Just completed my Brown Acid section with Trip 16 ( killer volume ! ) and Trip 19 , great ! . Cant wait to see Trip 276 !! Best regards from over the ocean
Just to put it out there, would love to see reissues of Cool Feet, Aeroblus and Jordan Michaels if you're looking for ideas on future projects. Love what you do, always looking forward to what's next.
Great recommendations as always 🤘 On the reissue vs. OG question, I’m usually fine with a well-done reissue if originals are crazy expensive. For certain records, though, an original just has a little extra magic that will make me choose a slightly more beat up copy instead of a reissue. Case in point: I got an OG Funkadelic Maggot Brain yesterday, and traded my reissue towards it. The reissue was NM, and the OG is VG, but just having an original of that album in the collection is worth it even if it’s not perfect (but as you frequently say, my copy “plays better than it looks!” 😁)
Hey Simon! Great to hear from you! I hear what you're saying and I generally agree that I would prefer an OG if it's in reasonable condition and it plays well. Your "Maggot Brain" example makes perfect sense to me, especially since many of the reissues of that title in particular don't sound very good anyway. That said, I'd rather have a NM reissue of a African, Brazilian, or Jamaican record than one that's hammered and plays with a bunch of surface noise. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on that example. Selling records on Instagram during the pandemic is how we ended up using the "Plays better than it looks" description so much. When something is visually low VG or G+ and plays well, we offer those records at a deep discount with a guarantee that it will play without skipping. Honesty is the best policy and we are some of the most conservative graders around. Cheers!
If an album is a grail for you get an OG AND a reissue play copy, if you are more of a casual listener of a particular band or album a reissue is fine Cheers from the Great White North
Too many to mention, but some of my favorites are Jazz records that don’t sound like traditional Jazz like Don Cherry’s “Brown Rain” or Tony Williams’ “Turn It Over…and lots of Spiritual Jazz, of course.

Rotary Connection were a great band! The Songs album rocks. If a reissue sounds great I’ll take it!

The Sainte Anthony's Fyre boys are from Trenton, NJ nice yellow pressing btw
Word, Detroit-style from just outside of NYC.
Thanks definitely Detroit style
I'll always be a sucker for a decent seasonal record.
Same!
Always cool to look at ANY records you might feel like showing Lance ✌️🤘🤘 edit: amazing Who..!👀
Thank you very much! I’m humbled. 🙇
Brown rain is incredible

Unrelated vinyl comment but you look like Stacy Peralta in his young age :D

Good advice.
You look like a young Evan Dando
Thank you! ☺️
I used to find that Phil Spector record every year at goodwill. Wish I’d have kept a copy, the reissues cover is super creepy
Like a lot of records, it used to be super cheap. Still very affordable and fairly easy to find in shops like ours.
You mean Dennis Wilson? (Not Brian)
Did I say Brian? Man, I move tooooo fast sometimes.
What are your favourite jazz records, Lance? Keep up the good work! Cheers.

First like gets a deal....🎉
Who's on your shirt bro ?
Brown Acid 19
@PermanentRecordsLA sweet shirt thanks 😊
Zappa Box??? How much?
Which one?!?!
I’ll take Zamrock on a scratchy beat-up OG. Just feels more authentic. But repress vinyl still beats other formats.
I feel ya on the authenticity tip. Just don’t personally wanna own records that don’t play well when there is another option.
