is this worth buying if I only plan to keep it in fighter mode and display it that way...I have 3 of the 1/72 scale hasegawa model kits of this (although you do get the 3 different heads so you can build it as an A or J or S).should I just stick with them and save my money?....also got a call from the store yesterday that my hasegawa 1/72 VF-1D arrived for me.. picking it up 2mrw. ..
You just saw that too? That does look pretty sweet. I've always wanted an official Jetfire version. I've seen customs of the old 1/48 Yamato that turned out really well. I put down a deposit at BBTS for the Kitz Concept one.
Just got this in and it rocks. There was a scratch on the back fin which I managed to mostly polish out. I have some fitting issues behind the cockpit in fighter mode, but that may go away with more transformations. The cockpit on mine is nice and tight so that may vary with each one. My biggest complaint is having to remove the noise for the lighting effects. Also there are some spots between the back fins where the panel line wash was not cleaned properly. I also decided to clear coat and panel line the missle pods for extra details. Overall, considering the detail for its size and apparent durability, it is definitely worth the price. This is my first Veritech an I am so happy with it. Hope my 2 bits helps.
I've wanted a transformable VF 1 since 86 and can't afford the other versions. Just got this one from Big Bad. Hope I don't break it. Also think I'll modify a MG Gundam base with some plaplate for it.
I love the detail on this, especially the panel-lining and the light-up gimmicks. It even has some detail that is not on the DX VF-1J or the Yamato/Arcadia VF-1s like the detail on the hatch behind the hands in fighter mode and the cross hatch pattern on the flap below the backpack in Battloid mode. The gunpod hanging too low in fighter mode is unfortunate and since this is a tv version, it does not have the clear piece that sits above the console in fighter/guardian mode. I think they still could have added that at this scale. Only the DX VF-1J has got that right. The thrusters look odd too. They don't taper at the end like in other versions in fighter mode. Even the side covers have that gap near the chest plate, and correct me if I'm wrong, but these side covers are for DYRL-style Valks; the tv Valks had different-looking side covers like the ones that came with the Yamato 1/48 GBP armor and the new DX VF-1J. KITZ CONCEPT's execution leaves a lot to be desired. I would not pay $100 for this. They should just stick to character figures to supply a demand for what was being done by CM's but they only put out 4 series and those were not poseable. There are other companies offering Valkyries that put this one to shame. I guess since it has the Robotech name and they are approved by Harmony Gold, they can release them here so that's their edge. If this goes on clearance, I might get it.
Not bad at all. I don't even like displaying in full guardian. Half guardian, sure. So those arms wouldn't be an issue for me. I am all over this when they release a 1J. Great review, as always.
Your videos are great, man - please keep going. The part about scale comparison is the most useful, and I wish you'd take a little more time with it. Also if there were another reference to compare it with, such as a standard GI Joe action figure or something like that, it could be a way to refine your approach to how the toys are scaled. Looking at the different models side by side by side is very helpful. Thank you!
I was thinking about getting this because of it's price, but I might wait for them to come out with a different version of the VF-1. Thanks for the review on it.
KitzConcept has said that the factory changed the batteries required for the nose from 3 to 2, however the instructions were not changed. So the brightness you get is what you're supposed to have.
@@ScorchedEarthToys yeah the change was made at the factory after the instructions were already printed. They resized the battery compartment a little and adjusted the electronics to accommodate 2 batteries. I don't know the reasoning, but there you have it.
Nice review. To be honest Guardian mode I don't consider it flawed, that mode has limitations, even in the movie they explain it. I have one on my desk and later they will send me the armor, can't wait to see him with all the blue armor on top.
Great video. is there a rick hunter version with the lights and the same incredible detail ? and or which is the latest and best ricks hunters one I would appreciate the guidance thank you in advance ✌️
What's up with three batteries when there is no space inside anyways. Just got this a while ago and your videos helped a lot. Thank you. Sadly my skeleton right hand thumb broke during shipment ;(
Ok Kitzconcept rocks!! they are sending me replacement free of cost, battery it takes two the instructions are old and the whole lose front cockpit / canopy sliding issue is fixed in second version I got!!
The problems you mention could frustrate someone who wants the toy to be easier to handle. More stiff at certain points, and less at others. Of all the problems mention the leg not pegging properly during Guardian mode is what keeps me from buying it right now. I hope there is a second batch very soon, because despite of the faults it still looking very cool including the pilot, who is more detailed on the crude (comparitively) version of the yamato. Also I'm wondering if It's just your model that cannot fit the third battery (perhaps you were very unlucky and got a faulty one?) in the nose cone and it is not a general problem with this first batch. What do you think? Also when you learn about the next batch could you give us a heads up? I would really appreciate it.
I can't say for sure but I know that they have been listening to feedback so I don't think it's unrealistic to hope they incorporate some minor tweaks as they move forward.
Yes, they did make most of the improvements recommended here. (: Check out the video from ScorchedEarthToys. KitzConcept 1/72 scale VF-1J "Rick Hunter" should still be on preorder, check the BBTS link in comments.
Assuming both toys were available at retail (good luck finding an HMR VF-1S at retail right now), I would go with the HMR. That said, KC is doing a reissue in April and if they address the fit issues then I will probably change my answer.
I'm so glad no VF-1 toys try to look like that ugly, inaccurate line art front view. The animators must've realized that this line art is b.s. too because in all the good episodes, the battroid is drawn consistent to what the proportions would be when transformed from fighter mode.

Even at 3 years old, this is a very comprehensive review! Bravo!
It's the reason that I will likely be buying the new Jetfire custom figure.

Seems like its got as many negatives as positives. Great review. I'm still not convinced i want to start going for kitzconcepts.
This arrived from Big Bad last week for a hundred bucks , I thought it was A steal considering everything you get. Thanks for the vid.
just leave it in fighter mode....everyone is a winner
Not bad. But my love still for YamArcadia V2. Even now, after handling my DX VF-1J
Looks pretty good, but I'm going to wait and see if they make a DYRL Hikaru scheme for him. Would mainly get to use as a Jetfire
awesome , great review , if they are planning to made a v2 , i will buy it , other than that , they do a great detail job!!!

from what I heard there are "j" and "a" variants on the way.

So we get an extra battery then so I guess that's cool. It's certainly bright enough in a dim room.

Bandai released a DX VF-1J Hikaru Ichijo at the end of December. It's the biggest and best.
@@ScorchedEarthToys Agreed but it is very hard to find at a decent price :(
Great review thank you! Do you know if the 2020 restock will have those issues fixed? I really want it
can any one tell me what is the best transformable toy version of the valkerie/veritech

Amazing review. Couldn’t ask for a better one. Have you been able to ascertain if the Rick Hunter VF-1J would be similar or improved to this version?

I’ll stick with Arcadia and Bandai, cool review tho as always!
Anyone have problems with getting the intake (legs) to lay flush with the main body in fighter mode?
Details is great on this toy, but functionality needs work.... I would prefer a 1/60 scale
wow.. so beautiful...
Now this is the one I really want to have.
"Incredibly excessive" - really nice review but man, tough customer lol
Would you take this over the Hi Metal R?

Too pricey for all the flaws
Todos copia de Yamato y arcadia..igual que los Bandai

Fuck off kid

they litteraly stole yamato's engineering
It's a mash of Yamato 1/60 V2 and Bandai HMR. They're tweaking the mold to include elements of the Bandai DX toy.
Your intro music is horrible
