What a treat to see "Mom". So sweet you got to visit her. I have been gardening for at least 45 years. I have so many volunteers I can't even count. As a fruit lover I throw all my seeds out the door into a flower garden. I have at leat 3 peach trees and 2 cherry trees growing that I did not plant. God is such a great gardener!

I agree, when I have a bad day and I am wondering how God can put up with the human race, I search for a Roots and Refuge video. It restores my faith. I know that I am not the only one who turns to this family for inspiration and restoration of our souls. Jess and her whole family have a calling on their lives to sow hope and life back into wounded people. They are such a blessing and I can literally see how God has placed an aspect of this calling on each person in the family.
They each are such a blessing to everyone that they touch.
      Thank you God!!!

I LOVE this video!!! I am from Hawaii and my Mom has always grown in containers. I used to joke she is Te Fiti, making everything grow, and I was more like Te Ka, causing things to die 😂. She works in a bakery, and always bought home the 5 gallon containers and would plant in them. She is my inspiration🙌🏾. She came to visit us in Texas and a piece of a plant broke off at my neighbors while we were visiting. She put it in a bottle of water and I just potted it up today, 2 years later. It was sitting on my windowsill and I would top the water off as I watched the roots grow. This year, I moved from the classroom to the garden. I've shown her pictures of my raised beds, and she is so proud of me. Your video bought back so many memories of my Mama working in her garden, no matter where we lived on the island. Thank you for sharing your Mama's garden with us.
    Blessings!

I am very much like your mom when it comes to plants and seeds. I have taped and splinted several over the years. The day my husband proposed to me we went out to eat supper. Outside the restaurant they had beautiful Crepe Myrtle trees in a few colors. As we were leaving I collected some seed pods from the ones that had mature dry seeds. I planted them and grew several trees that I eventually planted in the yard and gave away. We have had two hurricanes that have flattened and killed nearly every tree and bush in the neighborhood, but I was able to bring back two of my Crepe Myrtles and in just 2 years have grown to 15 feet tall. They had strong healthy roots that wanted to grow regardless of having only 1 inch of trunk left above the soil.I also have house plants that are over 30 years old. Some were cuttings from Great Grandfather's who started his from his grandmother's plants! Some came in a terrarium I received as a baby shower gift for my first child. When walking through the isles of garden centers I will look at the floor for pieces that have been knocked off the plants on display. I'll bring them home wrapped in a tissue in my purse and root them out. I've been able to grow so many for just a little effort and time. Even my Plumeria came from a lawn care company knocking a piece off a plant in a home that was for sale. They threw it out with other yard trash when they left. After the last hurricane snapped mine off at the soil and it's branches into many pieces, I have the original that has regrown as well as several new ones that I have both planted and gifted to others. Here they lose their leaves and go dormant in the winter, but come spring it's amazing how fast they go from dead looking stalks to large leaves and beautiful flowers. They are the flowers used in making the Hawaiian Lei necklaces for their colors and glorious smells. We would be friends if we lived closer, sharing plants and just enjoying them. I just know it, lol

A far as POLINATION IN THE GREENHOUSE, I have been learning about bumble bee colonies you can buy for your greenhouse. In the description it says they will only last a season then you need to buy more. I dug deeper and learned that bumble bee colonies are short lived in nature. As the colony nears its end it will send out new queens to start their own colony SOMEWHERE ELSE. With that in mind you can build multiple bumble bee nesting boxes and spread them throughout your greenhouse. The chances are high that the new queens will start a new colony in your greenhouse. 😉

I have also used medical tape to help heal a broken branch. My Meyer lemon tree had a branch get almost snapped in half, hanging on by just the outer layer, and it just happened to be a branch that hasd a tiny (still green) lemon on it. The tree only had 3 lemons growing in it, so i decided i was going to try to save that little lemon. And it worked! My thought process was that if you can graft, then it should be able to heal itself.
I also have saved seeds and grown them! I wish i had a neighbor like your mom!🌱

Oh my what a beautiful visit with your Mom ❤
"Give and forget" 🥰 such powerful beautiful words!
Your Mama's hands remind me of my Mama's hands! Beautiful and strong, with stories to tell of their labour of love in all that they've nurtured.
Thank you Jess, this was a blessing ❤️❤️❤️

We have huge night crawlers in our yard and I was so happy this spring to realize they had made their way into my raised beds. I buy half dead plants at Lowes to try to save them. My husband accidentally got our dogwood tree with a weed eater. He had tried so many years to transplant one and finally managed it last year. It just took the bark off it but I wrapped it with press and seal and it's doing great.

I never had anything near this with my parents. When I met Jesus, he took my longing and filled my heart. You truly bless me.❤🕊️

That's where the green stalk all started for me! I love her beautiful garden and I love container gardening. thanks for showing her beautiful garden again!!!

    I felt like I was watching a 2019 Roots & Refuge video again♥️
She reminds me of my mom and Grama. They’ve always had plants, ornamental gardens and grown different kinds of peppers since I can remember. As a kid them talking about all the plants made me fall asleep internally but now as a grown woman…what I’d give to hear my Grama talk my ear off about her plants again♥️

How precious is your relationship with your sweet Mom! Loved this tour! My favorite plants are the ones someone gave me or I've grown from pilfered seeds. I have only a few from friends, and they are so very special. When they bloom, I always send photos to the friend and tell them I'm thinking of them. What a lovely tradition! Blessings to you both, Marie

Love to see you with your mother. I, too, got my love for plants and gardening from my Mom. I broke a giant branch from a fig tree, taped it with thick parcel tape, healed, and grew into a giant tree over two stories high. You both ooze such love for gardening. Thank you, for sharing your joy with us.

Seeing you again with your mom, in her garden, made me cry. I always wished my mom would have been like yours, and made things grow. My mom did her best to raise us, but after moving out of her mom's house, where, if they didn't grow it they didn't have it to eat, she never gardened. So, I gained my gardening from both of my grandma's and my dad. Thank you for that once again trip through your mom's beautiful garden. Grow mom grow, all those babies you keep having at such a young age. Lol.

I watch Brenda Gantt's cooking videos and she keeps stock tanks in her yard with just one gold fish in it to solve her mosquito problems. When they lay their eggs in the water the goldfish eat them. She keeps them outside all year with no protection from frost or freeze.
