- GRONINGEN - De voormalige Groningse studente, die in Colombia bij de linkse terreurbeweging de FARC zou vechten, is Tanja Nijmeijer uit Groningen.
Tanja Nijmeijer was jaren geleden actief in de Groningse kraakbeweging. Dat blijkt uit een interview uit 2001 met een verslaggever van RTV Noord die destijds bij het Nieuwsblad van het Noorden werkte. Tanja woonde toen in een kraakpand aan de Spilsluizen in Groningen.
Het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken zegt echter niet te weten wie de vrouw is.
De Rijksuniversiteit Groningen heeft inmiddels bevestigd dat de guerilla-strijdster er Spaans heeft gestudeerd. Of Nijmeijer degene is die als 'Eillen' in Colombia voor de FARC vecht, wil de RuG niet bevestigen.
Het dagboek van de vrouw werd onlangs gevonden door het Colombiaanse leger bij een verrassingsoverval. In het dagboek uit de voormalige Groningse studente kritiek op de FARC. Ze schrijft dat ze na jaren van strijd twijfelt aan het regime.
Volgens deskundigen heeft Tanja weinig kans om de zaak te overleven. De FARC zal haar straffen voor haar kritiek. Weet ze te ontsnappen en ze komt in handen van de regering, dan loopt haar een celstraf van 25 jaar boven het hoofd.
Greatest respect, indeed affectión, for this intelligent and courageous country-woman. Nothing was true of the reports that "her life was endangered", as it turned out.
And her argumentation to act is spot on.
i dont believe she knew exactly what she was doing, if you read her diary, she seems deeply disappointed with her experience in FARC. I dont believe either that she knew the situation we colombians live, but she probably does have a much better idea now. More than blaming her, most of us feel sorry for her, she just didn't choose the right way to help colombia. And what is worse, she is not the only international who is being misleaded in such a way.
My love and respect to this heroic, idealistic girl! It's wonderful to have other ideals and wishes than soulless money and cold career- and not to give up the dreams of and the fight for a better world.
We live in a sick system of expanding poverty and a rich minority's tyranny. We have to share work and wealth/money and nobody would have too much or less. Everybody has to accept the fact that capitalism cant work enduring. It collapses like before WW2- again and again.

As you have seen on news, Ingrid Betancourt has been rescued! Nobody has been killed! Are our goverment justifying their own ends? Noooo. This is one of hundreds reasons why we support our president Alvaro Uribe and we don't like FARC. People out of Colombia who don't know anything about my country, now can learn the reality of our conflict. Peace in Colombia, Peace in the world. I am so proud of being Colombian!
It is terrible that such a thing happenend. She wanted to do something 'good', but now she ended up in hell. FARC isn't a groop who stands up for the people in Colombia, like Necrotante says; a bunch of killers. That's what they are. They're putting pressure on the Colombian people and are just alive to kill. This part of Colombia is really sad. I wish something could change, all this isn't right and whe all should help!!!

Dit is geen arbeidersbeweging, dit is een kleine groep individuen die zegt te handelen uit naam van het volk en ditzelfde volk tegelijkertijd groot leed aandoet, via drugshandel, terreuracties en het grootschalig gebruik van geweld. Een werkelijke arbeidersrevolutie is niet mogelijk te midden van het gewapend conflict waaronder dit land gebukt gaat. Menig marxist zou je dat moeten kunnen uitleggen.

There is democracy in Colombia. There is no need for terrorist groups like the FARC. It's a shame the Colombian reality it's pericieved only by the Internet and the TV. As a Colombian I can only feel sorry for this courageous girl; she got into a war with no means other than keeping a business that kills thousands of Colombians every year. Remember dear readers last thing we need is for you to feel sorry for us.
