Too be fair while MP2 was the biggest N64 Mario Party seller the first game really needed this the most because of the legal/injury issues with ever rereleasing it.
There's also a playable board from MP3. Woody Woods is depicted on the box art for Superstars.

I’m most excited most for Metroid Dread. It’s seriously been 19 years since they left us in suspense on what would happen after Metroid Fusion
Oh yeah it does look a lot like Fusion.
@@Lazer_Specter the trailer started as Metroid 5, so it is the sequel to Fusion.
Also the big reason why the antagonist looks more robotic since Metroids are supposed to be extinct by then (unless one of the clones from Fusion managed to escape).

@@Lazer_Specter Should also be noted that the devs MercurySteam are HUGE Fusion fans. They had pitched a Metroid Fusion remake to Nintendo, and we got Samus Returns instead with its hints and nods towards Fusion. A lot of the mechanics and the visual styles are lifted from SR.
This installment is also particularly special because as was stated in the Development History video, this is potentially the last Metroid game (or at least the “end of this story arc” (assuming they’re talking Zero Mission through Dread and everything in between) as they put it) in the timeline. After that, who knows what comes next?

I'm beyond ecstatic that the Danganronpa board game mode is getting a standalone game. I'm going to put an absurd amount of hours into that.

2022 was _way_ earlier than I expected for BotW2. Given that all we got two years ago was a "now in development" trailer, I'll be deeply impressed if it hits that mark!
I'm sure we will unless the pandemic gets really bad again.
It helps that a lot of the groundwork was already laid down with BotW. Hyrule doesn’t look entirely new aside from the sky islands and from what we saw it looked like some of the gameplay (the Talus enemy camp and the updated Stasis rune demo) does take place on ground level.
Really? Most people expected it to be this years holiday title.

Metroid 5 was all I wanted. I don't think I could've been any happier.
I loved seeing Steven's reaction to Advanced Wars, but it also means that we may see some other beloved GBA titles get remasters like Golden Sun and the Oracle games.

The first two Golden Suns getting a full remake a la Secret of Mana/Trials of Mana would be god tier.

We live in a timeline where all that and BotW2 all were featured in a Nintendo Presentation. That to me is pretty wild.
All this great news almost made me forget that we're still stuck on Mario Kart 8 after over seven years.
If they didn't make DX, we would have one.
But they were rushing stuff out to get those Switch's sold.

in all honesty I'm super excited for Monkey Ball 1+2+Deluxe remakes, Advance Wars 1+2, and Metroid Dread. I'm probably getting the former game on Xbox because the idea of joycon drift + Monkey Ball horrifies me, but I'm glad it's coming to all current systems (including PC!).

Knowing your taste in games, Stephen, I actually think you'd enjoy Kakarot a lot. The reviews were low based on the fact it was a DBZ game, not because there was anything seriously wrong with the game. Is it the best game out there? No. Is it a semi-open world DBZ game? Yes.
As far as what I wanted from this conference, I got my Shin Megami Tensei V release date, so I was happy. Already got Dragon Quest news at their anniversary showcase earlier this year. Now, if I could only hear that Level 5 was planning a new slate of releases for English localization... Or that tri-Crescendo is getting another solo developed game... Sigh... I guess one can dream...
My thoughts:
1. As a recent Metroid fan, Dread looks sooooo good! I don't have many friends into the series but I am so excited! The Samus Returns control scheme seems like it should work a lot better on Switch than 3DS. That's why I couldn't get into Samus Returns, but the controls seem better for me now.
2. After hearing the rumors about Monkey Ball, the reveal was exciting! Never played the originals but I'm definitely gonna pick that up because it seems like a series I'd like.
3. Dog. You won.
4. The Mario Party Boards are from across the series, I'm pretty sure. I think Space Land is from 2.
5. I love the aesthetic of the new Advance Wars! I never played the originals, but the new one does look so cool!
6. I love the mystery hunt going on with Breath of the Wild 2, I took some of the audio that sounded like it was reversed and unreversed it, but it didn't become any clearer. The game looks so cool! As a huge Skyward Sword fan, I'm excited for the sky theming to come back.
Also funnily enough, the Smash reveal was the most ehhh to me, even though I did like it a lot. Not a particularly surprising character, but also still a cool addition!

I also think Wario Ware Get it Together would be fun as a stream, especially with the two player part to it!
Also after you tweet about "there was a part I really cheered at", I thought it was Breath of the Wild 2 now that you're finally able to keep up on news, but the fact that it was Advance Wars absolutely brought a smile to my face. That made a lot more sense.
Now...to fanboy out about Dread:
It seems like they're doing an interesting hybrid of both the best part of Fusion, and the exploration of the rest of the series! The EMMI only shows up in specific sections, which breaks it apart from the regular exploration of the main game. It's a nice mix of both since I still haven't played Fusion for myself, because what seems like the best part of the game is the tense chase sequences running away from an invincible threat. The control scheme also seems like it's not quite what I hoped, but still better than it used to be, since it seems the second stick might not be used for the precision aiming...? Still not sure if that's the case, but there still seems to be a button to activate that. Really hoping using the second stick to aim, and remapping the fire button to a trigger is an option. Still, adding a dash version of the counter and a slide looks like nice additions. They're definitely giving this a lot more speed, which I'm not sure how to feel about still. Something I liked about the chase sequences from Fusion, or at as it seemed from videos, was that Samus moved kind of slow, making it feel like one of those dreams where you're running away from something terrifying but are running in slow motion. On the other hand, if the EMMI's speed is fast enough, that does give it the chance to keep the same exhilarating feeling. Either way, moving fast is always better for exploring the environment outside of those areas.
Anyways, if you read my fanboy rant about Dread, thanks! If you didn't, I don't blame you. Just really wanted to write this down somewhere.
Same with me for the Smash trailer. Like I have a lot of good memories of 6 but the inclusion of Kazuya is alright. Whag I liked was all the little nods to the series in it with the splash screen and victory screen. When I heard it was a Tekken character I was kinda hoping for Raven but Kazuya is fine.
Yeah, Samus Returns was actually kind of painful to play at times.

Funfact for those who don't know, Metroid Dread was a cancelled Metroid game originally being developed for the DS. It's really surprising and neat to see Nintendo to revive it.
As for me I was hoping for a new Donkey Kong Country game.

I don't know how I never considered this with Okami being my favourite game of all time, and damn that would be awesome.
This was the sort of Direct where I personally was not excited, but I respect that they are doing a lot with franchises that aren’t thought about often, like Stephen said about Advanced Wars, or franchises that haven’t had much content/news lately. It wasn’t for me, but I’m happy for those who I know will be excited.
...but then of course BOTW2 news, so I got thoroughly stoked at the end. 🙌
All i was really hyping myself up for was more BotW 2 info, and they delivered that in spades. To see all the fun surprises apart from that, and I am right there with you on the Advance Wars remake Stephen, made this one of the best directs ever imo.

I like all the Tekken references in that trailer. The font and everything for the splash screen was an excellent touch as well as the announcer for the victory screen. Pythra is still my favorite dlc.
Metroid Dread looks awesome. Can't wait to run from a bunch of General Greivous clones crossed with portal 2 bots. New Mario Party looks good.
And of course, Breath of the Wild 2 hype.
I didn't know how much I wanted Frodo in Smash until Mal said it. I'm very excited for Metroid Dread because Samus Returns on the 3DS was very very good, and Breath of the Wild 2 looks even more beautiful than the first game. Little sad at no Xenoblade news, but I can live with that.

I was happy about just about everything, Metroid, Hyrule warriors dlc, botw 2, Danganronpa collection and advance wars are all things that I personally will probably buy but even all the other stuff I saw just looked really neat and I can see why people would get excited for those things.
The thing I probably wanted to see but didn't get was a Nintendo switch Pro but it's fine, if they release one they release it, if they don't they don't. I'm just happy that Nintendo still makes so many amazing things

My main take aways from this presentation were SMT V and Danganronpa's updated boardgame (as weird as that sounds)
I was really expecting to see Prime 4 and more BotW2, but we got another teaser and a new Metroid game so I can’t complain!

I was mostly excited for SMT 5 and Skyword Sword HD. I would have liked to see an English release for Yokai Watch 4. Over all pretty good direct.
I'm guessing that BotW2 is getting delayed. Two years after the reveal and they only show another teaser without a title? Yeah, it's a couple more years away.
Looking forward most of all to Metroid. We've been in suspense for a long time.
It's more than a teaser, it has actual gameplay. Plus, if I remember correctly, BotW's title was unknown until E3 2016, like nine months before its release.
Advance Wars is back!!! Super excited for the remakes. The characters look so colorful, and they announced it would have online stuff. So psyched for it!
Oh, and Kazuya in Smash is giving me some flashbacks to playing Tekken 2 in my childhood. Super excited with that as well.

what a good direct, a bunch of stuff I didn't even know I wanted was there and the Zelda portion basically lived up to my expectations. would I have loved to see Wind Waker revealed for switch? sure, but I wasn't realistically thinking it was even possible
and maybe, someday, we might get Shantae in smash....a dream, perhaps.
I cannot wait for Metroid Dread!
Also I loled at Nintendo winking/yeeting the F-Zero franchise there via Cap... but for real Nintendo let us get a new F-Zero for Switch, kthxbai.
Can't wait for Stephen and Mal to wait 4 years before playing the BotW sequel.
I'm super pumped for the new Metroid game they showed, but this E3 left me more surprised by what Nintendo didn't do as opposed to what they did do. No Splatoon news, still no love for the Mother Series, no switch collection for Zelda's 35th, no new main series Mario game, no updates on Switch hardware updates.... If BOTW 2 is slated for 2022, and it does actually release then, the Switch will be going on 7 years old.

The things I find the most interesting are Mario Party and BoTW2. I didn't really have expectations considering I'm not the kind of person to expect something before it's announced, maybe a slight hunch that there would be BoTW 2 news but that was about it.

I wanted a Zelda All Stars game, but they said in the direct no other games or promotions were planned. So kind of bummed for that, but overall a decent Nintendo E3

Breath of the Wild 2 is definitely taking a Majora’s Mask approach mixed with a Skyward Sword feel and I’m very alright with that.
I’m most excited for Metroid Dread and the Mario Party. I’m hoping for some more Splatoon 3 content and release date. Plus BOTW2 hype.

Personally really got hyped for BOTW2, otherwise I think I'm most excited for SMTV (but I have a massive SMT backlog already), and like the look of Metroid Dread, but I've never played a Metroid before.
Otherwise it's stuff I might watch people play, but am never going to get myself.

my friends and I recently got into Super Mario Party because of the online addition, so on one hand I'm a little bummed that they didn't release DLC for that, but I'm still picking up the new one. I hope they do what you said and release more boards in the future. I also wish we'd have more Mario Kart, again by either them adding on to MK8 or announcing MK9
All either of them had to say about Monster Hunter Stories 2, the reason I was watching E3, was: "I really hate the word Monsties" 😭
I know they aren't that big into Monster Hunter or Turn based games, but man, that just made me sad.
I'm most happy about Metroid Dread finally being real! I'm so ready for another original 2D Metroid game especially since it takes place after Metroid Fusion! October can't come soon enough!
It’s likely already been said, but I’m wondering if we will get an updated switch console this year like it has been rumored, or if they will choose to make BOTW2 a “launch” title for the updated console in Q4 of 2022?
Nintendo went above and beyond what I was expecting from this presentation. Not only was every single presentation shown before it (Especially Square and Capcom) completely disappointing, but I was even willing to accept next to nothing seeing as it's the first E3 since the pandemic began and we're still in it (Especially Japan which is seeing some relatively rough numbers as of the last few months).
Absolutely loved seeing everything that we saw especially Mario Party, Metroid, and Advance Wars. Also An actual NEW(ish) Danganronpa game makes my heart so happy especially knowing it's based on the board game and my children will all be safe.
IM SO MCFRICKIN EXCITED FOR MARIO PARTY, I WANT THE DRAMA, I WANT THE DIVISION, I WANT THE ANARCHY, THAT'S WHAT A MARIO PARTY GAME IS ALL ABOUT BB AND WHAT BETTER THAN TO BRING BACK THE OGS :0DDD

Honestly, I'm surprised you didn't show any reaction to THPS remastered! Thought it might be something you're into based on some past First20s.
I love THPS, and I'm glad it's coming to Switch, but it's been out for nearly a year already. Sometimes I don't comment on ports because there just isn't a whole lot to say, basically.
Personally im so happy about Fatal Frame 5 port and Danganronpa. SMT5 is also great to finally have a release date since it was announced with the Switch.
I didn’t get any Pokémon news but it was still good.
From this Direct what excited me most was Advance Wars 1+2. Definitely didn't expect it, and it's a game I'm not GOOD at but willing to play and get better at. It's like Fire Emblem without plot and character death.
As far as what I'm still looking out for, there's a million things I want but don't ever expect, but more realistically I'd like to see a new Mario Kart, something to really set it apart from the last one. Something that's easier on my hands but that's a diferent discussion. :p

I’m hyped for more Mario party and honestly most of the games that they showcased. But I am still wanting to see a new F-zero game sometime.
