A short film of the CIE inspection car trip between Claremorris and Kiltimagh in 1981 as part of a WDC trip over the entire Claremorris - Collooney line.
Very interesting indeed! Many thanks. Last time I was in Kiltimagh the local people had completely renovated the station area and tracks. It only needed a train to bring it to life. What a grand group they are...it was hard work. Around 10 to 12 years ago CIE cleared all the undergrowth on the route except where the tracks passed by occupied level crossing cottages, etc. It looked quite funny to see the cleared track disappearing under a lawn/garden...only to re-appear the other side. Sadly, I've not been back to check the route for about 10 years (I live in Dorset, England but I have a relative living in Tuam) but I was able to see the renovations at Tuam station much more recently and hopefully the line to Tuam and Claremorris from Athenry might survive. Yes it went to Collooney and back to Claremorris as the junction to the Sligo line was severed after closure.
Excellent footage. There's a 2/3 chance that the inspection car in this video is preserved at the Downpatrick & Co. Down Railway.

35 years ago..... few briars grown over the track since then I'm afraid. That yolk reminds me of Marty McFly's De Lorean. Time to let go.
