Translation would be clearer if the text actually used macrons, without them the words become ambigious. If I were to guess, the person who made the dialogue probably just put nonsense into google translate, including "serpentem,""gaudium," and "Deus" because they sound cool and people might know them vaguely from prayer. A clear sign that the dialogue was not made by a professional was the inclusion of "est." No one would use that unless absolutely necessary because it is redundant in the grammar since there is already a verb in most of the sentences. By including "est," all they do is emphasis how he/she/it is something. Not to mention that the tenses are all messed up; present, imperfect, and perfect are all in the same jumbled sentences. At least google translate is getting better at translating; when I started learning it could barely use the past tense.
