  • From the recording of a concert at Cooper Hall, Frome, Somerset. made on Friday, May 19th 2023, which featured Kamilla Arku, piano, playing pieces by women of colour from the African diaspora.
    On this track, Kamilla plays 'Death Improvising' by Egyptian composer Nahla Mattar, one of her 4 'Egyptian Miniatures'. The performance includes playing the strings of the Steinway grand with her fingers to create a unique and haunting sound.
    Liberian-Norwegian pianist Kamilla Arku draws on her diverse background as inspiration for her work as a performer and educator. She gave her London debut recital at the renowned 'Pianists of the World' series at St. Martin's-in-the-Fields in 2013, and has since performed as a soloist and chamber musician in the UK, Europe and Africa.
