You helped me build my e4 repertoire! I was trying to build an aggressive e4 repetoire (in e4 e5 I play aggressive italian with nakhmanson gambit against two knights and deutz gambit against giuocco piano, against french I play the milner - barry gambit, and against caro kann I play fantasy variation) but I had no aggressive weapon against sicilian. Then I saw your videos about the smith morra and now I have a complete e4 repertoire! I also got marc esserman's book on it "Mayhem in the morra".
Glad to hear it helped!
Might be my favourite chess content creator! I rarely face the Sicilian at 1600 Rapid on lichess but when I do, it's always a wild ride thanks to the Smith Morra
🙏🙏
I noticed that if one integrates this line as the main line against 7. ...Nf6, the whole Bg4 line that is linked on lichess becomes obsolete. In the Bg4 line we played 8. Bf4 (thus allowing Bg4), but here we play 8. Nd5. If NOW still Bg4, then 8. Nd5 Bg4 9. Qb3 is great and gives more than +2 ! Thats a great way to narrow the repertoire and blacks choices!
Thanks for pointing that out!
Hey molton, great video, I have a question tho, there is an annoying line against the morra, 1.e4 c5 2. D4 cxd4 3.c3 dxc3 4. Nxc3 Nc6 5. Nf3 e6 6.Bc4 Nge7 7.Bg5 h6 8. Nb5 d5 and after you go through the variation it reaches an endgame where black has the two bishops. What do you reccomned to do against it?
Yeah the endgame there doesn't look pleasant for White. Perhaps play something different and keep queens on instead. What about 7.0-0 Ng6 8.Nb5 d6 9.Bg5 when Black has to find the awkward looking Qd7!? Or I quite like 7.h4!? with the idea of meeting ...Ng6 with h5 giving a quite unbalanced game.
@@MoltonChess Thank you!
this line is insane!! Thank you so much, I am at minute 3 and already fully in love with it :D Do you think it is playable
Yeah it's fine to play. I think the best line for Black which I didn't get to mention is declining the Knight with 9...Nd7 (Hard move to find) but checking it with Leela engine it is still fine for White after Nf4 or Bg5 f6 then Bh4 and perhaps going for the sacrifice anyways.
@@MoltonChess Thanks!
Excellent!🔥🔥
🙏
I play the Smith-Morra a lot and definitely fancy giving this a go!
👍
Thank you for the new material
You're Welcome
When you first played for your master title how did you know you were ready
@@davidharrison5626 Well both my first IM and GM norms I got accidentally without any intention of doing so. So I knew if I could do it once I could replicate that again. In terms of Big Open Tournaments I felt comfortable once I was able to score some points against Titled players such as FM's and IM's etc. even if it was only here and there. At least I knew I could be competitive and just had to work on building consistency
Thank you for helping me solving this issue so I'll follow your advice and approach and give it my best effort and live with the results and try again until I reach my goal..
Thank you, I like this line!
Glad you liked it!
I have been playing 8.Bf4 here, as Bg4 lines are ok after h3 and if e6, it usually transposes to Qc7 lines. 8.Nd5 e6 9.Re1 Nd7! And fun is over even though the moves are impropable
Yes 8.Bf4 is what I recommended in my main Smith Morra Repertoire. This was a just a fun alternative
I put this into my personal Smith Morra opening book
👍
thank you
You're welcome
What computer do you use for analysis?
Usually Leela or latest Stockfish
@@MoltonChess Okay thanks 🙏
When did you realize you were strong enough to play in the open section 🤔
Which Open Section are you referring to?
