    Keano's resurrection at Wigan has been miraculous, considering he joined us as a free agent when we were in administration and battling relegation to League 2 he's definitely earned legend status here.

    I was a fan of Pogba and when he came back to Man United, I thought he would led this team to an era of success, sadly it lasted only one season, he played in the darkest era of this club (recently) and now when he's just gone we win a trophy, so bizzare and tragic at the same time.

    Never thought I'd hear my beloved Warrington Town mentioned in one of Alfie's videos. Larnell Cole only joined about 2 weeks ago I think. He's played a couple of games, showing some tidy dribbling and good pace but nothing spectacular. Would've never though he was in this squad!

    Will and Michael Keane are such a funny case of "I wish I could play for England but if not ill represent Ireland"
    When they were both 17, Will was hotly tipped and representing England underage while his twin Michael represented Ireland. Then Michael switched at a certain age.
    Eventually Michael actually made it into the England team. Now Will is representing Ireland and Michael probably would switch if possible because he's not getting an England call up anytime soon.

    I'm gonna put in another request for a hypothetical starting XI for the East African Federation, a proposed federation (big surprise there) of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. None of them are exactly what you'd call powerhouse footballing nations, with the exception of the DRC, but with plenty of players from those nationalities in the French and German leagues there's bound to be some diamonds in the rough. I did actually send Alfie a Twitter DM detailing my own attempt at an EAF first team, complete with a kit design and a subs bench, but since that didn't get a response I can only assume it got lost in the post. It's not like he'd ignore an unsolicited private message about putting together a national football team for a country that doesn't exist, right? Right?
    This is request number 14; calling it a streak feels a little disingenuous considering I miss days a lot of the time due to my health. I intend to go for as long as I can until Alfie either makes the video or tells me to bugger off. I'm sure you have your own opinions about which is more likely. =]

    • @gm2407
      @gm2407 Рік тому +2

      It helps that United had thin squad depth in the first double winning team allowing them to get the game time the next season. Scholes, Butt and G Neville played quite a bit when Blackburn won the league and Giggs had been a regular starter since 1991-92 season. Only Beckham and P Neville had to breakthrough after Kanchelskis was sold and Parker was not featuring.
      I don't think that the club was ever that shallow in squad depth in the 2000s as it was in the 90s. Fletcher, O'Shea, Evans and Cleaverly were the only youth team players not poached from abroad to make it in the post millenium SAF era. That is make it and play lots of games. (Obviously SAF still signed quite a few young tallents in their late teens or early 20s Ferdinand, Rooney, Ronaldo, Nani, Hernandez, Anderson, Rafael and Fabio De Silva all these making depth quite strong blocking the way for the club's own youth. Pique woud have made it but left after the champions league win.)
      LVG gave quite a lot of youth debuts and playing time when he was at United. I think ETH will do the same. We might never see so many from one team break through at once and make it in a long time, but should be a good amount come through under the current manager if he is here for a long spell.

    • @norneaernourn8240
      @norneaernourn8240 Рік тому +1

      SAF is a legendary manager without a doubt, but the players themselves have to be hungry for it. And that crop is hungry enough and hates losing. Talent aside, it's that win-at-all-costs mentality that served them so well. I would argue it's that attitude that made them great players and then talent.

    • @thebiglebrowski3695
      @thebiglebrowski3695 Рік тому +1

      @@norneaernourn8240 What I mean is that no other manager would be able to get that many players, with wildly different personalities, through to the first team set up in a way that they could thrive. Talent is necessary but it has to be cultivated. Fergie was a genius at understanding and working with people so he was able to be tough with the ones who needed that, gentle with the ones who needed that etc etc.
      I'd honestly only say Giggs, Scholes and Beckham had the raw talent to be even close to sure things. Even then Scholes had faults in his game early on that other managers would have given up with and Giggs had a very problematic personality (That did come back to bite him later) but it hardly affected his playing career.
      I think ETH with Garnacho could be an example of him doing something similar with him trying to control the ego of the lad without taking away his edge.

    The lack of mention of Duncan Edwards on this channel is incredible. Would make a great video on its own!

    I think the criticism of lingard is due to his reluctance to play football. By that i mean his lack of ambition to fulfill his potential. he just seems like someone who's happier to come on for his 15 minutes and get paid well for it....
