The new Opel Astra is also a design statement for the brand. Dynamic as never before, with sheer, taut surfaces, detoxed of superfluous elements and with the new brand face - the Opel Vizor. This shows at first glance that the Astra is ready to define a new era.
A leap in time has taken place in the interior of the new generation Astra. With the fully digital Pure Panel, analogue instruments are consigned to history. Instead, the new human-machine-interface (HMI) with fresh, modern graphics offers customers a pure, more intuitive experience. Passengers can operate the new Astra intuitively via extra-wide touchscreens, just like a smartphone. The Opel designers and engineers have taken great care to ensure that the driver receives all the necessary information and useful operating options, but is not burdened with superfluous data or functions. In addition, key settings such as climate control can still be operated via physical switches and buttons.
Typically Opel is also the outstanding seating comfort of the new compact class model. The front seats, developed in-house, are AGR (“Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.” / “Campaign for Healthy Backs”) certified and, with their exemplary ergonomics, are exceedingly comfortable, especially on long journeys. The driver is supported by state-of-the-art assistance systems ranging from the head-up display to the Intelli-Drive 1.0 assistance system, which integrates many assistance systems up to the Intelli-Vision 360-degree camera.
The new Astra is 4,374 millimetres long and 1,860 mm wide. It is only 4.0 mm longer than the previous model. The wheelbase increased by 13 mm to 2,675 mm. Notwithstanding the muscular, confident stance, the new Astra’s practical boot with adjustable floor still offers the driver and four passengers up to 1,339 litres of luggage volume (Astra Hybrid 1,268 litres) with the rear seats folded down.
The steering and lateral stiffness of the chassis - McPherson strut suspension at the front, torsion bar at the rear - are designed for high yaw control (damping of the movement around the horizontal axis). Under braking, the new model delivers strong stopping power and remains highly stable in curves as well as in a straight line. The torsional rigidity of the new Astra is 14 per cent higher than that of the previous model.
The new Astra has something for everyone in terms of drive alternatives - it is the first Opel model that will soon offer customers the choice between pure electric drive, plug-in hybrid or combustion engine. The power range extends from 81 kW/110 hp to 165 kW/225 hp system output (WLTP1 combined fuel consumption: 5.8-1.0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 131-22 g/km) - so superior driving performance is guaranteed. Opel combines driving fun with top efficiency and environmental consciousness in the latest generation of its compact class bestseller.
And does so at the usual attractive prices: the sporty five-door model is available from €22,465 (all prices RRP incl. VAT in Germany) - not a cent more expensive than the basic version of the predecessor. Numerous state-of-the-art assistance systems such as front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and drowsiness detection are standard equipment in every version. Lively performance is provided by the 81 kW/110 hp 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo direct injection petrol engine with 6-speed manual gearbox (WLTP1 combined fuel consumption: 5.5-5.4 l/100 km, 126-123 g/km CO2).

I have had a Mercedes A-Class AMG Line for the last 3 years, and need something more affordable. I didn’t expect to find a Vauxhall Astra 🇬🇧 with so many features, and great quality. I will definitely be test driving this.

I am wondering about the noise isolation in cabin you mentioned in the video already, but you were driving 80 km per hour while you experienced! So, until 110 km, almost every car on the market even including my soft top Miata, drives quite silence but the real noise starts after 110 km though! For instance, in where i live, the speed limit on the highways is allowed to 152 km per hour. And i usually drive on the highways between 150 to 170 km depending on the situation. My question is, did you experience the noise isolation on the new Astra within high speeds apart from 80 km? This is important because if you didn't do so, this might be misleading! Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you in advance

it has a hill holder (when you release the brake pedal, it holds until you press the gas pedal)... at least I have it on my Peugeot, so I think Astra has it too. and I find it more than sufficient

  • @1sti

    OMG, Opel is dead.☹
I've been waiting years for the new (fully electric) Astra,
but this car has like zero Opel DNA, except for the Manta-ish grill maybe.
The inside is extremely unOpel and just objectively fugly, like some Citroen,
the Peugeot 308 has miles better looking interior, and that's the Corsa's sister model. W.T.F.
Okay, just checked, the middle console is straight up from a Citroen C4.
So sad to see Opel going out like this.

    • @Congobajer
      @Congobajer 2 роки тому

      The sister equivalents are:
      508 - Insignia
      308 - Astra
      208 - Corsa
108 - Adam or maybe the smaller Karl

Opel was dead under GM... for decades, so to say... PSA bought a "dead horse" from GM and now, they at least trying to make decent, modern cars. besides that, even though they use the same mechanics like Peugeot, DS and Citroen, at least they don't look like an egg to an egg... as the vast majority of VW's does to Škoda or Seat, where only lights and grille are different

One can clearly see the influence from the French owners...
All based on the "default" Stellantis platform and design 😵‍💫
