Lived in Hanwell. We'd pass through Southall on way to Beck theatre. A game we'd play was spot the miniture man in the windows of the shops on main high street. Anyone know what the model was? Was mainly in the clothes shops. Most of them seemed to have one. Seemed to be a famous thing. Not sure. Then in 90s when went to college in Uxbridge and Hayes never saw them anymore.
Yes this is true. Some shops open later than 10am, around 11am. One of the exceptions to this is Mor Foods, which opens at 7am until quite late. Useful for crowd dodging, if it is visited at an early time. Most of the shoppers turn up around 11am, at least it starts to become crowded then. Thanks for your comment.
Thank God they scrapped that box junction at the South/Broadway/Lady Margaret intersection. Caused more jams than it prevented. Also Good riddance to the forest of traffic lights along the Broadway. Traffic actually moves now
Hi i was on holidays in London and was in Southall when you make this video me and my Family is in video .Can you please remove this video or edit the part of video plz??? bocz i didnt want to People see my Family. thank you
And greetings to you too. Where about in South America? Yeah! Ah, the English! A longish time ago, I think it was in the 1930's reportedly, a fairly large number of Welsh people came to Southall. Southall has an Irish population too. I think it was from the 1960's (it may have been earlier) there were quite a few Spanish people here too. I think that the Asian people began to arrive mostly from the 1950's onward. Not to mention the Scots! And West Indians. I do not have a great idea as to what you mean by English! However back to your point. Where are the English? I do not really know exactly where they went. How they left Southall I might know more about. Those who owned their own homes sold up and left. Well the places of employment were closing or relocating and new towns were beckoning people, even advertising for people to move there. There were job prospects too. Gradually the home owner English sold up and moved. The renters, there were quite a few more of them, well the kids grew up moved away, the parents got a smaller place elsewhere..... You know the usual things! Have a great day Alicia!

Most of the Asian shops don't open before 10.00AM cos they stay open till around 9.00PM, used to live there in the 70's, very different back then.

Box junctions were cash cows. It is far easier to cross The Broadway nowdays. Seems better all round.
Is it London or Islamabad?
Neither, as far as I know.
As far as I am concerned Southall is in Middlesex England !
