Why does Carrie love Brody - the only person she really loved in her life?
Because a part of her feels bad about the pain and torture he was subjected to. She acknowledges the fact that he served his country obediently until his capture, and that he was actually subjected to inhuman treatment. He was subjected to this for years on end. This will certainly leave even the strongest of men psychologically scarred for life.
In Brody's case, he was broken and Abu Nazir took advantage of his psychological state and turned him into a brainwashed traitor. Fortunately, Brody did not blow up his suicide vest, and listened to his daughter, which highlights the fact that there is still humanity in it. This shows the audience that he is not a cold-blooded terrorist, but a misguided and emotionally damaged man who just needs to be brought back on track. Carrie sees this and, as a result, feels sympathy for him.
Carrie had other involvement yes, it turns out that none managed to awaken the true love she felt for Brody and vice versa.
The character loves her daughter Franny even though in a crooked way ...

Did she forget that he punched her like that in season 7? He holds her prisoner, drives her insane, and has a weird major personality change in season 8 which i know im sure is just so she’ll trust him but really she falls for it? or she pretends to and he falls for her? How does any of it work i still dont understand their relationship

Certainly after Carrie playing Yevgeny’s pawn and going after Saul’s longtime Russian asset and then the man himself, seeing Carrie in Moscow at Yevgeny’s side living a life of luxury only to be sending info to Saul, that was a very long-game reveal right at the end … Let’s start right at the end. There’s a time jump of a couple of years in the final minutes and Carrie is in Moscow. She seems to be playing the role, now, of double-double agent. This is quite the twist, and in fact, in many ways, you have kind of book-ended Homeland where it all began.
That was the strategy, for sure, and almost more importantly than that, sort of nice, poetic closure, was the idea of slowly trying to repair her relationship with Saul. In other words, she completely burned Saul’s asset, Anna Pomerantseva (Tatyana Mukha). The asset winded up killing herself. Saul was devastated by that. The effect of that all happening was, Carrie was able to avert a war from happening, but the relationship with Saul was severed.
In other words, let me be clear, Carrie really did betray Saul, really did betray her country, really did affect the death of a very important American asset in Moscow. And here is Carrie, at the very end, replacing that asset, becoming that asset, herself, and the glimmer of a repaired relationship with Saul is possible, at the very end. So, that was what we were going for, in that last 15 minutes.
So, is this truly the end of Homeland? Honestly, Carrie and Saul are both alive. They’re both doing their jobs still. It feels like this could come back in form of another, anytime.

@@KRAKOA889 That's unserious, like everything showed in Russia. In real life Carry will be under strict supervision of Russian counterintelligence, and all things she sends to Saul is pure disinformation. But at least she is happy, like a woman .

Strangely many western girls cry about equality, but when their get equality they start yelling. Both of them play in dangerous games and understand about possible finale . She’s looked for men, who really take care about her. She finally got him.

      @@zmhomes3995 Putin's Russia's counterintelligence is really paranoid.
I love this series too! Although the actress who plays Carreie gives a show, and I am impressed by the actor who plays Saul's character. To think that a person can remain calm, phlegmatic, wise, in all those scenarios ... The interpretation is very good, solid, constant!
There was something rebellious for us to watch the show end with Carrie smiling ... an apparently dubious Carrie now installed in Moscow with Yevgeny Gromov, when in fact he is a double agent for Saul-USA.
The fact that she respects and is attracted to the agent does not prevent her from seeing the 'relationship' as a great chance to benefit her nation - even if it is at the expense of his country, or rather, Putin's Russia.
We know that Carrie is the type of undercover lover who can use Yevgeny and, at the same time, have an '' intimate relationship '' with him - It is not a real connection as it was with Brody; and later with Quinn.
Carrie Mathison is a patriotic person (like Saul, Brody, Quinn and Max), a principled woman and a spy. There is something deep within her that brings these aspects of her identity to the fore, and they are not characteristics that can be ignored. Offering her a purely happy ending would sound false. To give her a tragic outcome would have been too easy. "Homeland" wants to challenge its audience to consider impossible choices, just as their characters do, and the series has found a final test to do just that. There may not be a right answer, now it was very close to the worthy ending or to some extent correct.
Carrie's saga is not over. She is not out of espionage. She switched places with Saul's Russian mole, sacrificing her life in America to be a double agent in Russia and paying her debt to Anna in the process. And that is how she will live the rest of her days: handing over state secrets (used Yevgeny Gromov) to Saul, hoping to avoid further international incidents.
And she is happy because she is helping Saul, Franny and the USA.

The Russian had Stockholm syndrome with Carrie. And it made her kill Anna. Due to the pain of breaking up with Saul and Franny it did break the control. She finally got it to use for the benefit of the USA.
