I think it’s funny when I always watch the SC/KY prediction videos every year.. the Kentucky prognosticators always say they are going to whip Carolina’s ass. Y’all are not Georgia or Bama. SC fan here. Sellers is very fresh right now and might not be prepared to make this a close game. Our D line is nice, and sellers can run, .....and he won't be that bad passing all year, but KY jelly should win by 7-10 points. That said, there is a lot of talent and potential on the gamecocks, they are just really inexperienced.

The importance of the game is being overstated.
This is the playoff era, not the BCS or poll-driven mythical national champion era. What is important is how you finish.
I am sure that if you asked the UK team if they will trade a loss against S. Carolina for wins at Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas, they would gladly accept the deal.
Hopefully people only do this because it is fun and it gets clicks/views.
Fun aside, rivalries are becoming increasingly irrelevant. Getting to the playoff however you can, not getting revenge in a supposed rivalry, is what matters. This is 2024, not 1974.
If you count the regular season, conference championships and playoff, the road to the national championship is 16 or 17 games now. One game the 2nd week of September against an unranked opponent is not that significant in the big picture.
People need to join the 21st century.
All of that sounds good but if you lose, there’s no need to worry about Tennessee, Ole Miss or Texas. They are losing to all of those teams barring significant injuries

NCAA FBS Power 4 conference football is not quite the NFL yet, but it is close. It is a marathon, not a sprint. If you do the math, the eventual champion of the 12-team playoff will have played either 16 or 17 games.
I think that the days of an Alabama or Ohio State dominating their conference are gone.
Surviving an SEC schedule relatively unscathed is going to be difficult.
It may be S. Carolina who you lose to and Tennessee who you beat. Or it may be S. Carolina who you beat and Tennessee who you lose to.
In the minds of the media and fans a team's entire season may hinge on one game. But in the real world it is a 12 to 17-game marathon, not a Week 2 sprint.
Things will get sorted out as the season progresses. Kentucky will probably upset somebody and end that team's playoff chances.
This season is new territory for everybody. We will see if people are still saying that a Week 2 game is a "must win" next season.
