Great video and also a great reminder to slow things down.
I have a question from the video clip you showed of the pro game. There was occasionally a few big openings in the middle of the court where I would have taken a low hard ball to the back. I often see it with the pros that they tend to just focus on the corners. Why is it they don’t push more in the openings? Is it to maintain pace?

One insight I think could be mentioned is the fact that lobs are often considered a purely defensive shot, but in padel it is often an aggressive shot and should ideally only be played when in balance and in control. Most people coming from a racquet background tend to view the lob as an "opt out" defensive shot and plays it when they are not prepared to do so.

I loved the lob/chiquita counter! I'd like to see more of that with other topics. Btw high lobs are tricky at indoor courts with low ceilngs. Maybe a fast lob would work on such cases? If so a tutorial would be great. Cheers!

Great Video Sandy! Knowing how to change the rhythm of the game is key. The sample video is a great example. Most people I know like to play aggressive all the time. Which is not a bad tactic, but when you slow the ball down, it becomes a more tactical game and most of them struggle to play that time of game. Your explanation on the return was also very good. Besides, it is easier to do a slow return than trying to win the point from the start.
    Keep it up!

The lob/chiquita counter was wonderful! Point well taken. More like that!

Great video really helpful. I play against a lot of tennis players who hit the ball hard and try pass you or get into a baseline rally. They stay at the back quite a lot so the Chiquita is a good tactic. Would it be better to play the Chiquita and then come to net or stay back and then lob? Thanks

Unfortunately, i tend to make my lobs a bit too short and therefor just giving my opponent a golden opportunity to smash it out of the court. Well - Guess i have to work on that part, as it's just a crucial part of the game.

Great tactical asvice Sandy. So many hard hitting good players have problems with the slow balls and changes of speed in rallies.

I love high lobs, the problem is that the ceilings in the clubs that I play in are not super high (vary in height, some even have weird support beams that can take the ball out of play), which makes it difficult to adjust every time. It's not that it's impossible to hit high lobs, but the chances that you hit the ceiling are increased which makes it more annoying. Do you have any recommendations here Sandy?

What do you do against fast serves that are tightly in the corner? They most likely will die on the back glass and due to the speed I can't seem to just lob it without it going out or hitting the ceiling. Guiding it and try to turn some of the momentum into spin seems to work, but inaccurate

Played for a short while and watched Padel school vids. We play outdoor courts and wet ball’s don’t bounce esp off glass, some serves just die. Some balls claim to be waterproof but they just get soaked the same. Love the game though. Any suggestions please.

afraid playing in wet conditions will always soak the balls, make them heavy and difficult to play with. you will need to factor in the balls being impacted by the wet. what I tend to do is have practice balls and match balls in any given sessions, so if I have say 6 balls, I will only use three when practising and then if I play points at the end I will use the others. hope that helps!

All true, but those do not seem chiquitas to me: they are just slow passing shots, let me say (the kind of shots that they know will be rebounded by the opponets at the net)
