  • Hi everyone,
    We are still very much in lockdown here in Australia, so here's another Yann Tiersen tutorial that was requested by tennisfreestylenet. I hope everyone is coping alright. Check in with your friends, family and neighbours!
    This is a piece I learned by ear from a video by Dave Thomas so I do not have the sheet music.

    This lady is clearly a genius.
    There are many instructional videos on how to play accordion on YT, but the pedagogical method this lady has chosen is superior to all. Just unbelievable how efficient teaching can be if done in an intelligent and clever way. I am taking my hat off!

    This is an extremely helpful tutorial. Thank you for paying so much attention to small details like the camera angle and listing what notes you are playing. As a beginner player, watching how you play is a great way for me to avoid unknowingly building bad habits. Your crisp articulation also makes it easier to practice my listening. Everything about this was helpful. Thank you very much for putting so much work into this 👍

    Lucy, I've been wanting to play this song for a long time..... But the syncopated bass rhythm -- I was not even sure how to approach it. You make it so simple!

      Yes, I think they are, and good ones like yours are much needed..May I suggest that since you also include the treble notes in your great video, you also include your fingering next to those notes. Sometimes the fingering isn't visible and I think this would be a great help to some. Thank you for all of your efforts.

    I was actually hoping there was a tutorial of this song played by you! I finally got my first accordion and musette tuning as well! Which do you find easier to play, the bass or the piano keys? So many tiny little buttons... Then again some articulate tickling of the ivories as well!
    And also what was the ticking for or that machine you said to set at such and such in the beginning? Do people really need that?

    • @accordionlucy
      @accordionlucy  9 місяців тому

      The piano keys are easier for me because it's what I'm most familiar with.
      I set up a metronome to help myself stay in time. This makes it easier for people to play along with me.

    Thank you so much for this!! I am trying to learn how to play it but I have found I cannot practice for more than 20 min straight, because my shoulder muscles (mostly the left) get tired, is there anything you recommend doing to either work that particular set of muscles or to improve technique? Thanks again! I love your channel!

    • @accordionlucy
      @accordionlucy  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Tomas! Thanks for being here :) Any time you start using a new muscle in a different way you need to build strength and you can achieve that by doing what you're already doing; playing as long as you can and then rest and recover. I'm not an expert on strength training but if you search "how to strengthen trapezius" you'll find some non-accordion exercises to strengthen the muscle!

    Great Video! You would´nt by any chance know how to play b major chord on a 48 piece accordion?

    • @accordionlucy
      @accordionlucy  4 роки тому

      Hello, no I don't think it's possible if you don't have the B row. I've played around with my accordion to find an alternative but I don't see a simple solution. I would suggest you transpose the tune. You could play it in A minor which would require you to shift the bass pattern down one row. You will be playing E major at the end of the chord progression rather than B major.

  • @tilasole3252
    @tilasole3252 2 роки тому

    I am not sure I know what syncopated is. I've watched a few videos and read the definition, but not sure how that adds up to what you are doing. It looks like you take the e minor for instance and press that and then press an adjacent key or keys and then switch to the g major and then press those adjacent keys and so on. But it is hard to tell which keys exactly are being pressed. =\
