Hello Shaun & Paul. Oh my goodness what a life and good to see Paul now at a better happy place in his life. Growing up in Glasgow myself, yes there was a lot of gangs. The McGoverns lived not far from me and we had them in our classes, also my mum grew up with the older families when she was a teenager back in the 50s. Kids now have to be educated with not taking knives with them to be a tough guy. They want nice cars, homes etc, well a good job is the way to go. Technology drives me nuts and when you hear the things that kids do to others online. Taking there own lives all that. That needs to be stamped out.

@shaunattwood and @paulsmith I enjoyed some of the stories that were told about the prisons paul had served time in, and hats off to you for turning your life around and maintaining employment and being a father...... but I have to say that for a man who has served so much time in scottish prisons, your knowledge of certain aspects of the system are ones you should know!!!!! Firstly for a man who got an LTP as a YO should know in Polmont the "Ally Cally" was simply an Allocation wing for YO's who have just arrived in the jail, the only prison at that time in scotland which had an allocation wing for simply holding YO's for a small period of time(usually only a few weeks) as the length of sentence you got, determined which wing you went too, and in my time there, 7 days to 8 months you were usually sent to Glenochil or kept in the "Ally Cally" 9-18 moths you were sent to North wing (known as "Vietnam" due to the violence) then you had South wing for the monsters, beasts and protections which im assuming was any length of sentence and finally you had East and West wing which was for YO's doing 19 months to 4 years. Anyway just thought i'd clear the Ally Cally story up for you Paul as ive also been stupid enough to be locked up most my adult life, done 16 STPs and 2 LTPs and been in most of the prisons in Scotland. I am from the east coast and there are stories Ive been wanting to tell the general public as they wouldn't believe and you and I can tell them about the real S.P.S. and the stories they wouldn't have wanted 'JOE PUBLIC' to know about so if you would like to collaborate lets start the dialogue and expose good (like big gibby the screw in Bar L) the bad and the ugly truth of the Scottish Prison service............Anyway I look forward to hearing from you if you genuinely want to put a book of small stories together as ive been in Perth,Polmont,Edinburgh,Kilmarnock,Barlinnie,Low Moss,Castle Huntly and Shotts from 1998-2021. ALL in mainstream
I know why your saying that & up until 2002 your where 100% correct but after Jessie closed it’s doors to LTP YOIs they really didn’t care where you were going
I was in ally cally in 2001 and got moved to north wing then to west wing then to north wing again then in 2004 before I got out they opened Iona hall so I got moved up there. I can tell you that Polmont in early 2000’s was a war zone, total carnage and most violent place I’ve ever seen

Aye was there in 2001 when it was a proper dump, then moved to north wing which was a jungle, riots constant, stabbing, slashing nearly everyday then got moved to west wing which was mental as well as was under 18’s then back to north wing then got moved to the new Iona hall at the time which was drug free, that was 2004 when I got out. Hell on earth and also was on big remand in Kilmarnock early 2001 and was g wing at the time they put us in which was next to beast wing which was H wing, weird jail that, with the bubbles in the middle and the wings off it. Like Paul says at around 20 mins, I've seen big changes in the West of Scotland over the last 20 years. For the better. I don't know if it was by design but casual, random street violence has reduced dramatically. The number of young guys out and about causing bother has drastically reduced. Maybe it's because those crazy shell suits went out of fashion so they're not as noticeable.😄
@@FatMontana84 there's probably a few reasons. Not so many kids being born after 2000 then a lot of the schemes getting torn down and rearranged. I think the drug scene is playing a part too. Drug deaths are through the roof the last 10 years.

there is several homemade documentaries that chart the never ending murders and extreme violence in Glasgow and how they are intertwined, obviously done by someone who lives within it and knows every victim and every gory detail, always the same story revenge attacks going on for years and years, young men chopping each other up, alcohol, they are really sad and disturbing because you can see it will never end, mothers with 3 sons ending up murdered over the years , cousins all sorts, wish i could remember the titles
fortunately organisations like the V.R.U & other committed people are doing some amazing things to work towards a better future for the kids of tomorrow
Watched all these Glasgow gangsters close up over the years , grief is all they bring to their families and aquaintances ,infest their neighbourhoods with drugs , never had a real job in their lives , would never have a square go ,still staying in the same shitty housing schemes , their kids end up in jail or are junkies or dead looking up to these role models but they still think they are wide as fuck .
God am listening to these pod casts and it’s like listening to my husband alex strachan aka Strackie he was in Barlinie shotts the lot and talks very highly of the old team as he called it

What a shithole of a wing was huge aswell
You mean ally cally = allocation
@@shuggsluggs9126 lol wtf awrite mate your spelling is the right way 😂😂👍
Daunting for youre first ever night in a Jail at 16😮
Aye was there in 2001 when it was a proper dump, then moved to north wing which was a jungle, riots constant, stabbing, slashing nearly everyday then got moved to west wing which was mental as well as was under 18’s then back to north wing then got moved to the new Iona hall at the time which was drug free, that was 2004 when I got out.
Hell on earth and also was on big remand in Kilmarnock early 2001 and was g wing at the time they put us in which was next to beast wing which was H wing, weird jail that, with the bubbles in the middle and the wings off it.
Place was a joke though, cons ran it and screws could do nothing about it, very dangerous jail tbh

@@FatMontana84 From easterhoose to cumbernauld (Abronhill).
Aye mental.
Most definitely mate
@@FatMontana84 there's probably a few reasons. Not so many kids being born after 2000 then a lot of the schemes getting torn down and rearranged. I think the drug scene is playing a part too. Drug deaths are through the roof the last 10 years.
CCTV
Lifes went indoor now in front screens.

Great guy

there is several homemade documentaries that chart the never ending murders and extreme violence in Glasgow and how they are intertwined, obviously done by someone who lives within it and knows every victim and every gory detail, always the same story revenge attacks going on for years and years, young men chopping each other up, alcohol, they are really sad and disturbing because you can see it will never end, mothers with 3 sons ending up murdered over the years , cousins all sorts, wish i could remember the titles
fortunately organisations like the V.R.U & other committed people are doing some amazing things to work towards a better future for the kids of tomorrow
What's it called? Cumbernauld 😊
😂 Cumbernauld
😂snacks😅
That's such a coincidence 🤔, same thing happening here 🙄🙄🙄
Lot a shite. No way Sean understands this guy
b hall polment pool table it was shaped like a fifty pence coin and it was fucked pockets in funny spots
Brilliant would be good to get him back on
❤
Watched all these Glasgow gangsters close up over the years , grief is all they bring to their families and aquaintances ,infest their neighbourhoods with drugs , never had a real job in their lives , would never have a square go ,still staying in the same shitty housing schemes , their kids end up in jail or are junkies or dead looking up to these role models but they still think they are wide as fuck .
You sound like you have very strong feelings about this
Oh & had Cadette not called off side , they wouldn't have 9.
God am listening to these pod casts and it’s like listening to my husband alex strachan aka Strackie he was in Barlinie shotts the lot and talks very highly of the old team as he called it
Your man will know better than most then of all the madness
This guy makes Blink sound posh! You really needed an translator!
