Tried this today complete with bucket and Ryobi tools! On the roof and needed to hoist tools up and down, must say it worked brilliantly. Love the practicality of your site. I don't get why it works but this knot does and it can handle a fair amount of weight. Love learning something that can actually help me get jobs done quicker.

Great to hear! Yeah, this one is definitely practical for lowering tools and stuff down. 👍

Brilliant, this is quickly becoming my "go to" knot channel. The trouble with most knot sites is they do not show where the knots can be used, if you don't use the knots you soon forget them. I'm going through your entire catalogue of knots to address 2 situations that I haven't found satisfactory answers for. One is keeping the legs of an A-frame ladder together so that when I hang it on the wall the legs don't come apart, I can tie a slip knot around the legs but I'd prefer some sort of shackle like the one you demonstrate here. The other situation is keeping a gate door open, the metal gate door opens and I want it to rest against a metal slatted fence, tried taut lines and other knots but again some sort of soft shackle would be best for speed and ease to hold the gate open.

Thanks, I appreciate the support and ideas for future knot solutions. You're right, knots are easy to forget and must be practiced so you can draw upon them when you really need it. Soft Shackles are great but you need to think about how they can be applied for a given situation, and if it will work.

Does rope diameter important for this knote?

No, it's just important for the Buckle and tail to be around something for it to work.
