“People that are happy or confident in themselves don’t spend their time making fun of others.” This! This! This! I think I was mostly made fun of for my glasses. I legit have awful vision, so my lenses were really thick back then too! Now I have contacts and typically prefer to wear those.

Straight facts! People hated my accent (Caribbean), my big feet, big hands, the way I dressed, people called me “gay” all the time and now it’s the complete opposite.
My kids go to a predominantly Caucasian school and my oldest is dealing with this now at 10 years old. She has dreads like me but they pick on her for her hair, the way she dress, etc but I talk to my kids daily and let them know just how beautiful they are. I booked her a photo shoot, dressed her up in a ball gown, added some color to her hair, she was feeling herself. Her confidence has gone up tremendously. I wanted her to see what I see. Kids can be cruel and most times it stems from the home. We need more representation so that these young beautiful black girls don’t feel inferior or that they should change their appearance to fit in. Let’s stop the madness!

  • @naturalginga

PREACH! Representation matters, the features that are desired today were the same features I was bullied for. For example, having big lips or my hair. hm its triggering to think about.
I grew up in England and so, my school was predominantly white. The racism here was very much subtle remarks to degrade Black people. It made me who I am, but I know for sure if I saw Black girls represented in media growing up would have helped me navigate myself.

Amber, you are literally amazing🤩. Such a beautiful person both inside and out 🥰. I was never bullied, but I did have insecurities. When I got older I realized that people pay good money for the things God gave me naturally 🤣. This video is a good reminder that things change and get better. Our young ppl have to remember that it hurts now, but it won't forever. I also love how instead of returning negative energy and tearing them down, you tried to make them think about what they were doing. I didn't take the high road the 2 times I remember someone picking on me 👊🏾💁🏾‍♀️🤣. Loved this video 💞💞

Another great video. Growing up I was tormented for my dark chocolate skin and now it’s what I’m admired for. Also, representation is a big reason why I started following you. I never someone like me discuss the topics you did and I loved your interviews of your friends. Especially the top surgery one. It made me mindful of the bias I had and how uninformed I was about subject. Honestly if it was anyone other than you, I would have skipped past the video. Thank you so much for all you do I wouldn’t be the person I am without you.

I got teased for having freckles because it's not that common with black people. But now people compliment me on them more than enough. I was teased for being short and having long legs. I'm 5'3" and both of my parents are 5'11" which is why I have them. But when I got older and I started wearing heels and wedges with shorts......OMG!!! I started gettin compliments

Im 17 before the pandemic I was always bullied for my 4c hair even though my school is 90% black
I'm a lot more confident in my hair and myself even though I still get ppl telling me to just perm my hair because it's ugly and nappy

Got made fun of for my big eyes too! Told I looked like an owl, hooted at, told I look strange, dopey... this one group of girls used to talk about my hair all the time which was long, straight and blonde, but they'd point it out like it was weird.
You look beautiful in all your younger pictures Amber. Even if you didn't, it wouldn't matter because you'd still be you.

My butt - I'm a bit older and before Beyonce and JLo, big butts werent as cool. I'm white passing and no one knew I was different until I turned around. Even adults would say things when I was as young as 12 and even today I feel self conscious about the comments people make.
Thank you for your video, it's nice to be reminded to embrace our uniqueness

These freckles, these curls & my curvy body that decided to start blooming in 2nd grade 🙄 being 6th grade with a high schoolers body. 🤦🏽‍♀️ everything but the last part I grew to love. IG had those freckles filters a while back & everyone kept bringing up how lucky I am to have them naturally. Obviously I laughed n brought this subject up. My dad always, ALWAYS told me people hate themselves so they don’t want you to love yourself either… never told me a lie yet & im in my 30’s. Thank God for my fabulous genes & for making me a beautiful kid of black, Hispanic & white ❤

💕 I used to feel like I had horrible skin. The pimples were on another level during middle school. NOW I regularly get compliments about my skin. And people often ask for advice that I don’t have since we all have different types of skin but I’m glad I realized at some point that “ it gets better “ and it really doesn’t matter what they think! Great video amber!

People use to talk about my forehead. Come to find out that the same guys that talked about me in school wanted to date me or get with me. Didn’t have time for them then and still don’t now. I never let it run my life or the type of person I was because I figured if they talked about Jesus and he was that great I could handle that too being I’m a child of God. If it doesn’t kill you it makes you stronger and words never bothered me. I love myself too much!❤️🥰 Always love God and yourself and you will never go wrong.

I can really really relate because when I was younger I was bullied for my eye color, teeth looks but mostly eye color because then I was totally different from my families and every other person.
Funny part of it is that I was tagged “possessed “ (demonic) and my mum took me to church for prayers and deliverance 😂. But look at the world now!, eye contact is the order of the day and I get complimented a lot for my eye color, so I rock my cat eyes with pride!!🥰❤️✌️

I can palm a mens bball. I have large hands and feet for my slender 5' 8 1/4" frame. Have been called a man/sir. Have always noticed my androgynous features but was terribly unhappy about it(not "woman enough").
7th grade in the library, I'll always remeber a male friend telling me that yeah my hands are large, but they're pretty.
I didn't cherish my hands until I started doing energy work/massage. My healing hands are one my greatest gifts, and clients had no hesitation making that known lol.
I'm still working on accepting and loving myself, and this video and Ambers channel has been so helpful to me😌 (have been binge watching for a few wks now).

My 4c hair has always been my insecurity. Until HS I hated every hairstyle, such as the bob. Although I don't remember being bullied for it, I watched other black girls get bullied. Unless they had straight long hair or loose curls, they'd get called baldheaded or nappy. Then I got long braids and everyone LOVED it. But the second I took them out it was "bad hair day?" or asking when I'm getting my hair done. Now I love my locs but I'll still worry about length until they're down my back.

I grew up in the 80’s and was in high school. All of my caucasian boyfriends made me feel “fat” because I had a big booty. They always told me that I needed to go on a diet. I would starve myself and got too thin. It wasn’t until 1988, when I met my boyfriend (now husband) who is a light skinned black man (not that color matters) but he loved me the way I was an encouraged me to eat more. He was the person to change my self esteem. Today we are going on 25 years of marriage and Im extremely blessed and grateful. BTW, you are so beautiful and I love “CASE” and Ambers closet!!!! Yup, so on point.
I went through a little chubby stage, before that turned into beautiful curves.. And I couldn't get away from the compliments!
Truthfully, bullys still exist as adults.. I just went through a horrible job situation where an insecure little weedy gay man loved to pick on all the women.. It was tough! But it was absolutely clear that he loved to pick on the good things about us, so as much as it sucked, at least it was obvious it was about his insecurities and inabilities making him feel treatened for being shown up as not all that. I had to learn alot about narcism fast. I tried to lift him up for ages, but nope, he was determined to tear us down. Sad guy! We all deserve better 💕
Hang in there, whether it's today, or in the past, I totally agree, our uniqueness is beautiful!! And secure people don't find that scary, they find it hot 🔥

My body hair (I'm half Mexican and half white). Got a lot of crap about my appearance, to the point of having a nick name they gave me based on my being hairy and Latina. It sucked. But luckily I don't have to interact with them anymore. It still haunts me though. And even though in other ways I'm so into being a proud Latina, I still have that voice in my head that says I'm ugly and hates my face.

I was a fat kid - maiden name scales so you can imagine all the jokes about tipping the scales. The curves back then although bigger mind you, are the curves now smaller that I grew into that my husband LOVES - but most importantly, grew and birthed our daughter at 43yrs old! Yup she's 6 now and I just turned 48!
The other thing was being black and living in the suburbs with a dad who worked at DuPont and was successful to give his family a different quality of life - the antiquated term "Oreo cookie" rang regularly by my black peers who thought I was better than them. Now as a nurse who is awesome I might say, the things he and my mama worked for have instilled values in me and now trickle down to my daughter. Lol, for those who picked on me - you never know when you might need a nurse who's on her game and who you treated like crap - facts, just sayin 🧚🏽‍♂️

I read weird signs like that! If you knew me, then you'd know i go on sporadic Tonia Tangents but thats just me for you! Peace and Love to whoever reads this😘

And she's human she's not perfect just because she's a known UA-camr. And most of the time people aren't going to tell you the whole story anyway, so I bet they didn't explain what really happened to make her go off 🤎🤎🤎 From Philly

@@dawnsilva6438 those are in consideration as well as service industry workers are not perfect, human and unrecognized lil ppl. It’s an even playing field in grocery stores that’s all. They’re allowed to have an opinion about it if they had an in person experience so I didn’t really add my opinion I actually continue to watch Amber and like her so I just thought I would mention it it was just a little strange but no she’s not like a bad person I wouldn’t go there

Amber, can you just send me that poor plant behind your clothes (left side)? She’s dying over there and this is killing me 😅 I LOVE plants. Just send it over to me and I’ll take good care of her. 🖤

People TRIED to bully me on my forehead and hair BUT didn't know that my PETTY a$$ mouth and QUICK wit along with my FEARLESS spirits would rip their soul right out of their body. In the END I was considered the one not to mess with or that I was crazy. Worked for me cause I really like being in my peaceful place. I'm 50 and people still try me but wish they didn't. Word on the street is that I'm evil 😂. Nope, I'm just good at giving back 😜 without FEAR 😉. ALWAYS & FOREVER 💯
