When I first went to a dead mall, it was a mall from my childhood. It made me feel super weird seeing a mall I grew up going to with a single family and with maybe 10% occupied. I've grown to appreciate dead malls and the ones I appreciate were ones that I never grew up with. I love the lack of people as I hate dealing with them and I love less people getting in the way. The aesthetic of dead malls is unmatched and I'll forever love them more than the overcrowded ones.
Dan, this is exactly what youtube is for. Quirky subject, artistic vision, experimental editing. You're not jamming ads down our throats, you're not editing this purely for the algorithm. You're just creating art that you obviously love creating. It's so nice to see. Very appreciative of what you produce my dude!
Thank you so much for this video. I met my husband when I worked at Bath & Body Works and he worked at Gold Buyers at the Mall in 2012 and I just never thought to capture photos or videos inside before we moved away and before it closed. Now I can always come back to it. Thank you again.
Your videos were my gateway into dead malls, hotels and also vaporwave. I became a huge fan of Dan Mason because of you including his music in your Dead Mall videos, and from there it introduced me to a genre that I didn't know existed and ultimately fell in love with. Thank you so much for that and everything you do.
Years ago, I used to work near this mall and I was shocked to find it in this condition. It was my first time experiencing a dead mall. I then found this video and discovered your work. Thanks for everything you do Dan!
Always am impressed with your productions if not just for taking time to credit the music mix and even as far as sound effects you use. That's a rarity around these parts, some of these channels lift stuff off of bandcamp and refuse to not only credit the artist but refuse to ID the song if people ask. Not okay
I like how all the standard stores are left GNC, Bath and body and surprisingly a Kay's Jewelry. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your series of videos.
@@noroomforsquares4483 the cafe was a million different things through the lifetime of the mall. It was not the creepy cafe at that time lol . I think it was a pizza place ( around Xmas 2000)
Cafe Europa is still open in the uniquely not dead Laurel Mall in Hazleton, PA. The food isn't bad and if you ever get up that way check it out. The design is from the very early 2000's and French which is odd considering they specialize in Italian food and coffees. As for the history - If I recall correctly, the Laurel Mall location was the first, and that opened about 20 years ago. They also once had a smaller satellite location in the Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre that served only specialty coffees and paninis (no pizza or dinners). That closed several years ago and was eventually replaced with a Cinnabon. I never knew that a third location existed in Phillipsburg.
You’re pretty close to the Logan Valley mall. It’s a bit more rough than Philipsburg mall. Last time I walked through it I choked up a bit because it was an important place for me and my friends growing up. It’s currently kinda hanging on by a thread. A couple of stores were actively packing up their stock as I was browsing. Might still have a bit of time to check it out if it interests you.
Hey Dan, it's my birthday today and this Dead Mall video has always been a favorite becuase the Dan Mason soundtrack and your videos in general are what got me into Vaporwave and Mallsoft when you first made the video! So thanks for that man! I'm so excited to see this again, remastered!
Man..."Sears" and "Bon-Ton" as anchors are pretty telling of how long ago this video was originally put out. And god...the faces on that cafe...I had forgotten those creepy faces and this video brought all that back.
My mom mentioned her local mall (Colonial Park Mall in Harrisburg PA) is doing really bad. A bunch of stores just closed, so it'll probably look like this as well soon enough. They announced the Bleacher Bums, Buffalo Wild WIngs and a few others are closing, and the Auntie Ann's is closed already. I think the only anchor still there is Boscov's, and that's not doing well.
A lot of the Crown American Malls built for Hess's have this blueprint. The former hess's was on one end and another anchor would be on the other some malls just ended in strip malls like Westgate mall in Bethlehem, PA
Another amazing remastered video! That neon is absolutely amazing! I so miss the awesome neon from the 80s. What the hell was up with that creepy café? It's like the creepy moon from Zelda's Majora's mask. Thank You Dan so much for remastering the wonderful videos!
Would you be interested in me filming a Mexican mall that is just like this, dying, with stories here and there? I could record with no voice and send you a "script" you can edit and voice over. It would be great to save it for the history books.
Dead malls are like liminal spaces. You feel like you’ve been there even when you haven’t.
Quite. Well put.

That’s amazing!
Also, and you may or may not be aware of this, but they are now officially demolishing the mall.
You always have the best intros. Absolute love this stuff.
When you first made this I lived in California. Now I live 10 minutes from this place. The kohls is still there.
It is, but the rest of the mall is now being demolished.
But Kohl’s is staying put
No customers at H&M..likely because people are tired of buying clothes that last about 3 days..Thanks for the vid!
You can never unsee the wall of faces.
The ghost of memories with every step, thank you.
The Mall the mall , lay down girlfriend 😂😂i love the tanning commercial Dan has on some of his dead mall series
that record shop moved over to PA in the Palmer Park Mall in Easton. I'm glad it's still around.

You're editing Dan! I loved the creepy restaurant!
Great stuff Dan. I remember the Dahmer Cafe!
This mall is permanently closed! thank you come again!
Good to have you back Dan... :)

Damn, it feels good when Dan drops some juicy dead mall content.
Hi Steph
I like how all the standard stores are left GNC, Bath and body and surprisingly a Kay's Jewelry. Keep up the good work I really enjoy your series of videos.
I worked at this mall at Babbages growing up. The death of the mall was kicking the food court out to move a H & M in.
Was the creepy cafe there at the time?

That clown restaurant was certainly interesting!

Haven't watched Dan in a while. Great to see new vids. The overwhelming emotions I got from this...also, that cafe was disturbing.

This upload is just in time for my work weekend! You are a huge inspiration , Dan!
You can almost smell the defeat in the air. No one here is making any profit.
It's funny how Proper People did their video on Phillipsburg now that it's properly abandoned and had to block out the name but I recognized the cafe.
When Dawn of the Dead happens I hope I’m in a fully stocked mall not holed up in some abandoned one.
Dan, these videos are when you're at your best. Thanks for the rehash

DMT TAPES and Dan Bell for an abandoned mall, couldn't have asked for a better video.
Just got this - very creepy! Don't like those sun and moon faces ugh!!!Great video Dan. x
This is awesome, Dan. I also really enjoy hearing the history and back-stories that you give us. Thanks so much.
Yes!! Best series ever!!!
Your videos are a comfort for me and always put me in a great mood, ty for creating them
Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me." How fitting for such a depressing place.
you're pumpin em out! Good work Dan!

Measurement of rooftop from what seems anchor store fronts, its 1,221 ft or .23 mi.
This was the last time of this To be open before being abandoned
The malllllllllll! Classic
I still love that creepy ass Italian place.
RIP PBurg, the lehigh valley mall was always gonna win
My gosh those faces 😬 So scary!
The best!!! Even better!!! 🎉🎉🎉
I would like to know where Dan got the intro footage of the teens going out. Thanks!
YES I LOVE THESE.
That cafe is hilarious, what the fuck 😂
I'm surprised that Victoria's secret is open but there's no spencers gifts
I wonder what the menu is like in that cafe? I think it looks really interesting!

I went to to back last weekend but now security pays attention
Hahah “this plant is half living half not living “
Wait what you came to the p-burg mall?
Just another dead mall except for the cafe.
ACE brought me here
Was that Viggo Mortenson in the opening montage?
Dark Rabbits xxx

That intro though
Oh my gosh Dan thank you so much❤
