From my experience Pharmacist is considered as a normal job. Anyone can find a medical shop in very corner. Here in India Govt jobs are considered as high fie jobs and obviously Doctor. Banker, teacher, etc service jobs are normal jobs
In my experience, being a Doctor is considered high profile in India too. As for being a banker, it sure is not considered as high profile as Doctor but it definitely is considered higher than being a teacher. Other High Profile Jobs in India are Software Engineers, CA, Pilot (or sometimes just being in IAF), Civil Services, etc. But yeah govt. jobs are definitely considered the highest!

And you have to get high grades to enter the pharmacy department. It is a profession that requires expertise in dealing with medicine. So that expertise is highly valued. It's also a very stable profession and a high paying profession. Some pharmacists even make more than doctors. I know a woman who is a 28-year-old pharmacist who drives a Benz to work and a Porsche on the weekends.
