3:45 In the 90's at Frankfurt Intl airport(Germany) I saw soldiers carrying machine looking guns( I'm not into guns so I'm not sure what they were carrying but it looked similar to a machine gun). So it depends which country you're traveling to also.
Just FYI The government already has you at low and high risk. My dad's friend is high risk even though he is a U.S citizen because he's changed his name and age on his papers and has lied to the government before. Usually every time he goes out of the country, they interrogate him for at least 2 hours. This is more for those who are deemed as a terror risks, like if you are known to the FBI, they will probably interrogate you as well. If your papers look inconsistent or you are traveling outside of the country with a minor that is not a family member you may be deemed low risk, but they will still question you. This is nothing new, they are just now adding video technology to detect lies.
I agree with Adrienne, but it’s possible that those who have a criminal record (drug/human trafficking and other felonies) are considered high risk passengers. Either way, I feel like it paves a way for more racial profiling.

Okay this kind of just happened to me on my first flying experience. I don’t think there was a lie detector or at least I wasn’t aware that there was one - but anyways. I flew from the US to the UK (by myself; first time flying - three connected flights that were super long) and was going to stay with a friend for 6 months or less. I knew for a fact you can stay in the UK for 6 months without a visa so I didn’t bother getting a visa because I knew I would leave before the 6 months were up.. anywho, I also didn’t buy a return ticket BECAUSE at the time it was too expensive and I was going to buy it after my mom sent me money (long story). Anyways, I FINALLY finish flying all three flights and make it to the Manchester airport only to be detained for 7 hours in a tiny room with others who were detained or being brought in. I was told nothing, so I had no idea what was happening. I thought maybe I’m going to jail. Maybe I’m about to die. I know that sounds extra, but it was my first time flying, I was tired, and I was mad nervous and in a new country all by myself. After the 7 hours, I was interviewed, had my fingerprints and photo taken, and was told I could stay for one night but had to leave the next day. They gave me 2 flights from UK to Newark, and I was stranded in Newark. I had to pay $280 out of pocket to get a 30 hour bus drive to my home, on multiple buses.. It was a really scary and bad experience for me, and now I hate traveling which sucks because I want to travel so much. I really hope this lie detector crap is not true, because I’m too much of an anxious person.

Sabrina Valenzuela It was indeed very traumatic and definitely took a toll on both my physical and mental well being.. I was given no reason for being detained, so I honestly still don’t know what exactly happened - but my guess is that because I didn’t have a return ticket, they assumed that I would overstay the 6 months and never leave, as that is a problem with “immigrants” these days or has been a problem for awhile. I also left out minor details that were also traumatic, like having to sleep in the Lisbon airport overnight after being stranded in Newark because they wouldn’t let me pass a gate after midnight. I was told by one person that I would get a hotel and free breakfast, the next person I talked to made me stay in the airport overnight... also not to mention I was not able to eat a proper meal or get any sleep within the whole week of back-to-back traveling due to being detained. It was honestly very terrible and I’m still shaken up about it - this all happened at the end of October.
Nyaziah Lovelace Got my money back! It took me a couple of days but I was able to actually get my money back so I will not be sueing. Had I not gotten my money back, I would have taken legal action.. Thank you for the concern, though!

I didn't have time to make my student visa for South Korea in time; I don't need a visa for 3 month anyway, so I was planning to go to the immigration office after my arrival However, when Air China saw at the airport my return ticket was set for more than 3 month after my arrival, they refused to check my luggage unless I could buy a new ticket as a proof I would leave the territory in less than 3 months, because "they didn't want to be held responsible if I became an illegal immigrant".
