Saw this amazing singer in Leeds Town Hall around 20 yrs ago when I was going through a very painful divorce. I was staggered at his absolutely amazing 🎤 singing abilities. I met him backstage as well. (I don’t EVER go backstage to meet anyone normally and was used to others frequently coming to see me after the show was over where I was a decent singer in our family band or if I sang solo in Leicester with standing ovations singing Rafi songs). Abijit bhiya was very professional and humble. We conversed about his singing and also of my ability singing. That was very kind of him I felt. He was down to earth and had time for not just me but everyone else too. We are from a multi generational singing family and he was very understanding. I can’t understand why he has stopped appearing in Bollywood as a top playback singer like Kishore Kumar dada. His Ability is very versatile and miles above those singing in Indian movies right now and he can sing any renowned Asian singer’s song with amazing skill and dexterity or his own songs prepared especially for him. I have witnessed this myself in live singing. I was also not aware at that time and was therefore ignoring the fact that a great many world 🌍 acclaimed singers have originated from Bangladesh. So I have been educated because of this amazingly talented singer. I may be wrong but Abijit bhai is indeed 🇧🇩 Bangladeshi. I was told Kishore Kumar was also from said country. Apologies if I am wrong.
This recording here on UTube is good but if you hear him singing live it’s simply outstanding. I am not over praising but am saying factuallywhat I know. You probably don’t know me personally but I have been blessed musically by the Almighty in discerning quality in singing of another artist and also in singing myself. ( not boasting but just bringing the facts to the fore, I say this humbly and being god fearing simultaneously).

Bhupinder ji, I see that your comments emerged directly from your soul. Just one minor correction. Abhijit himself, Kumar Sanu, Arijit of the modern times and Hemant Kumar, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Salil Choudhury, S D Barman, R D Barman and hordes of other greats were all Bengalis, none from Bangladesh though (from West Bengal and Tripura).
