- Bloodbending is a terrifying, powerful form of waterbending- but what if it was embraced by one of the most powerful waterbenders in all of Avatar, Katara? First used by Hama and later by villains like Amon, Tarrlok and Yakone, Katara declared bloodbending illegal in the main Avatar timeline… but find out what might have happened in Avatar: The Last Airbender if bloodbending was embraced!

Counter-divergent timeline: Katara embraces bloodbending, but for healing purposes.
Makes sense
Bloodbending is used in military / city police to subdue criminals without physical injury
Perhaps with bloodbending, Katara's healing abilities might progress. As opposed to requiring water to be drawn from a source, she could manipulate the water in one's veins to an injury site, and heal it that way.
@@annalisasauter7935 *accidentally kills the area with less blood*
She probably did that after but I agree
What if Katara was able to bloodbend without a full moon? And when she discovered it, it would be over for every foe lol
Yeah, that would make her even…uh, scarier.
Imagine if she could take away people’s bending away like Amon.
What if coherent magic system didn't exist in avatar? Then it'd be dc comic.
she could bloodbend without the moon
I think she did it, the way she told pema about her son being another airbender, she used bloodbending right?
Most of us were unable to accept the grown characters because we missed the middle age of these characters. We needed a series on the middle stage between ATLA and Legend of korra. Thatll make everyone happy. Idk whats your opinion but i truly supports this. We need to know more about their middle age activities, Adventures etc
I imagine that'd be pretty boring in the case of Korra. She had a very secluded childhood until she went for RC....
Kyoshi, i want kyoshi.
@@Donnerwamp the only excited thing i think will be the attempted kidnapping incident
@@Donnerwamp I wasnt talking about korra. Dont you need to know about aang, sokka, etc?
@@mtrix5530 Oh, yeah... I don't know why I thought about Korra... That actually makes way more sense...
If a water bender was a healer, they could use bloodbending to heal more deadly internal wounds
Exactly!
Could they also perform an immediate blood transfusion if it was needed?
@@pilotraptor64 maybe
@@pilotraptor64 Does the blood types still applies to their world? A lot of people would die from that and no one would understand why
@@sandro5535 if this world is complicated, then it would definitely have blood types
So basically this isn’t “What if Katara was a Bloodbending master” but “What if Zuko died in the final Agni Kai”
True
You mean Katara he would’ve redirected the lightning because he was level headed
Katara would’ve died because Azula aimed at her
Iroh would be Fire Lord
Wow lol that’s was only half of the vid
It’s not only about zuko it literally says what if katara….
I dont get the madness-aspect. Hama was in prison for like 30 years, so bloodbending has nothing to do with it. Yakone is a selfish criminal but not insane. Tarrlok was a smart councilman and an opportunist. His hunger for power cant be considered insane. And finally Noatak: A man that realises bending is evil and a bender-free world, would be better. Not insane
Hama was in the Fire Nation for decades, but not that long in prison. She still looked young when she escaped.
@@WhereisPerry "And during the next full moon, I walked free for the first time in decades." So either the mistake of the artist or the writers or she just aged really well for that time.
@@blazelightshine2311 I'm assuming she was captured around Katara's age. And stayed in prison for 20ish years. Making her mid 30s during her escape.
@@NightCM718 Hama was clearly in her late teens early 20's when she was captured. We know this because of both how she looked and the fact she was friends with Kanna who herself was a young woman when Hama was captured. She had been captured for decades and still looked decent, which would mean for around 20 to 30 years which means when she escaped she was around 40 to 50 years old and there are plenty of people who easily look younger than they actually are.
@@animeman8203 ok so you said basically what I said the only change is that you think she was captured longer.
The thumbnail makes Katara look like the Winter Soldier.
She's from the South Pole and she could kind of be considered a soldier when she attacked Azula but it's more like just a title than anything, the more accurate name would be Winter Assassin I think
@@ChrisVillagomez well winter soldier is an assassin
I thought the same thing😂😂😭
IT REALLY DOES
I actually first thought that it was a marvel video XDDD
The mere thought of Katara being a master Bloodbender scares me.
After watchin Marvel’s What If series I can’t be the only one who wants a avatar what if series! Imagine a timeline where Aang turns to the dark side! Or a timeline where katara was the avatar!
Or what if toph was the avatar
There was a live stream but it ended
Or what if Aang would not have fleed?
What if Aang would not have been discovered by Katara?
What if Zuko would not have been banished?
What if the Amber Island Plays where actually a perfect depiction of the show?
What if Iroh never lost his son?
So many "What if" potentials °J°
@@BestAnimeFreak What if Katara had offed Azula the first chance she got?!
Kinda annoying to see that only the evil characters (except Katara) are bloodbenders, man if they could somehow use bloodbending alongside with healing to perform surgeries
I know. Giving Katara a motive to practice her bloodbending is an interesting concept for a story, but I'm not a fan of this whole "bloodbending will always turn you evil because reasons". I find it lame and I prefer to ignore that.
Because its use for healing is null when one would need a full moon to use it. Yes, there is a way with no moon, but I suspect that is only an extreme rarity among water benders with a stronger connection to water bending than usual.
@@ConnorLonergan just because you need a full moon doesn't make it null
@@NightCM718 It does as a full moon is only around at ceritna times of the month at night.
@@ConnorLonergan right, so during that time you could heal people much better assuming bloodbending helps and so during that time a bloodbender could help a lot
If anything, Katara could start a "Defense Against the Dark Arts"-style class to help other benders better combat Bloodbending. But aside from that, there's no scenario where Bloodbending is acceptable.

@@tylermech66 yes, enlighten us.
Self defense, healing, enchacing your own physical abilities. Here are examples on where bloodbending is acceptable, if not necessary.
You mean bloodbending Suyin’s metalbenders after telling them to try sleight of hand to shoot a small shard of metal from their suits? Or be quick enough to slide their feet and force a bloodbender to trip, and therefore loosen the bloodbending grip?
Its kinda farfetch that Azula will still rule even if Zuko died. Iroh will reluctantly take over. Katara should bloodbend Azula after seeing Zuko died. She changed then and there.
It wasn't a full moon.
@@Murcielag0scuro What if it was a full moon?
Yeah I kinda agree, team avatar wouldn't let azula rule and she would probably have the same fate as Ozai or at least something similar to what happened in the original timeline
@@HectorT52

@@HectorT52 there is no way azula would just say and wait for the avatar she would run and hide controlling from the shadows. no matter who is the fire lord azula would still be in control
That would be awesome and terrifying, and it confirms my theory that waterbending are the most overpowered bending
But like with air bending u can pick up stuff and throw it at people. In theory u should be able to move water or earth with air bending and throw it at people
@@AbdullahMuslim1 same with water bending
You can literally suffocate people with airebending, of wait you could do that with any element- What’s my point here…
@@yappygames3447 would be kind of hard with earth and fire lol
@@AbdullahMuslim1 now, with earth bending, if you think about it, a metal bender could theoretically take all the iron and minerals in a person’s body and fill the lungs with it.
You’re telling me… that Aang didn’t bust katara out of prison!!??? That no one tried to bust katara out!!??
Yeah that would have been first thing on the list, find where she's held and bust her out.
*Some suggestions:*
What if Toph went with Zuko instead of Katara to fight Azula?
What if Sokka was a waterbender?
What if Katara was the avatar (Aang wasn’t the avatar so Katara becomes the water tribe avatar but he still gets frozen so she can learn air bending)?
What if Aang learned metal bending?
The only reason Aang survived being frozen was because of the avatar state. So if he wasn’t the Avatar, I doubt he would have survived
i think what if toph went with zuko instead of katara to fight azula already happened in the what if toph and zuko had a lifechanging field trip
If Katara was the Avatar she would've most likely been killed already. Not trying to be rude but some of these have minimal impact. "What if Aang learned metalbending?" Then he'd use it I guess?
Aang couldnt be frozen because it was the avatar state that saved him.

A full on "What If" Avatar TV series would be cool
“Write that down write that down!”
She would be OP. However she only could do it under full moon. However Yakone and his bloodline were the exception. They were the most feared benders.
I think she'd be able to eventually come up with that workaround
@@bissa6889 Well I do think its in your genes to be able to do that.
@@bissa6889 Amon mastered bloodbending at age 14 and he learnt it immediately, he trained for years to perfect it, the same way hama tried it with the rats for the first time and it worked, she only trained for years to master it....and there is no way Katara will be able to come up with psychic bloodbending, it is not by skill it is hereditary
It is the same thing as saying zuko would learn combustion bending if he wants to
@@bissa6889 No one is underestimating her, it is just facts... Ming hua was originally supposed to be a bloodbender (Normal full moon bloodbender) if psychic bloodbending was based on skill, it would have been stated that Ming hua is originally supposed to be a psychic bloodbender, this clearly shows that Amon and his family are the only ones capable as it was stated that they come from a family line of powerful waterbenders.... You thinking that Katara learning bloodbending in an instant makes her stronger if she practiced more... you completely forgot that Amon’s first attempt in bloodbending was shown, Katara bloodbended Hama on her first try, Amon literally raised a whole bull and it seemed soo painful compared to Katara’s own.... he only practiced to be perfect in it, that was when he started bloodbending multiple animals as he was becoming more better in the art... if Katara practiced more, the highest she could do is to bloodbend multiple people or animals not bloodbend during the day....

What if Katara had accepted Hama teaching her to fully dominate bloodbending on the condition she stopped the kidnappings and helped her to return to the Southern Water Tribe?
Honestly, at that point Hama could have returned on her own if she wanted to. But after what happened to her, how it changed her, and her attitude toward the fire nation ( not just fire benders, she stayed to get revenge.

I really wish there were dedicated Avatar "What If" channels. Untapped market, I tell ya.
so the main avatar universe is very lucky that katara didn't go full Amon before Amon.
Katara could help the gang battle even more if she was a full bloodbending master. I think it’s cool that Katara knows bloodbending
I hope one of the creator can answer this question one day: what if Aang never had children and the airbenders didn't return, what would happen?
- Would there be another airbending avatar
- would the cycle end after the firebending avatar or
- Would they skip an airbending avatar and go straight from a firebending avatar to a waterbending avatar?
This is a decent question.
Harmonic convergence will bring back the airbenders?
@@sonofsueraf I'm assuming the question is in the case that there's no harmonic convergence.
@@NightCM718 I was answering the question what if Aang never had children since he's the last known airbender.
@@sonofsueraf Right. My point is that we know that harmonic convergence brings airbenders back, I'm assuming they're asking these questions in the absence of harmonic convergence.
There's another offshoot if bloodbending became used more among waterbenders and it's that a group of them gang up on the Avatar and while most keep the Aang under control, one of them uses their bloodbending to block his bending.
Well why just block bending why not just cute him thousand of thousand pieces

Bloodbending could be usefull. Especially in the medical world it'd see some possibilities. It also might be helpfull to be able to take peoples bending for a certain amount of time. Like some sort of jailtime. Bloodbending could work, if there is regulation.
Katara’s influence was hopeful, inspiring, and embracing but seeing it ever happen will be very dark but cool🌊❄️🩸
This is why an AU Avatar anthology series would be great
Katara may felt regret for what she done using bloodbending, so it will be likely that she stopped to use bloodbending at some time.
It would’ve been great if Azula have been bloodbended.
ATLA needs a sequel on it's own storyline. Change my mind
I think it would be very interesting to speculate about what if Aang went FULL Bloodbender
It's just so wonderful that after all these years there's still great content being made.
A crazy what if scenario: what if the Dao li brainwashed Aang under Azula orders to join Ozai? 🤔
That's a very amazing idea. I hope they make a vid about that.
I believe Katara could've broken him out of it.
Yah I always wondered that
Bloodbending might have been handy during surgery so maybe making it legal but only during certain circumstances.
Yeah, there are many applications, especially in medicine, that wouldn't have adverse effects and would work synergistically with regular waterbending healing.
what if Katara could also Chi block by taking peoples bending away from them
If the avatar could time travel they could bring to the future a MULTIVERSE time lines of multiple avatar s from different times and different universe. Just the way Disney did with marvel s avengers end game did with bringing the Infinity stones into the future.

I am so happy people still talk about I personally think avatar the last air bender is better if it had more episodes
katara could never because she is not inherently evil. just as the ember island theater performers described her, she is just a "preachy baby who can't resist giving overemotional speeches about hope all the time." lol
The southern raider's, puppet master and painted lady episodes say Hi💀
There another part of bloodbending many didn’t notice. When you use bloodbending too much it will turn the be bender insane and souless. Just look at Hama and Amon when they were young, sweet and kind but when they use bloodbending, they become empty version of themselves.
You could also argue that their experiences is what hollowed them out.
Hama experienced and witnessed grave injustices done onto her people and herself. She was held in a fire nation prison, which I imagine wouldn't exactly be the best for someone's mental health. Her developing Bloodbending then and there was probably due to her mental state having deteroriated to that point.
Amon was raised by a ruthless thug that forced his sons to bloodbend eachother. Amon, witnessing the harm that hoarding one's power over another, developed the ideology that all bending was inherently bad, as any bender can throw their weight around nonbenders. Bloodbending played a part in his development, sure, but his father's actions were what drove him to become who he became.
You guys should do a what if involving a possibility of Azula not knowing about the Day of the Black Sun
Okay if Azula ended Zuko, this would definitely go one of two ways, either Katara gains the ability to bloodbend without a full moon from being overwhelmed by the shock and anger of losing Zuko and turns Azula into a human licorice or Azula electrocutes Katara then and there.
I'm pretty sure Zuko failed to redirect the lightning in the first place. That is why he was clutching at his heart.
1:37 I wasn't entirely aware of that part.
I think there is another way like what if katara was put in a situation where to save anng (or anyone she loves) she had to bloodbend she will practice t=it in extreme condition only and will use it only if she needs it which makes katara stay like she is but still practice booldbending
The one thing I would have wanted from this is Katara training to the point we’re she didn’t need the moon to perform Bloodbending.
Azula would've been no match. My biggest hope after the puppetmaster episode would've been to see Katara use bloodbending against her but that would've made things too easy.
I have one more timeline. I already thought about this years ago when I was a teenager and watched the first show, but it looked a bit silly that time, so I forgot about it. But now, after Korra's stories it kinda makes sense.
If we think deeply about it, bending is the form of technology in Avatar's world, and technology is always advancing/evolving. When a nation or company had discovered ways to rise and grow its power through technology, it's rivals will try to discover some new technologies to compete.
In Avatar world, if the water tribe, or water benders standardize bloodbending into its culture, other nations and other bender types would try to develop new advanced forms to bend, trying to rivalize with the bloodbending. Think about it, if there's lightning bending, what prevents some master firebender(especially during the passage of comet Suzin) to develop a method to bend the body electromagnetic radiation through lightning bend, or even just the bend of the body heat? The same logic aplies to the earth benders, what if an earth bender develop a method to bend the body metals, or even the organic material similar to the one that lives in the soil?
We already saw people all over the world adjusting bending forms to create "new" ones, like Plantbenders of Foggy Swamp, of Sandbenders of Si Wong tribes. In other words, create new bending styles is quite possible or even likely.
And that's why I think, in a distant future, Avatar world could have another great world threat. Something like a world war, because of what I call, bodybenders or body controlers, being mainstream and dominating goverment all over the world, looking to increase their power/influence and make war over it.
It seems kinda apocaliptic and disruptive, but definitely not impossible plot.
Oh! i remember people voting for it.
i LOVE these what if videos ! KEEP THEM UP !!!!!!!
PLEASE DO MORE WHAT IFS!!!
The first one has a problem why isn't aang worried about katara about where is she
Wooow. today one is awesome. thank you
I understand that the creators wanted to give a darker side to waterbending, but bloodbending would be phenomenal in medical applications, and it always annoyed me a little bit that katara couldn't see its usefulness. I will say that the way she learned the technique was pretty traumatic, and I can understand wanting nothing to do with it because of how she learned it, but if she had learned it in a more peaceful demonstration, I feel like it could have been totally different. And as far as it becoming widespread, it's simple. Just make bloodbending illegal to use on the street or against another person without their consent. Will you still have a few that try? Sure, but I would think most won't
It feels so weird for the Kitara VA to be speaking during this. wow haha
Sorry but I don't see team avatar letting katara rot in prison in the first place..... Chances are, they would break her out before too long...

I always thought why didn't Katara use the bloodbending against Azula during her and Zuko's battle
she couldnt, if katara can break out of hama's bloodbending during a full moon, then why cant azula break out of katara's bloodbending during sozin's comet

Controll the flow.
You thought the Zuko/Azula Agni Kai was heart-breaking to watch, an Aang vs. Katara fight in this scenario would leave the entire fanbase a crying, inconsolable mess.
That be op
Pretty neat fanfic ideas! Maybe they'll explore bloodbending in the future Avatar Studios shows? Maybe there's a spirit associate with the particular bending style? How could they repurpose and reflavor the abilities?
Let's rethink it again, with the widespread of new and deadly diseases on the horizon, and a thirst for new and advanced medical technology, bloodbending would likely play a vital role in it. Like imagine having a cure for cancer by simply bending the cells.
What if tarlok left with noatok when they were kids
It would be a much bleaker and more mature time line but I would love it if this was actually turned into a minie series as an alternative ending of atla.
1:37 what if the people that lost the bending became air benders?...
If Katara could waterbend without a full moon
War over, fight no more
Katara should have passed on Bloodbending to Aang and the next Avatar. This prevents bad things from happening to the Avatar, because relying too much on the Avatar State is risky. For example, in the Korra era, she lost connection with the previous Avatar because of Unalaq. Not to mention his bending ability was taken away because of Amon. Not to mention Zaheer wants to destroy the Avatar cycle. I think an Avatar in the future not only has to control 4 elements, but must master many sub-elements, even forbidden sub-elements such as Bloodbending.
She sounds like katara 🌊
