Do you know what all of the class of '92 had in common? Alex Ferguson. Don't get me wrong, they were all talented but no other manager would have managed to turn that many players into top quality players all from the same crop of players.
It helps that United had thin squad depth in the first double winning team allowing them to get the game time the next season. Only Beckham and P Neville had to breakthrough after Kanchelskis was sold and Parker was not featuring. (Obviously SAF still signed quite a few young tallents in their late teens or early 20s Ferdinand, Rooney, Ronaldo, Nani, Hernandez, Anderson, Rafael and Fabio De Silva all these making depth quite strong blocking the way for the club's own youth. Pique woud have made it but left after the champions league win.) LVG gave quite a lot of youth debuts and playing time when he was at United. I think ETH will do the same. We might never see so many from one team break through at once and make it in a long time, but should be a good amount come through under the current manager if he is here for a long spell.
SAF is a legendary manager without a doubt, but the players themselves have to be hungry for it. And that crop is hungry enough and hates losing.
