  • Omnisens has been active with Distributed Fiber Optic sensing for more than 20 years, deploying in the field monitoring solutions based on Brillouin and Rayleigh scattering. Such technologies are now widely spread in the energy transportation, featuring monitoring of HV power cables (offshore wind energy and interconnectors), onshore pipelines (oil, gas, water & chemicals) and Subsea assets (Subsea Umbilical, Riser & Flowlines - SURF). Other applications include Structural Health Monitoring and Geohazards.
During this webinar, Dr. Rochat, Omnisens’ CTO, briefly reviews the basics of distributed fiber optic sensing and then present some milestones achievements in these diverse and challenging operation conditions.
Dr. Etienne Rochat joined Omnisens in 2004. In 2009, he became R&D manager for fiber optic distributed sensing, then head of engineering in 2010 and CTO in 2013. He is in charge of product research & development for the company monitoring solution, featuring worldwide applications for pipeline and power cable monitoring. Dr. Rochat is the author of numerous papers in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings and of more than 10 patent families. He is an active member of FOSA Technology Committee.
