How did the non-standard folder be included in the path when not supposed to [creating error] and just the real folder and end up this mklink ready for cmd pasting? When does the cmd create the file before the real folder? Hope I make sense here, thanks.
You put the new linked folder name in the command because it has to be created during the process (at the end of the first part). If you already have the linked folder made on your computer, you will get an error. The second part of the command points to the folder that is already there that you want to have added to OneDrive.
Close - Unfortunately - this no longer works with the lastest oneDrive updates. It now reports Error: onedrive directory junction or symlink and cant be backed up. Instead reverse the direction of the symlink - first move your files to the onedrive, then create the link to your preferred location.
Jan 2025, works great, thank you!
Cheers, I have bookmarked this for when I need it.

Yeah, just tried this myself and I'm getting the same error message now.
