However having all the characters separated and doing essentially the same thing would be difficult to pull off without being hated. A lot of people dropped Higurashi because it kept repeating the same time period. Imagine this is done like 6-7, and even 8 times, with Ephnel all the way to the end of Dipluce Horizon where they all unite. I think it is possible to pull it off, but very difficult and easy to mess up and end up VERY boring. I doubt most studios will bother risk trying to do something like that.
