Same. It's crazy how "entry level" cameras are $1000 now. It's like the camera companies didn't get the e-mail that there's been a worldwide financial collapse.

Hi Christopher, my most used lens on Sony a6000 is the 7artisans 25mm f/1.8 manual lens. Definitely inexpensive (I bought it new for 60 euro) and extremely sharp in the center already from f/1.8. The equivalent field of view (FOV) on full frame camera is that of a 37mm lens. I really appreciated your review of budget lenses and the only minor issue is the lack of lenses for apsc sensors around 24mm focal length (equivalent to 35mm FOV on full frame) which is a very popular one.
you are one of the most important channels for me on youtube .. I love your reviews and you made me make good decisions for picking my sony lenses ... greetings from Egypt

Incredible all-encompassing video for A6XXX shooters! I was happy to see Sigma's 16mm f1.4 on this list, it was the first lens I ever purchased, and the last APS-C lens I've kept. I'd love to see this same video format for budget Full-Frame E-mount lenses. Cheers!
Thanks for another comprehensive lower end cost review. I shoot quite a lot of wide angle, mainly landscapes, and find the Samyang wide angles to be excellent- regardless of price. The Viltrox 85 1.4 ( more like 135mm in FF terms) seems to be a good candidate, however the Sigma 56 1.4 with closer cropped focal length & AF just does a great job. With those wide angle Samyangs, manual focus a non issue as generally zone type focus at e.g 5.6, f8 or wider & everything is focus.
The Sigma 60mm F2.8 DN Art is the best and cheapest lens I've ever had. The quality for the price is stellar. I only paid $70 for it. I recommend with all confidence!

It's strength is nearby and not landscape and the max aperture is not that spectacular. I just bought one, it is excellent value, I'll see how it compared to the Sigma 30/1.4 for landscape. But the macro sure is a winner for close up.

Thinking about switching from MFT to APS-C this is super helpful to get an impression of the sony lens market - which looks very interesting. Thank you!
Like MFT, you can also convert almost any lens from any manufacturer. I just bought a Sigma 18-35 1.8 that was made for Sony A mount (nee Minolta), and with the Sony adapter it autofocuses, sends exif, and is _wicked_ sharp. Not budget, but when you have a Sony and you're interested in Manual lenses, the choices are great. When I decided to get the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f2.8 I looked at best price on Pentax, Nikon, and Sony, and found a Pentax one for a great price. Canon supposedly are the best to convert, but I have no Canon assets at all right now, although it is a possibility. I've been a Pentax guy for years, and have tons of lenses, and when I decided to get a new body I went with a Sony A6500, great sensor and in body stabilization. That said, I hear good things about MFT, and you should be able to do almost all of this with that format.

Fantastic for someone like me making the jump from a Sony a55 to a6300. Lots of lenses! Unfortunately A-mount lenses' resale value's collapsed completely so I'll likely just give them to my dad (who's inherited the a55).
You forgot the sigma 60mm f2.8 DN Art. This is the best value lens for portrait photos. This lens was rated the sharpest lens for Sony A6000 by DxO mark in 2014
The Sigma 19mm f2.8 DN is missing . A very good and cheap 28mm equivalent which is superior to Sony 20mm f2.8. This Sigma 19mm and the Samyang 12mm f2 offer a nice WA-UWA pair for the E mount.
I've been a Nikon shooter for almost 20 years and I have always used Nikon lenses. They offer great inexpensive lenses and I never had to look for third party alternatives... Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Sony. The thing is my little brother has recently acquired a Sony A6400 and I would like to buy him his first prime lens (I was thinking of a fast AF lens in the 30-35mm range). Can someone explain why he says 50mm is the most popular portrait lens "in any camera system"? Wouldn't that be around 35mm in APS-C, due to the 1.5x equivalency? I'd appreciate any explanation someone can give.
Aside from the already-mentioned Sigma 56mm (my fave of the trio), I was surprised none of the ultrawide Laowa lenses made it, you seemed to like the 9mm and 12mm Zero-D. Has your opinion on them changed? Eyeing the 9mm as my next lens.
@@christopherfrost hi Chris Thanks for the reply. I admire your work and do not buy lenses until watcging your videos. But my question is when are you releasing a video for best cheap FE full frame lenses?
I second the recommendation of the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm f2.0. Fantastic lens for landscape work. It's primary weakness, lack of AF, won't affect most of the time either since at 12mm just about everything is in focus at once.
