I would like to see a clean race from Dornoch. Luis Saez owes this horse a better ride than he gave him in the Bluegrass and the Kentucky Derby. Break well, settle early, come with his run on the turn and change leads into the stretch and he will win.
He'll be gunning for the early lead. All his best races have been on the lead. Tried to rate him in the Bluegrass and he hated it. Then got messed up at the beginning of the Derby and lost all chance when shuffled. Now Saez puts him on the lead. 🙂

@mitchellbaker. Could very well turn out to be true. I definitely think he will influence the early pace and may last a good deal longer than people expect. To me the big X factors in the race are the track condition at post time and can Mindframe get 1 1/4 effectively off only 2 lifetime races.
I agree with you. The first time I ever saw Mage's brother run was in 2023, and Seize the Grey beat him then. STG was just a scrawny two year old then.

The outside posts will be coming in this race with the 3-4-5. This is a deep race, tougher to find a winner. Like the better rested.

Yeah. Gate to wire: STG ON THE RAIL. Like Eddie Arcaro. Like Mystic Dan, but faster. Wayne Lucas is way older than me. I bet he remembers when drawing the gate on the rail was an advantage, not a curse.
Yeah again. You know where Lucas got the white hat? Ben Jones! I just read an article about Jones telling Arcaro to keep the rail in sight. Jones cut Whirlaway's left blinker off and made the horse practice running the rail inside Jones' pony, because the horse ran wide and lugged like SIerra. STG doesnt have Sierra's problem, he has the advantage: He can see the rail just fine and Lucas\Jones will use that rail to beat SL?!!

Seize the Grey. Very nice investment on your part. Sid Fernando estimated his value at 10 million for stud duty and put the 127.50/share price worth somewhere between 4 to 5 thousand.

@@chocolatetownforever7537 Typically, you don't make hardly any money with MRH. But STG has already returned more than his share price and MRH owns 100 percent of the horse. Usually MRH doesn't own 100%, like with Authentic. They owned a tiny percentage of Authentic.

Gotta give STG the credit he deserves. He fooled me in the Preakness. I was sure he'd be on the lead entering the first turn, but I also did not see him lasting and he certainly did. He also seems to be getting disrespected coming into this race with an 8-1 morning line. That last 6 furlong breeze seems to indicate he may be sitting on another big race and can maybe even set another new top, though not totally convinced of that. I do think he will once again flash speed out of the 1 post (not a whole lot of other choices from there) and they certainly are not likely to change his tactics after the Preakness win. Dangerous horse this Saturday.
I also like Mindframe's post draw a lot, in fact it is a perfect draw for him. People think he needs the lead and that is simply not true. He can sit off horses and pounce just as he did in his 13 length maiden win at Gulfstream. Questions for him are how much does the lack of foundation hurt and can he set a new top in this one. If he returns to his 1st race Thorograph fig in this one (a very distinct possibility) he's a major threat. His post position permits his jock to view all the contending speed inside of him and sit right off that speed before pouncing. Best of all, I don't see him going off at 7-2 given his lack of experience and Pletcher's slump over the past month. I think he goes off closer to 5-1 where he will be tempting IMO. Good luck all!
STG has put together two very impressive races. Fast figure for the Preakness. I disagree with the speed fig he got in the Pat Day Mile, I think he ran faster than his figs show.
Mindframe is the horse to watch. First two races he looks like a superstar.

The rail has been fast at Saratoga the past 2 days. If Sieze The Grey gets out at a comfortable pace, I think he good wire this, but my gut tells me there is going to be a lot of pace and pressure on him today with the weather being nice, and I am going with the 9, Sierra, to place for 500. Already got my bets in with FanDuel.
#9 is the horse to beat. STG might not get the lead today, may have to sit back a couple lengths off, like the Pat Day Mile.
@@mysteryhandicapper The 9 got bumped around too much. Was probably the best horse in Derby and Belmont, but got a tough ride. Nevertheless, I think that horse going forward will be a force to reckon with. Thanks for the previews. Keep em coming.

I like Sierra Leone in a long race. Especially with the late speed. I will play for first and second all 9 9all w 10,134,w 10,1,3,4 in the superfecta

they should just make it a mile n a half, it's not a real belmont if it ain't a mile n a half.
I think at least 3 or 4 of these horses wouldn't be in this race if it was 1.5 miles. This is a great field considering no Triple Crown at stake. Maybe what they should do is keep it at this distance in the future. Either way, the track at Saratoga isn't configured in a way you can run a race at 1.5 miles. There's no good place to put the starting gate.
As mitchell baker stated, Saratoga isn't configured for the distance, but I understand where you're coming from.
You can’t safety start a race on a turn.

I am not yet off the Honor Marie bandwagon. Found himself dead last at I think the 1/2 mile mark, improved to 8th at the finish. Was right there with CF at the LA Derby. At 21-1 ML and possibly higher at post time, yea, I can see it.
I don't blame you. I didn't pick him because I didn't want to go 5 deep in a 10 horse field, but he had a legit excuse in the Kentucky derby. Awful start. Looking for a nice bounce back in the Belmont. Good luck!

I think Serria Leone felt he could of beat Mystic Dan in the Derby, well now here's his shot.

You might be right, the Wood figs came back fast, too fast. Other races on Wood Memorial day came back fast too. The Gazelle had unusually high speed figs.
9H most likely winner but no value as the race chalk the two horses that have a shot to upset are the 10H and the 2H

STG has been jumping out of the gate "like a quarter horse," according to one railbird. He must be practising to jump out of the first gate and run down the rail, leading gate to wire! He may get the jump on everybody. I picture Mystik Dan and Resilience to his right, trying to catch him. But maybe Mindframe in the #10 gate will draw Sierra Leone in #9 gate down the outside to catch STG. We could see another duel then, Sierra vs. STG!!!! I'm hoping it's Mystik Dan in #3 gate who fights STG to the end. But STG is looking better and better. Another Arrogate son! Nevertheless, Sierra is the best horse, if he can run straight, so I am sticking with: Sierra, STG, Mystik Dan, Resilience, then Mindframe and Antiquarian in mid pack.

Everybody inckuding me is reluctant to see that STG is in position to do exactly what Mystic Dan did in the Derby. STG may CLAIM THE RAIL, like jockeys used to do. If the jockey can get possession of the rail, he is not not afraid of getting boxed in.

9-3-1 for me......Obviously Mindframe is the wild card in here, I say, PROVE IT ! This is a BIG jump up in class, plus a stretch out in distance. Sure is talented though.

@@mysteryhandicapper It seems that STG will shoot to the lead, but if Dornoch or Mindframe really want to be in front, then maybe he will sit 2nd or 3rd. In this case, it seems like a great post for him. While I dont like Sierra Leone post, he was the best in the Derby if he didnt start lugging in. Seems Dan will get a great trip again, sitting about 4th on the inside. Gonna be fun to watch. GL
The 3YO division is slow and ready for a shake up. Antiquarian's Peter Pan figure was weak. Puts me on second-choice Mindframe. Seize the Grey, Mystik Dan are his biggest threats.

@frank78855. SAR favors speed, more so when wet and SL is a classic deep closer. Also, while visually impressive, his times are slow. He's been fine against the junk he's run against, but better 3YOs are emerging. Finally, the scapegoating of T Gaff is a big red flag.
Antiquarian needs to step up his figs to be competitive. In two races I can't find any faults with Mindframe. Good luck!
