    I remember having a make-your-own-candle kit back in the 90s, but doing it this way is far more fun (and less likely to piss people off when you melt wax in a saucepan!!)... :P
    Makes me think back to those kits where you could make a layered candle, if you did that with scented wax, you could have different flavoured layers, so as the candle burned down, the smell changes... :D

    Great video. You answered my question directly. Other videos use wax beads and I just want to reuse wax that has lost its scent over time instead of throwing it away. Thank you for showing that we can do just that.

    Wow thank you very much. I thought the wax tarts that they sell with the poiseness smells where made of a special material, and I just couldn't find any uncented wax tarts because I wanted to scent them myself with my essential oils. You have shown me that I already have the solution by hand :-) thank u!

    It's best to make with a wax known as ecosoya CB135 Soy Wax known as Q220 now - it's the safest wax and won't burn you. Don't use a old candle from the store as these can contain Parrafin - and no u can't colour your wax melt with candles. You can only colour and scent a wax melt with colour chips or dyes and scents suitable with wax melts.

    Best to the point demonstration I've seen so far. thank you. one question. how many drops of oil to how much wax?

      I can't speak for this presenter, but the standard ratio would be 1 ounce to 1 pound. (Technically it's 3% to 9%, so my suggested ratio works within that.) You can go lighter or somewhat heavier, depending on your nose and the exact oils and waxes. Different waxes have different "throw," which is how much the wax allows the scent to spread. Hope that helps.

    I'm quite jealous of your pound land we don't seem to have it's equivalent here in the states. We have 99 cent stores but there gadget offerings are crap.

    Halloween is not far away, can you do some blood and guts or rotting corps scented candles ????

    • @ethanpoole3443

      Just add rancid fish oil and butyric acid, it will be closed enough to rotten to get the vomit flowing.
      Now why anyone would ever want to do that is beyond me.

    I wonder if you could use the same concept for choclate so get poundland chocolate and then melt flavourings in etc

    • @user-gx6jb6wc5g
      @user-gx6jb6wc5g  8 років тому +2

      +Anthony Craig i think Poundland sometimes does chocolate moulds. You need to use oil based flavourings. You can also make chocolate from scratch very quickly by melting butter and then blending in cocoa and very fine sugar like icing sugar then letting it cool.

      Why are they called essential oils?

    • @user-gx6jb6wc5g
      @user-gx6jb6wc5g  7 років тому +1

      It's a term to indicate that they are pure extracted oils from plants as opposed to chemically synthesised smells.

      +Andrew Jonesy Would it help if I made a fart aroma wax melt?

  • @brocktechnology

    I'm struggling to see the point of this wax melt business. Is this not functionally identical to a scented candle, having the warm inviting flame replaced by a metaphorically cold and uninviting electric element? I'm sure the markup is better on this but what's the consumer's motivation?

    • @user-gx6jb6wc5g
      @user-gx6jb6wc5g  6 років тому

      It puts out a stronger aroma and you can add other aroma liquids to the existing wax.

      I discovered you as a consequence of Cody's little debacle a few weeks ago and have been conducting a random binge watch of your catalog ever sense. This is not the first time I've asked a question on a years old video and gotten a response from the man himself the same evening. To top it off, if I have my math right, it's 3 o'clock in the morning where you live. I'm very impressed with your attention to your audience, thanks for what you do.

      @@brocktechnology Another reason why people like Wax Melts so much, is it's less dangerous than a Candle, such as if the person has kids, or pets that like to jump and climb all over everything, etc...
