I grew up with IQ, Marillion , Twelfth night and Pendragon. I must have seen IQ over a dozen times, the majority at the old Marquee club in London in the 1980’s. I am so pleased you are discovering them, they are a very special neo-prog band and were exceptional live. I strongly recommend listening to sleepless incidental from their album Subterranea.
Love IQ! First discovered them a couple of years ago, when they were suggested on Spotify. The song was Ocean and after that song I had to listen to the whole Road of Bones album. I was hooked right away... an amazing album from an unIQe band!❤️
I just discovered your channel. Your reaction to Frequency was as mine. Discovered this awsome band a month ago. Find this music has been like a miracle. The sounds of this band has touched my heart. I grew up on Genesis and thought there was no other band with this sound. I would like to make a song reaction request. It's from Frequency and the song is Closer. Wonderful piece of music. Production, musicianship, performance the lyrics for me are tops. Thanks and you both take care.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ;-) AT LAST you try IQ! It's a group from England, they made lots of AWESOME albums such as Ever, Subterranea, Dark matter, Frequency, Seventh house, The road of bones... in fact all their albums are awesome. High level of prog rock music, guitars and keys melted perfectly accompanied by Peter Nicholls particular voice and lyrics. IQ are the melting of Genesis, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin kind of thing. So they never missed. I'm longing to buy their new album coming this year.
This is awesome. I've never heard anything from IQ before but I've already decided to dig into their catalogue since this song is wonderful and the arrangement is pure bliss. Thanks Kel-n-Rich and all my fellow subscribers.
Absolutely spot on you two musical adventurers! I've listened to frequency ton's of times & still get chill's& hair standing on back of neck moment's! Kudos to you both for your exciting & positive reaction!
Well this is a new band to me, so it looks like I need to investigate further and get hold of some albums! Loved this track and the reactions. Keep up the great videos...
It's great to see and hear your reaction it helps me relive all over the first time I experienced IQ. Been listening to prog since the 70s. Thanks for rejuvenating me. Keep up the good work.
Massive IQ fan here :). The best bit at 11.07 sends shivers down my spine. Dans le Parc Du Chateau Noir is another unbelievable track from the 1980's, but really, I recommend...(almost) everything. Start with 'The Lens' c. 79-80 up to the latest album (but not the 1989 album which was probably the result of being forced to record at gun point!). For me The Wake from 1985 was a high point, but Frequency album is my favourite. IQ are a true album band and I think quite original. The earliest picture of Radiohead has a poster for The Wake tour of 1985 in the background. I know I'm not the only one to hear IQ in OK Computer. Coincidence? Me thinks not!
Loved your IQ pick and reaction! Do some more of the other Neo Prog Bands like Pendragon, Jadis or Pallas. Because someone mentioned Jadis (but his comment seems missing now)… I liked Jadis from the start till today, especially their early albums around 92-94. There’s so much emotion in their music! The missing credit for the band makes me sad and Gary Chandler seems to be kind of the band's solo entertainer. He should have some more help. I often saw him as lone support on or behind the Pendragon stage. One is for sure - Rich would love Jadis as well! You can pick one of these: The beginning and the end, Holding your breath, Sleepwalk, Touch, The world on your side. All absolutely brilliant!
IQ - Subterranea is my favorite album by them. I must have listened to it dozends of times in my youth (and it is a double album). Thanks to you for listen to this and I love your reactions since they are always heartwarming. Unfortunally I can't keep up with all your videos, so I don't know if you did a song from the band Threshold by now, if not I do recommend them for a future reaction video. The songs I would recommend are "Staring At The Sun" from 2012, "Lovelorn" from 1998 or "Clear" from 1997 but they have pretty much a complete flawless discography like IQ. Thanks again for your fantastic reaction channel. It really stands out!
Hi Kel and Rich! Love you guys! Neo-Prog is awesome. If I may, another great IQ song to check out is called "Outer Limits!" It's from their second album The Wake (1985). Keep rockin' 🤗
The album The Wake is a definite masterpiece to me , and i'm crazy for the intro of Outer Limits, which is the intro to the album . Great song , i really LOVE that 1st track Outer Limits... though it might not sound as "modern" as a Frequency sound ... ;)
@@nikolajpinoteau3126 Sorry I'm only replying to this now but it's so true! That intro of "Outer Limits" is so cool!! Martin's lush keyboards and the time signatures make it awesome. I was thinking about covering that song with my band! If you'd like, you can find us on Instagram @lucidaeofficial!
That takes me back! This track was my introduction to IQ, first heard it via the ‘prog rocks’ compilation album. Blows me away just as much now as it did back then!🤘🔥
I first came across IQ in the early Nineties and have adored them ever since. They deserve much more acclaim than they're getting, and I'm always happy when someone else discovers their genius.
IQ started had great Genesis influences in their early days, but they are very much their own thing now. And they're still going strong. Glad to see you discovering them at last. You have SO MUCH pleasure ahead of you as you discover this band.

Well it looks like you’ve introduced IQ to quite a few peeps. Yay!! IQ made about seven albums that were consistently phenomenal, like every track!! They don’t get the attention they deserve!
Hello, there is a song by a band called IQ (I don't know if it will be the same) from the '80s, called "Promises" is like Rock Pop from those times and the theme is Incredible, it's a classic too, greetings from Chile
I might have mentioned IQ in the past probably recommending to check out the title track The Road Of Bones. The Frequency album is actually one of their lighter albums and a pretty good place to start. In a similar vein is their Ever album of which I can thoroughly recommend the album closer Leap Of Faith / Came Down (2 songs that just have to be played together as the first segues into the other).
The album Ever is a masterpiece to me , probably my favorite along with Subterranea , The Wake , and now The Road of Bones, but i love them ALL , sincerely, even with Paul Menel .
IQ are awesome, have seen them live twice. The Road of Bones is my favorite, pick any song from there, I’m sure you’ll love it too. Keep it up guys! Love from CO 🏔
This is the sort of pick that puts you ahead of other reaction channels. Neo prog has so many choices. Most modern would be airbag and gazpacho from Norway and the Brits cosmograf alongside the old guard of marillion., arena pendragon or Iq

IQ Check out the Road of Bones album. Absolutely brilliant. John Jowitt had been with them 19 years but left to go back to Arena (Pendragon's Clive Nolan plays keys for Arena). BTW IQ now has 4 out of the 5 originals back in the band.Only keyboard Martin Orford (who left after 26 years)is missing. Martin co-wrote some of the songs on this album and played some keyboards but wasn't credited although the band do acknowledge his contribution. Check out Martin's solo CD The Old Road which was his farewell to music as he sold all his instruments after it. Martin and Jowitt also played in Jadis. Martin also played on John Wetton's albums and tours. British prog is a bit incestuous lol!
You haven't heard the best of IQ unless you listen to "Further Away" from the EVER album ... or pretty much anything on that album. IQ missed Martin Orford so very much, the replacements cannot write keyboard runs like he does. Sorry, fans, he's just a light year better. IQ has been my favorite band since I first heard them about twenty-five years ago. Was fortunate enough to see them live at Baja Progfest - one of the very top highlights of my concert going career!
