Zhang is the Chinese George Foreman!!! The way he's so relaxed in the ring, so agile for such a massive guy, the way he walks through his opponents punches, but most of all, the way he's so heavy handed even his lighter shots made Joyce shudder reminds of Big George Mark II. And like George, he's gonna be dangerous well into his 40s.

That was a clinical finish from Zhang. It was well timed(teased him with the left jab and followed it quickly with that heavy right), time-bound (round 3 was just perfect, we didn't have to watch 12 rounds of punishment), and timely(10 seconds to the end of the round.. and that was a very fast count to 10)....
On the flip side, heavy weight boxing has become boring.. with Tyson Fury holding unto belts, not fighting the real people, and having social media and celebrity fights, Usyk enjoying bouts with amateur knee-taking D, Anthony Joshua now a shadow of himself, happy to win a 7-day unprepared fighter, Deontay Wilder warming gyms till when, Andy Ruiz...? 😀 where is he?.. and disappointing Dallian Whyte ...I mean these guys should make the real fights happen
Zhang is a dangerous heavyweight because he's actually a techinicalled skilled boxer with decent footwork and explosive hand speed + power. He knows when to let those hands go. Another thing that impresses me is the way he uses his footwork to move in and out of range, and also put more power into the punches. Dangerous heavyweight!

It looks like Zhang knew exactly what he was gonna do and executed the plan early and effectively. Joyce is slow and stationary and Zhang is constantly working and has cold intentions in EVERY punch . Nicely done

Lets not forget.. Joyce was in a mandatory position, and didnt have to take either of these fights. Zhang gave a decorated fighter like Hrgovic absolute hell, and he still chose to fight him when he didnt need to.
He came unstuck sadly, but he at least spoke volumes of his willingness to fight the best. Which is more than we can say for most other fighters in this current era...

I agree but really Joe is not smart. He has the skills of an unpromising absolute beginner. When he beat Parker it proved that my low grading of Parker was correct.
When I watched Zhang fight Hrgovic live I was certain Zhang had won.

Zhang was also coming off some heart problems not too long before. They saw zhang was near 40. Don't forget zhang also drew after, same thing, stamina. But now i think zhang is back to better fitness so he can have more decisive fights.

yeah, it was a good fight, but Hrgovic got exposed for his weak defence and stamina issues so bad that it was tough to give him advantage in that fight. I also felt that Zhang won that fight @@ArgonViat

It's extremely difficult when a fighter has your number to then come back and win a rematch. Zhang inflicted such a devastating loss on Joe in the first fight, that coming into the second, weighed heavily on his mind. Zhang looked much more comfortable and confident in the second fight whereas Joyce looked timid. Beating your opponent should come naturally it doesn't come by jumping up and down on the spot overthinking your next move due to a previous loss. All it takes is the slightest lapse in concentration and it's over. Hope Joe comes back from this bigger and better 🙏
Can't believe Zhang is more accurate with speed and power on the rematch. If Zhang keeps it up he will be an unstoppable force in the heavyweight division.

Damn! Didn't know Zhang was this fast. Always knew he has power. But the speed and accuracy for a very large boxer is just phenomenal. Joyce was dangerously docile and inactive. Best defense is always some offense.

He's always been a slow motion boxer! I like how Zhang at the end of round 2 literally puffed his chest out heading back to the corner knowing he has it in the bag.
Zhang is one of those guys that might have gone through his whole career without anyone noticing him and with all the top guys silently avoiding him. But props to Joyce, he unwillingness to shy away from any challenge has now put the spotlight on Zhang. It's just a shame it's come so late in his career. No way will guys like Fury, Wilder or Joshua want to risk fighting him now but everyone knows he can only have a couple of years left in him at best. Such a shame.
Zhang Vs Fury would be tasty. And Wilder. AJ would be a similar fate to Joyce.

@@rtaylor2177 I disagree, I think Zhang has a good chance of beating Wilder and Joshua. He would have a harder time with Usyk and Fury because of their style, speed and skill levels but he still deserves a crack at them nonetheless.

The ref made the right decision, he was getting hammered before the big blow, of the ref had let him carry on he'd be down again a few seconds later.
It was not a haymaker, it was a calculated, distance-measured heavy punch

Zhang knew he had nothing to fear from Joyce after the first fight, JJ is lucky Zhang's age kept him from finishing him even earlier. All throughout JJ's career he's only known how to do a few simple things good and when he finally met a south-paw with a KO punch...he never saw any of it coming.

Joyce looked so slow, like he was punching underwater, Zhang after 1st round knew that it's not gonna last very long, just nailing him with everything for 2 rounds and that right hook that ended the fight was a pure beauty!

Joe Joyce is a Top Fighter and a Truly Great Guy all round, as a British Boxing Fan it was hard watching him get stopped so conclusively but Joe is both brave and strong so he can regroup and come back successfully from this big setback.
Zhang is a very talented Heavyweight, he is highly skilled, heavy handed and regularly throws his shots with bad intention . . . this finishing blow is probably going to be hard to top, in fact it's instantly a very strong contender for Knockout of the Year. 😓🎯👊

Joe relied on his chin his whole career to compensate for his lack of head movement. He was scared coming in knowing that Zhang had the power to hurt him from the first fight and it looked like his only solution was to try the same strategy and hope he could outlast Zhang until the old guy got tired. Instead I'm pretty sure we just saw the definitive breaking of Joe Joyce's once granite chin.😔

Only if Joyce could add little bit of speed and agility. He seems to be fighting like Foreman, but unlike Foreman who can soak in big punches and still counter with speed, Joyce had killer punches but so slow and Zhang capitalized on his apparent weakness.

I feel for Joyce. He's a limited domestic level fighter who over achieved in beating Parker, which led to him being pushed to fringe world level, and now he's been found out. Zhang won't trouble the top guys, but hits way too hard for somebody as static as Joe. He should retire for the sake of his health, but he probably won't.
Zhang is a classy guy. He won the crowd over with his performance and also with his noble conduct. He showed real respect for Joyce and even visited him in his changing room after the fight. Let's hope Zhang gets his chance with the top guys now.

OK, Joyce hasn't been great, but been impressed by Zhang in these two fights. Is there a better fighter outside the Top 5 or so than Zhang? Would like to see him take on some bigger names but they'll probably dodge this Zhang cos it's too much of a risk. The guy can punch.

Can only describe that performance by Joyce as bizarre. He didn't just look like he'd never boxed before, but he looked like he'd never seen anybody else box before! Don't know what he was thinking, apart from that he didn't want to be in that ring. Zhang is a class act.
Joyce takes at least 5/6 rounds to warm up.. gets a little looser.. but against zhang, never gonna happen.

Joe Joyce just got slow hands and no defense. When they brag about a chin thats never a good sign.
So simple for Zhang, Joe was such an easy target., so slow and hesitant. Zhang’s pretend bluff teasing him with the prodding right in the face, before swinging in that left to the body which turned out to be the real bluff before that devastating right to Joe’s unprotected head. I just don’t think Joe could keep up with what was going on. He would have been far better off getting right into Zhang’s face from the opening bell, keeping him under pressure, mauling and leaning on him (Zhang’s his weakness is that he gets tired.) Zhang’s best work is at range when he is allowed the space to tee off, and Joe let that happen.
Best commentator around for me. Would have him in UFC, Tekken, Premier League and Boxing.

We have to rate zhang now, he wasnt just lucky besting joyce the first time, we all doubted him but he proved himself with the way he dominated that fight theres no question about it zhang is a real contender with real skills.
Well given how much of a reputation Joyce was getting from having a very strong chin, to have got knocked out this way shows that Zhang is truly not a very dangerous threat in the heavyweight division with mighty power.
Zhang, similar to Rocky Marciano, makes other fighters think he has no skill whatsoever. He acts aloof sometimes and throws weak jabs. Well, as we can see, it is his counters that kill. He is that confident in them. And we all also should know that there is nothing more dangerous than a southpaw with a right hook!
If Zhang was from USA or Britain or even Ukraine he would be a megastar in the sport already. I don’t think anyone will be able to ignore him after this. World title shot beckons. He has a good chance of winning it as well. Very good indeed.

No he wouldn't be a megastar already, he's 40 years old, lost his last fight before facing Joyce, prior to that had beaten a bunch of bums without threatening any of the rankings.
Styles make fights and he looked good against Joyce, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, at best Zhang will get a couple of big payday fights in the twilight of his career. Kudos to him. But that's it, he's no superstar champ yet.

Joyce says that he will fight on. Let us hope his family and friends persuade him otherwise. He has always traded on his chin and durability compensating for his slowness and middling boxing skills. It didn't look in this fight as though he believed in his chin's invincibility anymore and so it proved. He is 38 which is old for a boxer. The few who have ever been anywhere near the top of their game, at that age, are massively outweighed by the vast majority who were past their best, way past their best mostly. Joe is a very nice , highly intelligent, man apparently. If he doesn't make the right decision, someone should tell him about the sad later life of the iron chinned Jerry Quarry and show him a video of Jerry in his last years before he died aged just 53 of Dementia Pugilistica.

People say Zhang has slow feet. Although they aren't fast, they are enough to get him into position to throw effective punches. I do think a lot of the current heavyweights wouldn't be getting hit with the punches Zhang threw against Joyce though. The top 5 heavyweights stop Zhang after round 6 with the gas tank is empty. Next fight has to be a title fight
I never heard of Zhang before the match up with Joe subsequently I did my research and found that he is definitely a problem in the heavy weight division match ups with known names must be inevitable

The first punch was a great set up.
Joyce's poor technique and his own momentum just amplified the power of that shot. It was a miracle he got up.
Joyce just didn't learn by the first fight and punished he was but tonight Zhang was the artist and he did him up again and what a punch it was.

Joyce was clearly afraid of Zhang from the beginning of the match, not daring to approach the Chinese at a small distance, and Zhang noticed that and took advantage of Joyces's fears and started punching him hard until a window opened where Zhang knocked Joyce in style with his right hand. All respect to Zhang. I think it's time for Joyce to retire. He's too slow now, and not quite motivated. Better now than later, before being more humiliated in the coming fights, damaging his good record. He's 38, he can be proud of his overall achievements.

Everything Joe Joyce said about Anthony Joshua after the Usyk defeats has been said about Joe in the last 18 or so hours, which just shows u how harsh a loss is. Unfortunately we all deal with loss differently, coz id even forgotten that Zhang lost to Hrgovic last year because he looked so confident in his fights following that defeat, whereas Joe looked like a lost puppy and it was just hard to watch even tho I was supporting Zhang. It's hard watching a dude who was so confident just 4 months ago, be completely humbled to the point where he looks like an amateur

Zhang Ruiz would be an absolute belter of a match, I would have zero idea how it would go but would love watching every second of it!

Foreman also became a world champion a second time at age 45, I'm hoping for Zhang (who is 40) to replicate such a feat. Zhang deserves a title shot.
