    The "not fitting in their clique" is in game too. Recently brought 15 of my friends to Palia, we were running around , chopping trees and mining , just all the things . A grove spawns, my group and i call it out and wait for folks to show up , then another person calls it out and everybody flocks to them , we wait patiently , still nobody , so we start chopping trees. Get called names , told we "stole " the trees for "everybody who worked so hard to make it happen" Yeah me and my friends ...... there is resource gatekeeping going on . AND the resources take forever to spawn again. I am a solo player , i find corners to do my thing alone as i dont fit in with everybody else . I have warned the players that as soon as its out of beta there are going to be throngs of people coming to play , some very toxic players. I dont think ill be playing anymore , it was a good 6 months , but im over it now , tired of being left out and mistreated in a game.

      There are a HUGE amount of costumes available free in the game when you launch the game. No free pets, though. You must not have played it yet. They were actually very generous with the number of clothing options they give us for free.

      @Violetbunnyfish the clothing options they gave us are sub-par at best. But yeah, there are a decent amount of options. Still, a 50$ outfit is fn ridiculous. 15$ minimum for a new outfit.

    Free to play is no excuse for all the issues of this game. I played other ftp mmo's with much more content. I really like Palia but after playing a while I'm getting bored with all the grind. Collecting hours and hours flow trees for just one piece of furniture isn't enough. For a game with such a high development budget it really should offer more than only 2 maps and 3 huntable animals.
    I'm not active on discord so I didn't know about the community issues. ingame I always thought the community is very friendly.
    I play since open beta and right now I only join when a new update is released. That's ok for a ftp game but it is not enough for spending money for overprized cosmetics.

    • @XoloQueue
      @XoloQueue  5 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, I've always had nice interactions in game (whenever I happen to see people, that is). I was kinda hoping to have more things to collect and gather by this point. 2 maps is pretty small. We're talking PSO2 levels of spaceship small, but at least that game has instances to queue up with people. We need something like that in Palia.

  • @DJFlare84

    I kind-of agree with the notion that if the game is free-to-play, it doesn't really harm the consumer to not divulge that the game is not complete and actually in beta or early access.
    That said, it's still an INCREDIBLY STUPID thing to do because it DOES, in fact, hurt the gamedevs themselves and their game. They are just shooting themselves in the foot!!!

    "Like getting a free bag of chips, only realizing it's a free sample" Nah, more like, getting a free can of energy drink, and no where on the packaging/can does it say anything, except after you consume some, the person handing out the free drink then notifies you that the drink is still in development, and may contain unfinished, untested chemicals and vitamins from "trust me bro" sources. But don't worry, don't complain, because it's free.
    May or may not contain a few bugs and glitches here or there, don't worry about it.

    I have never had a problem with singularity6 or palia. The thing with beta is you have to go to their website or be in discord or have been with the community for a while. I came into this game wanting to be left alone (i dont like multiplayer). I have never seen the issues mentioned in the discord or community. Bugs are an issue because its still in BETA you have to give feed back for them to even fix it. They are still making new content and fixing bugs. I do agree with the cosmetics atea tho

    Sounds like a perfectly normal open beta to me. Only gripe I'd have is the fail of it being mentioned on Steam and Nintendo Switch, but everything else sounds perfectly normal.
    As for the Discord stuff, it's hard to say without any screenshots. I will hold off my judgment on that until I see some evidence.
    Oh yeah and I almost forgot: y'all are trippin' about the skin prices. It's not 50 quid for a skin. It's 50 for a SET of THREE skins, each with their own flair and usually THREE colours each, making it a total of NINE skins. And you don't have to buy the set. If you like just one skin, you can buy it separately. Palia has some of the most affordable skins in the FTP model. Again: y'all be trippin'.

    • @XoloQueue
      @XoloQueue  5 місяців тому +7

      It's not 3 skins. It's 1 skin with 3 variations. The changes aren't different enough to be described as "3 skins" imo. You can't mix and match the pieces into a single outfit price so you're forced to buy the entire bundle to get the exact piece, texture, and color combination you want. Other ftp games would sell this as recolors or chromas, NOT standalone skins. One bundle is 5,100 Palia coins, so it's basically a $50 skin. I would argue that Palia has some of the LEAST affordable skins I've ever seen in a FTP game. What makes it worse, is they are selling these skins at this price, while in open beta. That is crazy. The fact that they still haven't changed the store pages to state that the game is actually in open beta, despite feedback and backlash from the player base is sneaky and erodes player trust.
      I agree with you with the screenshots thing. That being said, I felt it would be a disservice not to include those reviews in the video since there were more than 10 that mentioned issues with the discord. Many of them mentioned messages being deleted by mods. At first, I thought maybe it was just a couple of salty outliers, but over 10? That's a bit concerning. Thanks for your comment. And thanks for watching, btw. :)

      You may argue that they have the most expensive FTP skins, but definitely not, they are in the high range for sure, but i play many FPT games with skins can be between 30-50 and then there are the games you pay for that are 30-50 dollars for skins...

    My steam review.
    If ya want casual lil game similar to diablo 4 where you can just play in a world populated by players with not much but still somewhat nice possibilities to play together mainly thinking about benefits of hunting with friends but even then we have had fun just competing between friends about progress and monetary gain while also just learning whatever roundabout secrets etc we can find and share, i do agree with the opinion of many other players about increasing the multiplayer aspect but even then id likely just want like a community/guild plot/house to build and share resources together in, also finding out early on about easy moneymaking with gems was quite a fun and nice way to ease off the need to grind much.
    But yeah havent bought anything personally but id gladly buy 20 euro outfits to support the game expecially seeing that the quality of them is totally worth it, also ya do get the pets too just buying the credits so seems pretty easy.

    I mean these review bombers are talking about toxic people not game. Trust me as long time MMO player you can ALWAYS find toxic people. I played wow for years moderators were always slow and often didn't give two shits about most the trolls and toxic people if they didn't cross a line like people don't get this there is a line in the sand in MMOs and vets know these lines. Everything you explained and complained about has been out since the first MMO cosmetic item lol. Likerememberr wow cash shop pets people would try to brag about it, and "poor shame" I just ignored them, and moved the hell on with my life lol.
    You don't even want to get me started on MMO bugs there was multiple instances where I couldn't even play a game I paid a SUBCRIPTION for one or more days and had to get sub days added to my account pushing billing date. Which is really annoying. None this is new complaints about MMOs. ESPECIALLY on steam who has some the most toxic players out there, like steam forums are starting to rival COD kids these days for toxicity. especially in reveiws.

      2) The devs are STILL lying about the open beta status of the game on their store fronts.

      Toxicity might sound trivial but the sheer number of reviews that mentioned it was alarming.

    Those who did this are simply rotten!!, they forget that this game is free! I play on a Switch and is it the best at the moment? nooo.. However, Palia is still a fantastic game. Go over and hammer games such as Disney Dramlight Valley which is NOT free, obtained for a heavy fee, far more glitchy than Palai and includes outrageous in-game purchases for "premium items" (which should be included because those supplied with the game are nothing but crap) All of you who felt the need to bash Palia should be congratulated on many people losing their jobs, well done...

    • @XoloQueue
      @XoloQueue  5 місяців тому +3

      "Bashing" Palia, and people getting laid off have absolutely nothing to do with each other. A lot of layoffs are happening throughout the gaming industry (and the entire economy), right now, so it's not exactly unexpected. The game is free. Why would that lead to layoffs if people aren't playing while they're STILL IN DEVELOPMENT? The idea that negative player feedback had led to layoffs is ridiculous and laughable. The devs aren't even listening to the player feedback in the first place.
      Also the game being free doesn't excuse shitty behavior. Stop trying to shield the same people who are actively lying to you and losing player trust. This is player feedback, not "bashing". I'm not going to go and criticize that random Disney game you just mentioned. Why? I don't play the game, and don't want to. This video is about Palia, so saying "but this game over here is worse!" Is completely irrelevant.
      It's amazing to me that people are still out here defending S6 despite the facts. It's ok to like a game, and have criticism. In fact, I would say that some of the reviews probably came from some of the most loyal and dedicated players. Many of them played this game from is very early stages. If we don't speak up now, and express our concerns, we are doing a disservice to literally everyone (including the devs at S6).

    • @Amondra87
      @Amondra87 5 місяців тому +3

      If they are getting laid off becuase of backlash and people no longer playing the game, then in truth that has more to do with the development and how they handled things. It's like Kill The Justice League, or Skull and Bones, those games tanked tremendously because they over promised and did some shit things and some bad choices. Granted people paid up front for those games, but Free to Play doesn't mean you can offer horse shit with gold flakes on it and call it a golden stone and that be okay.
      Also, as many who have play tested games before, the current state of the game isn't where most games are expected to be when in an open beta cycle. Often open beta is used to stress test servers, if it is an multiplayer game, and hammer out any remaining bugs that might be present. Open beta is to make sure the game is as stable as it can be when launched. It's why AAA developers have lost so much love in recent years and why studios like Laraian are industry darlings. BG 3 was insanely stable at launch mostly considering they under guessed how many would be playing at launch.
      People unhappy with S6's behavior and pointing it out, are not to blame. It's S6's shit behavior and poor choices that are.

It is very far from being complete and I am surprised they released this game in this state despite them saying its closed beta, they should have worked on it for a bit longer before " release". the main quest is shallow and quick to complete, leaves a lot to be desired with the added gift of unnecessary burn out.

They refunded the coins but raised the store prices so you couldn't even rebuy your items without spending more money. I am worried something similar will happen when the game, if it does, properly launch. Because despite what they may be saying I don't trust them.

    I wanted to play this game with friends. I love cozy farming Sims and the idea of an open world mmo farming sim was amazing. But after the launch of the open beta i was dissapointed. There is no reason to play together, no incentive to group up and the only things where you can play together is farming materials, the dullest mindnumbing tasks in the game. This game might be free to play but thats because there is not a lot to do in this game and nobody would pay to play this lackluster "farming sim" that limits how much you can farm....

    I wish more people were talking about these things. Because as of S6 censoring, it's just rabid fans defending the game and having people flood steam to leave positive reviews and most of those reviews are one line, or people lying to defend the actual problems with "It's a cozy game and it's free to play"
    Everything about S6 screams shady, and having tested a fair amount of games, from Alpha up and into open beta, this game as it stands is barely beta ready. And it's clear they aren't doing what Larian did which is have a small (though with Larian small was 40 hours) part of the game open so they could focus on some mecianial cores to make sure they are ready to go with launch. They literally just don't have anything. They have plans, but this stuff won't be magically in game at launch. I would bet money on that. More truthfully, I don't see the game leaving beta like Warframe so they can skirt around shit and their "cozy" fans will keep defending them.
    Like I wanted this game to do well, it's something a lot of people wanted, but you can see the AAA game industry stink all over it, and I feel like the simulator crowd and cozy crowd are more easily manipulated into being okay with these red flags than other gamers. Sims players do it too. EA messes up big time and they forget and forgive in like a week, even though the game is still massively broken.

    I still think this game will become what DDLV could only hope to be. I use them to compare because of how terrible DDLV played on the switch, and the fact that DDLV is filled with micro transactions that arent so micro and palia has the costumes. They are both fetch quest heavy and contain many npcs. I like farming better in DDLV but Palia is much more cozy, and if they released another map and add on to the characters it would be even more amazing. I hope the devs change their ways though...

    I was really looking forward to Palia when it got announced. I installed it on the Switch, but it was a blurry mess I just couldn’t look at. Sadly it’s not on PS5, so I sat down on my desk and installed it on PC. Looked better, but my god the first story beats were so shallow. I mean I fell out of the magic portal into a strange world and nobody even cared. Must be so traumatic for my character, I mean … can I ever go home? Do I have a family were I came from? Maybe a pet? Does time go on there? Does someone look after them? … no, nothing. Take that axe and go build a tent.

      3) you ARE home, which is something you ALSO learn very early on. its just human civilization went kaput, with most people on the surface disappearing into the thin air, and the rest (those that were left at the temples specifically) left to perish. purple peeps were born after that.

    Thank you for addressing the toxic moderating problem and though I’m late to watch your video the toxicity continues. You mention discord etc but this also is happening on facebook. I’m a nice person and want to share videos and tell stories using the game Palia so I have no interest in arguing or insulting people in any group I join, yet I’ve been banned from two groups and four messenger groups. 🤷‍♀️the groups not only kicked me out they also banned me making sure I can’t find them again to rejoin. I don’t have multiple accounts and I figured if they act like children I neither want nor need to be in their group. I have found a good group that’s very small right now but it’s uncensored so we can talk openly but players are in shock and are still not opening up. I have been told in a large group I managed to stay in that some of my posts are refused because they go against terms and conditions? So apparently posting a link to a page that shares the positions of the rummage piles every day is wrong but it’s okay if I go and find them and share the positions (because I have nothing better to than do something already done!) i was not allowed even discuss the change of pallium nodes distribution and then the glitch that gave us the green trash cans all over the bay - nope too much posting about that. But they want feedback don’t they? Apparently they only want it if it’s kind and positive. Thank you so much for addressing this very important issue, I really want Palia to succeed, it’s so beautiful and engrossing for me to play but this toxic backdrop in the social pages needs to be discouraged and stamped out. lol at most of these "complaints". I guess people with a negative perspective in life are gonna complain about anything though... even if it is of their own doing through ignorance or self entitlement. The people complaining about the "grind" are the same people that will complain that there's nothing to do. The people complaining about the premium outfits don't appreciate the fact that they paid zero dollars for hours of entertainment and that there is in fact hundreds (thousands if you count colors) of clothing combinations that come with the FREE game. The people complaining about the social aspects of the game are spending more time complaining than redirecting that energy into actually making friends in game and being a part of a fun and engaging community. But hey, if you want to compare everything you experience in your life to what could be better then this is the consequence. Maybe try coming back in a few more months if you can't handle the amount of content and bugs currently in the game. If you're able to manage your expectations and see things other than from a selfish perspective you'll be a much happier person.

      Being a free to play game doesn't give you a free pass to overpromise, and underdeliver. It also doesn't give you a free pass to false advertise on Steam and the Nintendo eShop. This is like saying it's ok if a barista spits in my drink if the drink was "on the house". The only reason why I've been as tolerant of the bugs as I have been is because 1) I want this game to succeed 2)I knew the game is free to play 3)I knew the game was in open beta before I downloaded it and was willing to give it a chance. When the devs promise an mmo experience, and players get mad that they haven't delivered, that's not "ignorance or self-entitlement". That's a breach of TRUST. Player feedback is important. They're not just "complaints". If the devs don't listen, it ruins the experience for many people who would've otherwise enjoyed the game. The game may be free to play, but it's not free to maintain. If the devs aren't willing to listen to player feedback and take it into consideration, this game won't last very long. MMOs are supposed to be long-term.

    • @stevenbrennan2841
      @stevenbrennan2841 5 місяців тому +1

      @@XoloQueueYes, some of the complaints were legitimate reasons to give negative feedback. The mislabeling on Switch and Steam platforms are one of them. I personally think the PC version is mislabeled as "beta" as there has been focus on releasing to more platforms and expansions to the game rather than a focus solely on fixing bugs and making sure their game mechanics are all working properly. I do agree with you that being a free game does not entitle a developer to do something as extreme as the example you laid out. However, some concessions must be given since it is a free game. As you mentioned, it helped you to be more tolerant to the bugs. A lot of the complaints were centered around games that have been around much longer or were not free to play.
      What an MMO is to a person can be subjective as well. It stands for Massively Multiplayer Online, meaning, a player gets to interact with a large number of other players. I'm not sure what others consider "large" but a standard multiplayer game is 2-4 people. Every time you leave your house in Palia you are going into a server with (usually) 24 other people. If you leave that zone and come back to it, chances are that it'll be 24 new people. This is just a limit of current technology and that is what I mean when I say people can be ignorant. Can we have more people in a zone at once? Yes probably, but then people might complain about lag or some other consequence we're not thinking of. I do agree with you that MMOs are supposed to be long term though which will mean there will be some form of grind to artificially inflate play time.
      You brought up a good point about the game not being free to maintain which is probably the biggest danger to releasing an MMO. I don't think devs should have to listen to every suggestion given, especially since a lot of suggestions are made out of laziness. Players love to ruin games for themselves and a good dev will think of ways to try to prevent this. That being said, the large amount of employees needed to run an MMO and server costs can rack up fast so a lot of devs can cave in to some of the more petty requests which can be just as destructive to the lifetime of a game as a greedy dev just milking a game for the cash shop.

      I'm inclined to think that you possibly haven't played enough hours to encounter a game breaking bug. I've had to use the unstuck function when climbing and cooking several times. I couldn't progress in the Temple of the Winds for weeks due to a bug that prevented me from progressing. Just 3 days ago, my screen went black, but I could still see the HUD. Restarting the game didn't help, and I had to go on their bug forums to figure out what to do to fix it. I can't really fault people for not knowing it was open beta, when the devs seemed to want to hide it until you actually open the game. If you watched the Steam or Switch trailers, no where does it say the game is in open beta. It is the responsibility of the devs to communicate this in a way that is not obfuscated to the general public, and they've failed to do that, and still continue to gaslight and omit the information on their store pages. These aren't minor complaints.
