Just bought this for my 62 yo father who has a landscaping/tree business and also former paratrooper. He has had both is knees done and just got his hip replaced last week. We know he will be getting back to work asap but wanted him to take it easy on himself. He is not one to sit around at all. Lol. He is so incredibly happy with this and can't wait to test it out. We found an amazing website that we ordered from where it not only came with the brush guard but also had a deal that it came with a free $200 tree saddle. This was the absolute best gift we have ever gotten a man who has everything! Thank you, Ronin, for this amazing gear!!
This thing is amazing, I’ve been climbing cell towers for 10+ years now and this is the first thing I can actually call a game changer. It doesn’t tear your rope up if using the correct 10-13mm rope
When can we get an ascender for steel wire to use on things like tuff tugs/cables If these exist anywhere, I'd appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction
I don't think OSHA would allow it, can't use fall protection for hoisting/positioning and vice-versa. Same reason you're not supposed to tie off to the loadline, or use the same sling you use for hoisting as an anchor point for your fall protection. Dumb ass rules man, fuck OSHA.
@@scottishsuzuki8132 The company I work for bought one, so I’ve seen it tear up rope first hand. It is a terrible design. We use other gas powered rope ascenders, and don’t have any problems with them.
It definitely isn’t terrible I’ve got a rope we’ve had over a few hundred rides on now and it’s still in good condition. You have to know how to correctly terminate the ends of a rope and use the correct rope

This thing is terrible, and will destroy your ropes!
Rope Access industry has been using power ascenders for the last 15 years, what makes you think this will destroy your ropes ?

Another video by HowNOT2 says only to use approved ropes. Probably for this reason.
