I think it appropriate the King, Queen, and Prince wore their Order of the Thistle robes. They don't put Scotland's crown on the Monarchs head because it is very brittle and fragile. The crown is hundreds of years older than the England/Welsh crown. The Welsh/English crown is quite a modern make by most European crown standards.
