    Thank you! This is the best video I can imagine to show the more or less uniqe technology of articulating sidecars.

    It looks well designed, it has torsion bar, and suspension that mimics. Some other designs I have looked weld 2 inch galvanized fence pipe. One think is some manufacture designs such as Ural have power to outer tire, though this would be for off-road at lower speeds. The paint coating is also good.

    I try in Englisch
    The little Metal thing at the lower front side is for the upper metal connector when you disconnect the sidecar from the bike.
    When you don't use it the sidecar will fall to the side when you disconnect it from the bike

    I can't help thinking that could have been designed a lot better.
    Seems like the whole thing could have been made with a much lower profile.
    The Tilting Linkage arrangement for example, could surely have been placed at the rear, meaning the Body could be sat much lower.

      Sorry but I rarely visit. They were sold new by Side-Bike, a French manufacturer. Only 200 of these were produced between 1990-94. Three imported into North America. Mine was for sale by a private owner who lived in California.

    Interesting construction. But many moving components also mean many potential weak points

    • @aaronelvishaefer1572
      @aaronelvishaefer1572  Місяць тому

      You do realize that a French manufacturer: Side-Bike made this in the early 90's, yes? The model is called Toro. I have a copy of the patent application that was emailed to me about 20 years ago. I don’t have that email. It was on a long dormant email account. All I have is print of it. Obviously, it is in French. .

    Aaron, have been trying to get info like this on the Toro for ages, any chance you can share some more videos with close ups of pivot joints, body installation, etc. Thanks Daryl

    • @aaronelvishaefer1572
      @aaronelvishaefer1572  7 років тому +1

      The heim joints are enclosed in the body. I'd have to remove the sidecar, pull out the pop rivets, disassemble the inner tub and outer shell, remove the inner frame, reassemble the framework and reattach the same to the bike. I had no experience with any leaning sidecar prior to the Toro. I had no reallive person standing before me to discuss the issues I'd face as a Toro pilot. I had the framework attached to get short term, lightweight experience before the bodywork was done being fiberglass repaired and painted. I've seen pictures of Toro owners with no outer shell. Easy guess: an accident caused a lot of damage. The P.O. put a case of beer sized hole in the outer shell of my Toro prior to selling it to me.

      You mean how much did it cost in 1990-94 when new? I'll get back to you with that. I bought it used for (???) Maybe $1200USD it needed body work. Put another $2000 for body work and paint. It is not for sale. I have only seen one for sale in the last 20 years: in Europe I think. Maybe 14 years ago.
