My childhood hero and role model. Got to visit the museum this summer. Best weekend I've had in a while. Have a picture taken standing next to his statue at the museum entrance. Treasured. Obviously very happy I got to visit this place. This was at the top of my bucket list. Peace to all.

Audie Murphy has my profound respect,and always will.Everything he did in the war,he did to protect his fellow soldiers,and then suffered from PTSD for the rest of his too-short life.He had a part in the recognition of what's now known as PTSD and treatment offered to fellow sufferers,and even when he was in trouble financially,wouldn't accept lucrative offers to appear in ads for cigarettes and alcohol because he felt it would be a bad example for young people.An extraordinary human being.

Audie Murphy was the best Billy the Kid that I have ever seen. I have watched "To Hell and Back", his story. I have several copies of this movie. I also have his book. He had a small museum that My husband, myself and two friends visited many years ago. I could NOT believe his Uniform. His medals hung clear to his waist. It was inspiring. Now his Museum now is a large one or so I have been told.
Bigger than life! Give him the Medal of Freedom! He was not only a real war hero but also openly spoke about his mental issues /PTSD.. that is brave and honest and true by all standatds I can imagine..
I have watched his movie at least a dozen times. As humble as he seemed to be Im sure the movie is mild compared to how violent the many campaigns he was involved in. To be recognized as the bravest man in WWII is so amazing considering his age. He must have been very kind in his personal life after the war. Some of the actors were friends in his real life. From my early childhood I have always truly adored, admired, respected, loved and honoured Audie Leon Murphy as a very young child back in the early 1950's.... That's when my Daddy and Grandpa told me all about Audie and he has remained my big hero next to my Daddy and Grandpa.... A real life true hero who stated the boys who died over there were the real hero's, Audie himself hated being called a hero.... An extremely humble man all his life, a real true patriot to his country, he felt it was an honour and a privilege to serve his country along the side of the other boys.... Audie was a truly blessed man to come home by the grace of God above.... I have learned everything that I could about this little Texan whom still stands as a giant of a man among all others.... Coming from an extremely humble back ground Audie did all he could to help his family from a very tender age and continued doing so after his beloved Mom passed, the Army was the next step in the direction that was to lead him on to greater things... Audie became a best selling author, a great little actor, the best western actor, also acted in other movies and show as well.... I never got to meet Audie, but I grew up knowing his sister and her two boy's. His sister now I believe is in her early 90"s now and is still alive, she lives about a mile from me. I have not seen her boy's Audie's nephews in years. It's something he went through that WWII war as a hero and ended up dying in a plane crash in his 40's.
