- From morning to night was non stop action! Nat catches her first ever fish and it’s was huge! Then we catch and cook one of the most beautiful looking fish in the sea on an open beach fire, was delicious!

Fish for Food
After catch and releasing many fish and keep two for the catch and cook. The first fish I keep is a Blue Spot Grouper and the second fish is a type of Trigger Fish, both are very beautiful looking fish. This time we grill the fish whole over an open beach fire. The fish was flavoured with kecap manis, masako, ketumbar, chill, lime, pepper and salt. Best lunch ever!

Awesome to see her catch the big fish. Trigger fish have to be skinned really good eating. On a trigger fish the two spines on the dorsal fin, the large one locks up so that to pin itself under rocks, it wont fold now the smaller spine right behind it, if you fold that one the larger spine gently folds behind it and thats why they call it trigger fish. They eat lobster crabs sea urchins and anything else that probably why they taste good.

You have to learn how to use squid jigs, needs patience is slow fishing!! Let it sit on the bottom and then 2-3 jerks with tip up,slow retrieve, let it sink to the bottom etc! Sometimes they hit in steady slow retrieve, sometimes in a bit faster but the common is the first retrieve!!On rock bottoms you let it sit on once after cast and then you count down the sinks trying to avoid snags!! Marry Christmas!!
Actually sounds exactly what I was doing hahaha. I think the squid jig was too bright and big . The water is so clear the squid can see everything even me standing there ... next time I’ll have darker coloured jig and smaller , water so clear you don’t even need to count , you can see it hit the bottom 👌🏽
@@CavyFishing back here in Greece, we use green for cuttlefish, orange & red for squid, I have cought also on minnows with fast retrieve!!Last ten years at the southern of my country, we have also longfins and most of them cought them in daylight on minnows, common squids after sunset till 10:00-10:30 on jigs!!! Edit-explanation. Roi in hawaii specifically have much higher ciguatera than most other places, I been hearing not to even use em as chum cuz u still end up eating some and it just puts the ciguatera right back on the reef
@@Carlos-ln1lx yeah I know about the roi lol... Giant hagi's we call um yellow lip Mahi Mahi lol. We fillet that buggah in the boat lol. When we go home we make sashimi and tell everyone it's Mahi Mahi lol. When bbqing the Hagi don't wash off the slime. When it's cooked with the slime on the meat is moist. When you wash the slime off and cook it, the meat come dry. Merry Christmas Braddah! Have a good one
