Yeah, I would see this rule more like a way to prevent waiting line for the restroom just before the take off ! But like a rule you can secretly bypass if you ask politely you know ? No, I'm not white. Where I live in Europe people actually get discriminated when applying for a job for not being white. They don't say it to your face, but many studies since the 1970s have shown that if you call an employment agency and tell them to only find white candidates, 75% is willing to do that. And the government still doesn't care.

I mean, they say it before the plane takes off, but I see people do it all the time in flights, we’ve never returned to the gate or made an emergency landing
I’ve been in this exact same position so many times. Thankfully never had cabin crew react so idiotically to me before. What happened to this man is a disgrace. Delta best have refunded + offered him free business class flights for a year + offered him elite status moving forward. So ridiculous and embarrassing.
As someone training to be a pilot, I understand how important it is for passengers to be comfortable. "Safety" is no excuse: the flight attendents just tell the pilot to not take off yet, as the cabin is not secure. The PR disaster that can happen from refusing access to the restrooms is so much worse than any delays that may be caused by restroom usage.
Opal Wolf He went multiple times before the seat belt sign came on. If he was having a problem with his bladder that he couldn't hold it for the time frame that the seat belt light was on, he shouldn't have been flying.
Adults should be potty trained and go to the restroom before boarding the flight. First it is illegal to get up during taxing, which he admitted he did, because that causes planes to return to the gate. Second, even if it was not illegal, he refused to follow the flight attendant's instructions. That was illegal too. No one wants a passenger on a plane if they refuse to follow instructions.
This is deplorable. The plane wasn’t even taking off! It was still on the damn ground. What is he supposed to do? Wet himself? Why not wait for 1 minute while he uses the restroom? He seems like such a kind person. I’m sorry he had to go through that. Airlines have lost their damn minds lately.
Not only that but, had the plane not been delayed ( airplanes fault ) the flight would have taken off and he would have been able to use the bathroom. It's the airlines fault entirely.
Kristina Blocher well, if on the tarmac, the bathroom just empties onto the tarmac. In the air, it is flushed down into the atmosphere. He needed to leave the plane to use the toilet. It is HIS responsibility to empty his bladder BEFORE boarding. Think! Think of OTHER circumstances that you do that. The airline was right. I hate to say.
When I flew from Atlanta to California from California the flight attendants STOLE OVER 2500 worth of merchandise the airline sent me 1 lol cheap 150.00 check
Hari The Rock true and how do u crash if your just sitting there u would be a terrible pilot to crash the plane while it’s sitting on the ground not moving

Why would anyone kick off one guy 4 breathing in delta airlines? Everyone needs 2 breath , they can't hold on their breaths 4 longer than 1 minutes. I mean that's extremely irrational to make a rule like that.
Very recently I was flying out out of San Diego. We started pushback from the gate, and the old guy got up from his seat. The attendant told him to return to his seat and he said he had to go. The attendant asked him if he could hold it and the man said no and brushed past him. We were delayed. Anytime I fly, I make sure I don't drink anything one hour prior to boarding and make sure I visit the airport bathroom before we board. That simple.
Dude, I was thinking the same thing, but I don't see the reason why this guy had to be humiliated. They treated him like a threat. Even after the fact, they're not budging. "He broke the law. End of story." Geez.
iceskater girl But then everybody would get up and there would be a long line of people waiting to go to the bathroom, which would further delay the flight...LOL!
I used to watch this and think they were unreasonable to kick him off but after I worked for the airport I completely understand why. When they give you instructions/rules it is not optional! If you can’t follow the rules when flying…don’t fly.

but if your bladder is full and you can't hold it, but you try anyways, you could ruin your kidneys. Your kidneys could be ruined just because an airline kept on their seatbelt signal for 30 minutes, then didn't take off, but you held it in. What's worse is that they're kicking him off the plane for doing that, yet they had to wait 30 mins before actually taking off. Had takeoff been done at its actual time, this problem would've never existed. Simply letting the man pee would also resolve the situation.

This is an incredible, well spoken, and EXTREMELY polite individual. I understand the airlines sticking to FAA regulations, they don't make up the rules.
But this guy still didn't deserve that.
They also don’t follow the rules all the time. They should’ve told people to use the restroom after they were delayed for 30 minutes before takeoff. They really did not need to kick him off that plane.
@@allimoo-249 The only problem with that is that it was delayed after it left the gate. I myself have a bladder issue. I can't drink anything before flying because I'll probably have to go before the seatbelt sign turns off. If something like this happened on a flight I was on, I wouldn't be able to hold it.

Especially since the flight was delayed, they should have allowed him to use the restroom. If they don't and this man loses bladder control, the flight will be delayed even more, exposes others to urine contamination. This very respectful man will be humiliated, all on board will be embarrased for him and awkward, perhaps even intimidated by the over-aggressive flight attendant(s)... a perfect example of failing the spirit of the law even while keeping the letter of it.
As a flight attendant for another airline this is ridiculous. I would never allow him to be treated that way if I was working the flight. If you have to use the restroom then very simple… use it.

Yeah, I would see this rule more like a way to prevent waiting line for the restroom just before the take off !
But like a rule you can secretly bypass if you ask politely you know ?
