewhere in my GameCube collection, put an unnecessary amount of hours just to unlock that secret funky Japanese truck 😂. Good times.
I grew up in New Jersey and went to the shore one a year or so. They had this in one of the arcades and it was one of the best arcade games ever. You sat in this like small scale truck cab and had a truck sized steering wheel. It was amazing.
@@NickWagerGames I only played it on holiday to Florida in a big McDonald's the one there was a standing only back in 2005/06. Though a few years later I bought the PS2 version, like in the video and that's how I completed this game.
@Xegethra There's actually 2 cab versions. A standerd and a deluxe, the deluxe one is a behemoth of a machine, standing over 8 feet tall with a 50 inch screen, you could fit 2 or 3 full sized adults in the seat
I actually owned/played this game on console as a kid before ever knowing about it being an arcade game. Needless to say, I had more than enough experience and time logged into this game by the time I saw it in a arcade. I could beat it with any truck first try as a kid. This makes me want to download and beat it again! haha
During the little exposure that I had back when this game was a trend, the one thing that I figured out is that the only stat that means anything is Speed.
Thank you for helping me remember some great memories. This was an awesome arcade game with the steering wheel and everything. It was inside a movie theater. Great times!
I remember NFS Underground 2 had a Best Buy and a few Burger Kings. Probably the one that sticks out to me the most though is Red Bull being on the loading screens for WipEout 2097
Thank you so much for taking me down memory lane :) I agree this game was my first taste of what the ps2 graphics were like in the arcades. Your absolutely right about the game being hard as nails because in the arcade it was like trying to drive an elephant with a drinking problem and I was more focused on trying to control the truck that I wasn't too terribly focused on the vans:(
Man I completely forgot about this game. Watching this video brought back so many childhood memories. I had the actual game for Sega Dreamcast. Thanks for sharing this!
I remember playing it on Dreamcast. It is tough at first, but once you master it, it's a breeze. But playing it on the arcade, I can see why it is challenging.
CDL-A professional driver here. For those wondering, I can say that this(Being a Florida based game location) isn’t that far off from real life traffic.
I’ll never forget the amount of hours I spent at chuck E Cheese and Dave n busters playing this game as a kid. With the big ass wheel. Never knew them vans gave more time. I remember going to GameStop one day and seeing this game for ps2. I had a ps3 at the time but my mom had no wifi so I was looking for old games to play on the ps2 when I visit her and I randomly seen this and madden 09. Had no idea the game was from the arcade just was a kid into trucks and football. The moment I booted it up and realized the gem I stumbled on I was ecstatic. I remember that day vividly.
Played this in the arcade area in the movie theaters. Had the steering wheel. Was probably like 13 or 14 at the time lol. I’m 29 now, driving an 18 wheeler 🚛. I wish this game was in the App Store
@ yeah there really wasn’t much to it. I also got it for Dreamcast as well. I bought a GameShark and put on the infinite time cheat. I would spend hours upon hours exploring the maps, which wasn’t much but still pretty fun!
OMG! I never thought I’d see this game again. I loved playing it as a kid at the arcade. I didn’t know they ever made it for the ps2. This game got me into 18 wheels of steel at home. Then of course the American truck SIM games even to this day. At the arcade, I absolutely love the big steering wheel for this game. And the driving mechanics in this game were surprisingly very well done with the suspension and everything.
I saw this video by chance and immediately clicked. I remember this game so vividly and I remember just being an absolute moron. This was around the same time I played Medal of Honor Frontline and I sucked at that game too but I was like 6 so I don’t blame myself too much. I think I spent most of my time in this game playing some type of free mode on the circular track and just going in circles Thanks for jogging my memory dude!
I played the Dreamcast version of this game. I remember just playing it as a kid not realizing you're supposed to beat that other trunk because I hardly saw on screen
If you ever play again you should hold X at the start screen and hit start while holding X until the main menu and you unlock a bonus truck. (Or beat game with all 4 trucks)
I was lucky to beat this when I was 8. I figured out how to strategically shift gears at the right moments before the game hints came up. It was hard, but fun!
I just wanna say thank you to Nick for uploading this video and to the algo for recommending it to me. Ive been trying to remeber what it was called for months now!
I remember the monster of a setup the arcade version had. Think I played it at a Dave & Buster’s. You had to climb up a step to sit in it and you had the giant old school truck steering wheel and an enormous screen. It was awesome!
My go to game back at Chuck E Cheese. Oh the memories. I had the honor of playing King of route 66 at a Walmart many years ago. The game had a CB mic. I also had the Honor of playing "Big mutha truckers".
hey man. i read the title and saw the thumbnail and i thought i should tell you. there is a sequel on ps2. which is much more difficult. its called the king of route 66.
In the early 2000s me and my mate were obsessed with the parking part of the game on the PS2 version. I still have my original copy somehwhere, but my mate passed in 2015. This brought back a nice memory of that time.
First time played this game was around 2004 at Chuck E. Cheese I was 8 lol. Then I had it on PS2 ever since! It's funny that those 18 wheeler games made me a real life trucker today! Nostalgic 🫡
I remember I had that game when I beat that game. I forget how many times I think it was like five. The game was so hard when I first got into it but still a good game.
We still have this in an arcade near where I live although I found out there was a character to unlock because in the arcade he was unlocked from the let go because I used to play this all the time on the gamecube.
i beat this game in an arcade machine at a boomers in florida when i was probably 12. it was at the chuck e cheese by my house for my entire childhood. i got it for ps2 now
I remember watching some Frat Dude playing this in a bowling alley arpund 01 or 02 and he got insanely far. Had a flatbed trailer with a bulldozer or something on it.
I remember beating this in the arcade a few years back. Been tempted to pick up the home port, but IDK if it would be the same without that _massive_ steering wheel. I guess if it works with PS2 racing wheels I could try to attach a hula hoop to mine, lol!
22K views?? i genuinely did not expect this kind of response to this game, thank you all for checking it out and for watching some of my other content as well!
The algorithm probably picked up on it since trucking games, literally in the title, have grown very popular in the last few years
The arcade version of this game is still around, remember playing this around mid to late 2010s in a bolling alley when i was a kid. The idle screen when not in use is the truck trying to outrun a train, it looked awsome to me.
Was the arcade version the one with a giant truck steering wheel and pedals? I loved that!
@@Pabster207Yep! Our movie theater had it, that was the best part of going to see Frozen 😂
I remember playing this as a kid at the arcades, with steering wheel and all. It was great
This is so nostalgic, I loved this game, This, Crazy Taxi, and Big Mutha Truckers.
Absolutely. I still throw on Big Mutha Truckers for PS2 from time to time for the nostalgia lol
I hated crazy taxi
Oh bro we had to grow up in the same era lol because you just named the big 3! I had big mutha truckers for $9.95😂 I still remember the commercial.
Big mutha truckers was the bomb ❤
I remember the arcade, hearing 18 WHEEEEEELLERRRRRRRR and the massive steering wheel. This looks exactly how I remember it.
Ahh i miss the old 18 wheels games they were on another level. Now i binge play American truck simulator lol

I've never seen the cab version. Only the stand up one. I didn't know there was a cab one.....

They don’t have arcade rooms like they used to, had one here in nyc in a laundromat with the full mini cab set up , was so cool as a kid
@Xegethra There's actually 2 cab versions. A standerd and a deluxe, the deluxe one is a behemoth of a machine, standing over 8 feet tall with a 50 inch screen, you could fit 2 or 3 full sized adults in the seat

"I'm Lizard Tail! Number One trucker in the U S of A, and don't you forget it!" all time gaming villain
Big Rigs Over the Road Racing almost destroys the universe when a truck goes in reverse.

Hard Trucks 2 King of The Road is another one I love
Crap man I used to beat this game on the regular while my parents shopped in Walmart! I loved it
I remember getting this game on my Dreamcast for Xmas and beating it that same night. I was a little disappointed as to how short the game was

It's crazy now they use these in truck driving academy. Some of the big name carriers use them during orientation for new drivers fresh out of school.

I played this game a few times in arcades. I always love trucks. It took a few tries to beat all the levels.
Remember playing this like 20 years ago it was my favorite game at chuckie cheese 😂 Thanks for reminding me this existed so many flashbacks
I remember the monster of a setup the arcade version had. Think I played it at a Dave & Buster’s. You had to climb up a step to sit in it and you had the giant old school truck steering wheel and an enormous screen. It was awesome!
Hah i played this as a arcade machine when im young many years ago. But! I didn't know this game is on ps2! I had alot of fun before.
Man I played through this so much on my GameCube, I hope one day I can afford an actual arcade version of this and Cruisin the USA

I remember playing this game in Chuck E. Cheese when I was a kid… now I drive trucks for a living 🤣🤣🤣
I remember playing this game as a kid as well.
Shortcuts are good and all, but don't forget to stay behind the truck and get that slipstream speed bonus
Played this game in a local bowling ally as my parents were bowling doubles. This and Gauntlet legends!
Great game, Texas Hawk and Lizard 🦎 Tail. The music was good as well. 18-Wheeler and the Hard Truck series for the PC were some of my other favorites.
I beat this game as a kid on my dream cast
Same
This game is the only reason i actually enjoy trucking in gta v, but this game has such fun truck driving physics
Still have this on Dreamcast. Beat it as a kid. When I play as an adult I get to the desert level and usually fail and I just play something else
Oh yeah I still have this game on GameCube, hard as hell but I beat it when I was around 7-8

glad i could bring back some good memories, my friend
you gotta use the high and low gear switch more often theres a counter on the side that shows you when to shift down or up before the warning
I can hear the PS2 disc drive spinning like crazy playing this game.
I played this as a kid and same never got far but loved it
I remember having this on the ps2. Literally used to play non stop
Wow, I'd forgotten about this game. I used to rent it from Blockbuster as a kid. 😂
This is the first ever PS2 game I ever played back in 2001
Holy shit I forgot me and my dad use to play this when I was like 8 😂
It was the 1st game i got on my dreamcast back in 1999....i still play it today!!
Yooo I remember playing the arcade version as a kid!! Except I would play this in 3rd person view. Really cool to learn it was on PS2 too
They need to bring this game back

My friend had this game in high school. And Big Mutha Truckers I think was the other one 😂 both were impossible. You did pretty well here.
Loved this game. It was my first game as well I still own it to this day!!
I have looked for this game but could not find it on UA-cam I started to believe i inanimate this game but now I found it thx you
you also have to use the rival strategically thats why he exists
We still have this in an arcade near where I live although I found out there was a character to unlock because in the arcade he was unlocked from the let go because I used to play this all the time on the gamecube.
i beat this game in an arcade machine at a boomers in florida when i was probably 12. it was at the chuck e cheese by my house for my entire childhood. i got it for ps2 now
I remember 18 wheels of steel as a kid
I owned this game as a kid and i can honestly say this game was extremely DIFFICULT!!! I couldn’t even get passed the second mission 😂😂
I used to play this on the Dreamcast and completed it many times. It was a challenge tho.
Core memory unlocked
dude i had this for Ps2, my disc was purple, so many memories of this game and getting my ass beat to the rival truck.
The parking challenges are crazy
You HAVE to find and play this thing on one of the big arcade machines.
My mom bought me this game and i played it everyday for hours
definitely got this game for playstation at like one of them school book fairs lmao! core memory dude
My dad had this game but i have no memory of it. Just heard stories.
I remember watching some Frat Dude playing this in a bowling alley arpund 01 or 02 and he got insanely far. Had a flatbed trailer with a bulldozer or something on it.
I have this game for gamecube. I beat every level. But it took me awhile. Especially the timed ones where you have to miss cones and stuff.
Chuck E. Cheese had a cab back in the day it would always rob me lol
I'm 50 an this brings me back
I played this game in walmart in Tullahouma, Tennessee.
I remember beating this in the arcade a few years back. Been tempted to pick up the home port, but IDK if it would be the same without that _massive_ steering wheel. I guess if it works with PS2 racing wheels I could try to attach a hula hoop to mine, lol!
It works on PS2 wheels. I played it with a Logitech Driving Force
Core memory right here
I've played this game before years ago and enjoyed it on PS2
It's only hard when it's timed a race against time, it can't be like san Andreas where some trucking missions allows you to take your time.
I went from 18 wheeler to playing American Truck Simulator. I upgraded lol
I remember this game it was fun back in the days 👍🏻👍🏻
i remember playing this at an arcade machine at a movie threaer when i was a kid
This was super fun back in 2008
Played this around the same age as u man. I loved this game
I played this on Dreamcast soo much as a kid. Never got past the 2nd level though
That seems kinda fun
I still have the high score on the one I played as a kid
Truck Racing on PS5 begs to differ that game is hard
when i get a ps5, I'll have to give that a go
I played this on GameCube as a kid!
I remember playing the crap out of this game on the GameCube, I think I mainly picked longhorn to play thru the game cause he has the most torque.
I always went to the truck stop just to play the arcade. Still own the PlayStation version to this day
I completed the game with the truck (long horn) ya he's a 2 speed but he has max torque which makes up for it in the turns and going up hills
Played this at Dave & Busters as a kid then had it on PS2
