Thoroughly impressed with your channel and the quality of builds. Shocked to see Lippert axles here, given their recent history. No chance of getting Dexters? Been there done that with Libbert. Run a few Bwise trailers with Dexters and never an issue. Was looking to purchase a couple of more, but this might be a show stopper.

We were with Dexter for quite a number of years and switched to Lippert mid 2019. Just over 2 years ago and 40,000+ axles used so far we can say we are confident in the decision we made. The reality we’ve seen over the years is that no matter what in a manufactured item like axles you will have some issues from time to time. We’ve seen no more issues with the Lippert product than we were seeing with the Dexter before the change. At the end of the day the warranty coverage is longer on the Lippert product and they do a great job taking care of the issues we do see.
Additionally Lippert has come to the table and collaborated with us on multiple different innovation projects which was a real challenge with Dexter.
We hope this gives a little insight into our decision to run with Lippert. 😁

This may sound crazy. But in the 60’s & 70’s this was done after any new break job. But, then most cars were drum brakes on both front & back. I remember “Bill” telling me this was not required on disc breaks. I learned volumes from that man. Automotive, Mechanical, Baseball, & life skills. That man was something else. All of this knowledge was freely given to anyone who asked. He would diagnose cars based on the sounds they made. And would make sounds to describe them if you couldn’t do it yourself. He was honest as the day was long. You, (Jacob) remind me of him. I am proud to own a Diamond C, and Will be purchasing another very soon. Thank you. Oh, and I will be teaching my grandsons this too. So, hopefully this gets passed down!
I had just bought a new 14K 20' and was thinking on my first pulls that my old trailer had better working brakes.
Now after some break in use I notice that they do work better. Your video helped me to understand this process.

Years ago they used to ark the brakes when cars and trucks were all drum brakes. They did this on semi's also. Then they out lawed that practice so we now have to break in the brakes.
Should probably tell the dealers about this I've bought 2 diamond c this year no one ever said anything about this.
I agree with concerns about safety while breaking in brakes. Large trucks are the same way. Brakes musk be seated for safe operation. Also keep in mind those procedures are mostly pertaining to RV trailers that are heavier than an unloaded gooseneck or utility trailer. So to avoid sliding your tires and flat spotting them I suggest a load of some kind to ensure traction on the trailer tires. I’m not saying fully loaded or even close to that. Just a load to hold the tires to the road.
Well said. This detail should not be overlooked or you will be buying new tires especially if you don't have the option to release due to road or traffic conditions.

too bad the trailer companies dont put this information out when someone buys a new trailer. it would have saved tons of axles / brakes when buying new trailers. Thanks DC for putting this info out

One trip around Atlanta on I-285 should have them well burnished! Quick question: Why is one lug marked on each of the wheels on the stack of trailer axles? I noticed the video clip showed one of the lugs marked as well.

I had one brake lock up and smoked. The drum shows some discoloration and the shoes have a black stripe down them (but still lots of meat and no cracking). All springs etc look good. If the burnishing process can show smoke, does this mean my brake drum an shoes may not be bad and need replacing? just adjustment? (I replaced the master cylinder and shock and plan to bleed the brakes. Thanks in advance.
Hi Jacob, a few days ago I watched a video on youtube in regards to a new Diamond C trailer cord catching fire. Is this a common issue on these trailers or was this a rare occurrence? Not sure if you heard about this issue or not.
I bought a new FMAX212 trailer and hooked up to either of my trucks I get 5.H shorted out brake message on the Tekonsha P2. I unplugged the brake harness on the back axle and it went out. I plugged it back in and cut the wires on the passenger side and the message went away pinpointing a short on the brake output wiring on that wheel. I ohmed that magnet after I cut the wires and it's only .2, the other side was 3.4. Do you have troubles with new magnets on trailers sometimes? Also the first time I tried out the hydraulic dovetail, the pump reservoir puked oil out the top and ran out of the tool box.

Great question! No sir, unfortunately we don’t do air brakes at this time.
So basically you are driving in a unsafe vehicle until this is completed and not a single dealer has every mention this to me. Sounds like a huge liability to all trailer dealers.
No liability to them, im sure somewhere on some tag or paper it tells the owner to read and follow all manufacturer break in and safety procedures.
No, if you buy your trailer from a reputable dealership then you get a information packet from them when you purchase the trailer. You’re supposed to read and understand all the information that you’re given. It’s NOT the dealerships fault if you don’t ask questions before you leave with YOUR new liability 🤷🏼♂️
Knowledge an operator don't need told
being that most RV's are towed to a dealer somewhere after theyre built , why wouldnt the delivery driver had them done

True for RVs… not for our style trailers. They are hauled to the dealers in semi trailer loads.
