I fell asleep watching a fight scene near begining. The lighting was too dark, in fact I dont think there was any lighting.. And in imax the sound was too loud. Didnt enjoy. Ive read the comic books and hellboy is usually funny, This hellboy was boring just like the film. He doesnt even have the other hellboy characters. Im familiar with the comic books and this film was rubbish.
Oh wow, didnt realise this had been released already! Didn’t think much about the trailers, but ill still show some support with it being a smaller film. Hopefully my cinema is playing it. Not a Hellboy comic reader, just a big fan of them Del Toro movies, especially Golden Army.
Only opened In some territories at present - hope you enjoy. But is far different than Del Toros ( which are better ) but this is more akin to the comics. It’s actually based on one of the comic series.
I just finished Hellboy. I was disappointed. I wanted to like it, but i couldn't. I was bored and it felt longer than it was. It had potential, but it fell short.
I will say hellboy's look is kind of generic but at the same time the movie does look really good it looks like Evil Dead versus Hellboy definitely going to check it out hoping it comes to the states soon
Wrong, Ron portrayed him as a moody teenager who is love struck for Liz Sherman. Comic Hellboy is a tired veteran blue collar worker, and Liz is more like a sibling to him. Comic Hellboy would probably be annoyed by how much Ron Hellboy talks.
Not as action oriented but it is good I think Hellboys character is very tame in this film he seems very weak. He is basically following this other lady who wasn’t really interesting if it was hellboy on his own going full throttle it would have been better. Appalachia isn’t just the woods it’s an awesome setpeice for witches and demons. This story wise and look does not look cheap at all. CGI does not make a movie look good good old movie making makes it more realistic not cheap cgi garbage. Honestly solid 8 probably the second best hellboy movie
You are right - at the end of the day it comes down to story. But I fear most people will dismiss this as to them Hellboy should be a big bombastic FX laden action blockbuster. That’s what Hellboy is to them. As the comics marketplace is not so niche. And Hellboy himself very Niche within that
I don't need to watch this I'm that confident because Hellboy 1 and 2 the original with Ron Perlman is the best and any knock offs or redones are just ruining it for me. For example its like if star wars brought another film out which they will probably do, and a character come back was Darth Vader you wouldn't have robert pattison playing it because he is too lanky and is voice would remind you of twilight.
BAD BAD BAD...AND EVEN WORSE!!! 0 OUT OF 10! This was THE WORST Hellboy in the entire series!!! Worst writing, worst plot and the original actor who played the first Hellboy was missing. When you cannot get the original cast, DO NOT MAKE SEQUALS! I was confused the whole time, had no clue what was happening or why. It was an absolute mess and I was so bored I just said no more, shut it off. Thank god I was watching it for free. And that was even too much!

This movie was literally the comics in movie form. Not a Hollywood adaptation. Love it for that.

I agree with you. It sucks and bored me to sleep. I walked out before finish watching it.
