To Tendi it's just an embarrassing reminder of how barbaric Orion culture is compared to the more peaceful and egalitarian Federation culture that she has grown to admire. Her being good at space pirate/crime syndicate stuff makes her feel like she doesn't really belong in the federation.

@@krg-diver4655yes 3 orion women are presented to captain archer as a piece offering between the orion syndicate and starfleet, however it's revealed that its not the women who are the slaves but the men and they nearly take over the enterprise, all the men are enamored except for the chief engineer, because he has a mental bond with the vulcan first officer.
"...I said that not all Orions control men with pheromones. Some of us definitely do, just not me." This raises so many questions about Tendi. Do Orion women have voluntary control over their pheromones? If Tendi could still use Orion pheromones, under what terms did Starfleet allow her to join? Does Tendi spray herself with that pheromone neutralizing potion on a daily basis? Did she have her glands surgically removed?
A bit later it's stated that Tendi never had the pheromones; that plus Tendi's earlier statements seem to mean that the pheromones are something only a subset of Orions have. Maybe most do, maybe most don't, but from what we've seen it isn't weird that she lacks them, so I'd guess it's either a fairly even split, or most don't have pheromones.
Those are good educated guesses, @@MarshalStomm, but not sufficient for a proper report to Starfleet. Besides, isn't it improbable that D'Vana would've been elevated to her exalted position in Orion society if she lacked the pheromones? Her parents invested a lot of time and effort into educating the Tendi sisters. Further, Orion society revolves around (what we'd consider) criminal behavior. If some Orion females lacked the pheromones, that would quickly produce a two-tiered society, would it not? Or even a policy of infanticide. I don't see any evidence of that. We need more concrete answers. Thankfully LD glommed onto the Orions as the species they want to explore, and I'm here for it.
As the lady said Tendi did not need them to control people. The lady said that Tendi made men fall at her feet stricken to Tendi's embarrassment. So, pheromones are not a requirement to be the top woman on Orian. Some high-ranking women do have them, and some don't. But they all climb to the top of the social ladder one way or the other.
@@karlolson1363 Indeed, it's all the more impressive for Tendi to achieve the status she did without the ability to enthrall the men around her. Her status is truly earned, and she has all the more respect and awe for it.
