Monkeys/primates are typically very social individuals like us, I don’t doubt for a second this was genuine sadness in their group.
Interestingly, it seems that as technology continues to progress, the more we see how human-like animals are and how animal-like humans are.

That's ridiculous. Monkeys are extremely violent and abusive towards each other. They do temporarily "grieve" some deaths but mostly they go unnoticed. There's no compassion or empathy towards living troop members, you should see how they actually treat each other. If people treated each other like that this would be hell.

Psisis I can see that the sentience of the monkeys is being used to invoke a negative reaction from them. Not sure if you see it.
@@sarshwath The monkey was not supposed to fall, that was incidental, probably accidental. That does not discredit the whole experiment. Not sure if you see it, but this is very good research on how humans evolved. Primates seem to have many emotions and types of behavior that exclusively began with their species/genus.
Don't forget, grief is not physical pain. These monkeys only knew the puppet for some minutes before grieving him. They'll probably forget it as fast. Just because they're reacting emphatically, doesn't make them protected somehow. Emotion is like any other behavior.
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed. I needed this with all the violence I scroll past eveyday
