Perfect timing on this video, as I was thinking of trying one of the YKYs on my bike. Do you by chance have the exact width of the YKY when it's mounted on your bike? I'm curious if it's truly 4.3. PS. The cat is in!😆
Thinking of trying one as a rear tire for my borealis. If you think what you were riding in the video was loose, you should have seen what I was trying to pedal through today haha
Have you tried running the rear YPK in the front orientation? I just did my first ride on these yesterday with the rear in the rear orientation and the traction is immense, but I found the rolling resistance to be a lot more than my old Dillinger (which I guess is unsurprising). I'm wondering if flipping it to the forward orientation would be a good middle ground.
I haven't but I can imagine it would help a lot on the rolling resistance side of things. I feel like the front still has loads of traction so I say go for it!
That’d be a pretty good set up. I think it’d help with braking traction with the Cake Eater oriented for the rear, that’s probably one of my biggest complaints with them.
I was thinking the same thing. I bought a set of 27x4 Cake Eaters last spring as a summer trail tire and I really struggled to like the Cake Eater on the front. Really lacked conering traction and a lot of self steer. The spacing of the secondary knobs and lack of more knobs on the secondary row make it a poor front tire in my experience. The Cake Eater is an excellent rear tire year round, I have no compliants. I am now thinking of going to a YKY on the front and running these as a year-round set up. Thanks for the the review.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Same to you!
That looks like one sweet ride, Cool video. Just subbed. Love the Minions.
Why did you cut out the cat 😂 The best reviews have a cat lurking like this one was. Good review!
Haha I’ll be sure to leave it in next time…even if they are wreaking havoc by knocking everything over.

haha, yeah it was more due to the temperature so I guess "soft" would be a better word.
Coming up Graham canyon would test your traction for sure.
hey interesting video can you tell me what tubeless tape you use ? seems pretty easy setting up the tires and only with a floor pump :-) happy trails
Hey, love the video! Do you have an experience utilizing those tires on the dirt , forest trail etc?
Yes I do, I'll be pushing a review video out very soon on how they do in dirt and my long term impression in snow.
Try the Wazia in the back. Great paddle action
Hey that trail looks familiar, thinking about riding it this weekend as the temps will be 40ish instead of -30..crazy weather
Yeah talk about a crazy swing in temps. It’ll almost be too warm in the afternoons, so I’m thinking a late morning ride might be in store.
Is the yippee Kai yay on a 65mm wheel too? Can you tell me the actual width on the narrower wheel?

Like! The great chanel. What size is your frame?
Wonder if you'd enjoy 4.3 YKY front w. 4.0 cakeeater rear on the mukluk while helping out the more conservative geo a tad.

Great review ! How would you compare them versus the Bontrager Gnarwhal 4.5 inch ?
I’ve only ridden the Gnarwhal a few times, but I’d say these are in a similar category…just a tad more aggressive.
@@RideYearRound Thank's so much ! Appreciate that
Extra big thumbs up for cat appearance 🙂.
I’ll make sure the cats make more appearances from now on haha.
Are you running 26” or 27.5” on your Mukluk? Thanks
27.5”, but I have run 26” before.
@@RideYearRound Thanks. I’m running 26x4.8 but thinking of 27.5 or 29+ for my summer tires.
