- If you follow us on Instagram (@LucoreRacing) you MAY have seen us post about this purchase back in the late summer, since then we've been a bit busy! Now it's finally slowed down enough to get new hard air lines run throughout the shop and our VHT Technologies Vapor Honing Cabinet in place! We've waited months to try this out, and first impressions... we are certainly impressed!
Anyone who's tried to bring an old car back to life looking it's best knows the struggle of tarnishing and grime, it's very hard if not impossible to get pieces back to their luster of yesteryear. With the amount of old rides and classics we do around here, not to mention Rich's Jet Ski addiction, this seemed like a possible answer to bringing back some life to those old bits of metal.
In this video we're using the Ultra Fine Hollow Glass Bead media which is the finest media we have available to provide the cleanest most polished finish. We toss a number of different aluminum items into the cabinet and have at it to see just how well this process works. As you'll see we are quickly surprised with not only the finish left behind but also the speed at which it gets there, trying to get this same kind of look by hand would be hours upon hours of work.
At the moment this is something we are experimenting with in the shop on our own items and on a few of our own customer pieces. Once we get this process fine tuned we will be opening up this kind of treatment as a mail in or drop off service for local customers and anyone looking to have their pieces worked over. We certainly feel like the investment is worth the additional value to our customers, don't you?
Will absolutely confirm we have been playing with this thing almost non stop since getting it set up! Make all the things pretty from now on!
" Now where did I put that Engine Size Bubblewrap and Airmail Box ?? " Hmmmm........One Day ....Lol
Looks so much cleaner to use let alone cleaner products after the Honing ! Nice !!
@@Oh-Jay52 lol well you have some time to locate them first, we are still learning this thing and what it can/can't do. Also, we need shelving! Lol
The difference is absolutely striking on a lot of this stuff. We are feverishly cleaning... everything
Nice addition to the shop.👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
Oh for SURE! Whole new capability for us, and our customers!
Amazing modern technology. Old parts look brand new again
Yessir we are very much enjoying this new addition!
Thats awesome 👍🔧👍
It's ABSOLUTELY awesome! Expensive spend but man we're gonna have prettier things rolling out of here!
@@LucoreAuto out performs my scratch pad and wd 40. Its is definitely an OCD approved machine
@@ac7205 For SURE it does, going to be ripping the wheels off the Volvo wagon here in a day or so to see how they clean up. It's incredibly satisfying seeing stuff come back to life under this spray... and WAY less work.
Looks GREAT Richard, thank you for your support.
Thanks, glad we finally got this thing set up! Very impressed with this thing so far! Blasting everything we can get oir hands on now!
That process is impressive.
We are VERY impressed so far and still have a lot to learn with different media as well. For Day 1 hook it up and spray, we're loving it. Have polished many things today!
I see a full time parts cleaner guy in your near future . Great job
It's certainly a possibility! Dunno how much business there will be in this stuff but we're certainly using the hell out of it ourselves for now!
@@LucoreAuto You have to break in all the new shop toys I mean Tools 🛠
That would be awesome for wheels
That's on the to do list this week, have a set of 90s MSW Wheels on the Volvo that are bare aluminum, really want to see how they clean up!
Nice work on the shop...takes money to make money...
We are certainly ton opposed to spending money to upgrade the shop and our capabilities, hopefully this is one that will pay for itself eventually. Self investment is a good investment!
Wow! What a difference!
Right!? So glad we finally got this thing set up and running!
Very cool, USA All The WAY.
This is DEFINITELY a Made in the USA success! We are very very pleased so far!
That's awesome machine
It certainly better be for the price, but so far, we aren't complaining!
Too bad you're not in New Jersey we need people like you in Jersey
There's gotta be people like us there, they may just be tough to find 😉 We will eventually offer a mail in service for this type of thing if you are in need?
That is awesome!
It sure as heck is! We are SUPER excited for it... and have already been playing with it for hours 😀
I have one, but mine is the Original English made vaquablast . What you need is a wet jet on the wiper so you can see what you are doing better. I just stick the parts straight in dirty as my water system is a closed circuit and I can clean the oil out of sump without dumping it in the sewer. The process was invented by Rolls Royce to clean air craft engine parts without destroying them like dry blasting does.
Interesting to know where it came from, didn't know that! 🤔 Makes sense though! This is a closed loop system as well, we're on day 1 with it so trying to keep the water/media as clean as possible. It does actually have a water squirter for the wiper as well just above and out of camera shot.
What type of media do you typically use in yours and what are you blasting?
Hi, I have a similar machine from VHT and I add a few LBs of Alu oxide, will help you with the heavier oxidized parts.
Do you run both the hollow glass bead and the alu oxide at the same time? We certainly want an option of something that will cut just a bit better, though we may put that in our dry cabinet
🤩 wow
Very very wow
Stick the LeMans in that machine! ;)
Lol! Noooo gotta keep THAT Rusty dingyness!
@@LucoreAuto Right, and connecting the battery in reverse polarity won't destroy the patina but will convert any hooptie into a chick magnet.
@@thisisyourcaptainspeaking2259 I will paint that hood flat black and it will make that car look soooooooo much better.... JS.... Shhhhh!!!!!! dont tell Aust
@@richardlucore6813 Ha,ha, I like the way it looks but the idea of it sitting outdoors in the weather gives me the shivers. This is why I cannot collect anymore of these old classics, no good place to store them.
I wish I could have one but I don’t have the room or funds . I follow a few channels that use them .
They most CERTAINLY aren't cheap but wow what a difference. Even compared to doing a walnut type blasting, the finish is incredible.
That is freaking awesome!!!! What would that cost to do say and Edelbrock performer intake for a Pontiac?? Lol
Lol we haven't figured costs and such out yet and we are still learning the capabilities of the machine ... but shouldn't be much. Don't want to say for sure just yet but, won't be much. Actually blasting an Edelbrock performer 383 for a Mopar tomorrow to see how it turns out so... stay tuned!
@@LucoreAuto awesome I will definitely be waiting to see that for sure and I'm very interested in getting mine done for my Pontiac!!
@@robacon6386 not sure if we'll make a video of it or not but will post photos probably here in our community tab and on our IG page. Fingers crossed it'll look great🤞

I haven’t even finished watching the video and I’m on my way with a load of parts
Lol hold up there hoss, we don't even have shelving set up yet for parts! We're still playing with our own stuff! 😀
HELL Yea love this machine how much r u guys going to charge by part by hour really like to know Iam here in Ohio also thanks for sharing guys love the channel
Honestly we're still kind of figuring that out and trying to figure out what media(s) to use. It's probably just going to be a time thing, the meter comes on as we start spraying and go from there. Certainly seems like there's some interest in the process so... should have some answers soon
Wow guys, that sure does a great job, this is the first I`ve heard of this machine.
Axis Vapor Honing Industries
Looks Like Awesome Piece Of Equipment To Have
For sure! We already love this thing, and have been playing with it constantly! 😀
Original equipment back to brand new that is awesome keep up the nice work guys
Opens up a whole lot of opportunities in the restoration of toys for sure. We're very excited for this new capability in the shop!
that intake is it for 250 chevy straight 6
Jeep 4.0/4.2 build we have had sitting on the back burner for.... a couple years now. FINALLY getting around to it this spring
I have seen a lot of vapor blasting done on jet engine turbine parts. Vapor blasting definitely does a great job.
Absolutely, interestingly we've also hit a bunch of jet ski parts as well and they clean up incredibly well. So far we are most impressed!
Yes, its vapor blasting, what are we honing ???
Love it!
So far, so do we! 😀
I use glass beads in my media blaster. I’ve had better results with the glass beads than I ever did with the walnut media.
Are you using solid or hollow glass beads? Our process at this point is start with a walnut blast in the dry cabinet then move to the hollow glass in this VHT cabinet
@@LucoreAuto solid glass beads 70/100 grit.
cool!
Sounds like a job for a new hire / shop hand that just cleans parts, the shop, customers cars, etc.
If this part of the business becomes a bigger thing it very well may become that. Gotta get this thing paying for itself then we'll see!
Who owns Lucore?
The man you see doing the blasting and most of the wrenching in this video
@@LucoreAuto Richard? Tf.
dry blast with fine crushed glass I would also look at a better gun.
Howdy LuCore ?
Offenhauser Intake Manifold ??? by CLIFFORD 6=8 ... LOL
COOP
...
yes.....Good eye! I am a dummy and I make mistakes. But now it looks like a brand-new Clifford 6=8 intake when I am done with it. It even says Clifford on it.....LOL So, I will take full responsibility on that one!
